      I personally think that if RB knew it was me they'd block me, as I have spoken out against them many times LOL
      I don't think that social presence helped much, as the IG link I placed there was to an account that is private- so they can't even see it...
      Honestly? I think they placed me at a higher tier since I am not making any money- no money to take from a new seller, or maybe- they are trying to fight off all the bad rep they have gotten, so they make new accounts premium - to not demotivate them LOL

    Hey, I think I figured out the whole best seller badge thing. I started randomly clicking on different products in my shop until I found one with the best seller badge. Like you, it was a design that I'd never sold before. The particular product was a poster, but other products with the same design didn't say best seller. I looked at several other posters on my account and all of them had the best seller badge. Then I did a general search for posters and clicked on the first 12 designs that came up in the search. All of them had the best seller badge. Also every sticker I've clicked on has a top rated badge.
    From this I think I can conclude that these badges are about the type of product and not about our specific designs. So posters specifically are best sellers and stickers specifically are top rated. I think the way they did these badges is really misleading though because it really does come across as a rating about the particular design rather than the type of product.

I did fill in lots of information and connected social media accounts as well as reaching the design upload threshold for the first days (different designs, no similar copy paste stuff). I thought of it as a confirmation that I was doing well setting up my shop as a new seller.

  • @SecretThickMedia

    Also, side note for shipping I can tell you as someone that works in logistics for shipping for a Fortune 500 transportation company, the cost of shipping is crazy atm, a mix of not enough drivers wanting to drive due to much lower pay for that transportation due to the much higher cost in diesel. So alot of it is the fact alot of drivers are turning dow the lower jobs and sitting out for the ones they deem worth it also, we have an amazing amount of loads we struggle to get drives to accept due to the "low cost" and with gas honestly still being above 3$ and some ever over 4$ the drivers are just doing what they got to do. so remember shipping generally is essentially has fees on it 5 times and trading hands at least 3 times, (The maker of the goods, The Company accepting the product for the initial shipment, (depending on the distance may move between 2-5 forms of transportation, not each transportation is getting paid too) and the vendor, and if no vender generally shipped directly to the buyer) So assuming the lowest generally 3-4 people get a payment of some kind to get from point a to be, high end i have seen up to 10 changes of hands, again each getting a payment

  • @Kythe42
    @Kythe42 Год назад +1

    This was a pretty interesting experiment you did. I was put in premium even though I haven't sold much, but I think I went about setting things up in a fairly similar way to how you did it. The main difference is that I used the maximum number of tags because that was the advice that I received at the time I created the shop, but I tried to make sure they were all relevant tags as much as possible. Ironically I had issues with trying to set up an account on Fine Art American where they deactivated my account because I put links in my bio before I uploaded any designs and they thought that was a sign of a spammy bot.
    I will admit to being curious about your accent as it seems to change around at times so it was very interesting to hear a bit more about your background. I'm not sure why you try to make your accent neutral, but I'm sure your natural speaking voice is lovely and it would be nice to hear it in some of your future videos.

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  Год назад

      I have to say- this is the first time I am hearing someone being banned or deactivated from FAA...
      Maybe their algorithm is somehow backwards?
      My accent- originally very south african... But I modified it as a child cause I was bullied because of it.
      I have lived in so many countries, and I "catch" accents from people. I try to neutralize my accent on RUclips, but on my earlier videos, when I was filming myself I was using a neutral accent, but when filming the screen my natural one came out.
      Sometimes I even start speaking with an Eastern European accent if i spoke Bulgarian that day LOL

    • @Kythe42
      @Kythe42 Год назад

      @@MeyTribe Yeah, I don't know. They did reactivate my account after contacting them but told me it would be deactivated again if I didn't upload any designs in two days because it was an automated thing. I wasn't pleased as that's not a lot of time if you're busy and trying to learn how a new product creator works. I managed to get it done, but didn't do too much with the site after that as I've been debating whether I want to pay the subscription fee for unlimited designs, and it doesn't help that the only payment methods they offer aren't convenient for me.
      Sorry to hear about the childhood bullies. I've had to deal with that myself for other reasons and children can be so cruel sometimes. I think I know what you meant about the catching accents thing. I've experienced that on occasion myself just from watching television! LOL

    I contacted to many Redbubble artists. And the truth is that all high-selling successful artists are classified as standard. Even accounts with 2 designs are premium.

I just recently learned about Print on demand in the last few months after just considering making stickers. I knew about KDP from working at an Amazon facility in Denver, Colorado, US, but hadn’t seen all of what was available with print on demand, until recently. So, now I’m just trying to decide what to sell on which platforms, and learn marketing. As always, Mey, you are amazing and much appreciated. Thank you for being such an authentic person.

      It is starting to look like their system is either RANDOM or just against people with sales...
      as for removing your designs... Only you can decide if it's worth it for you or not.
      If you have already so many pins and posts referring to your shop- maybe removing the designs will hurt potential earnings in the future?
      Also- removing the designs is "work", you can just stop uploading if you don't like to try in with the new system... But if you wanna remove your account cause you dislike the company's behaviour- no one will blame you.
      I have closed my shop over a year ago, for my own moral reasons, and only opened this shop as viewers wanted to see what happens with a new shop opened from a None-native English speaking country, as many were thinking this tier system is a geo-location thing.
      I made an order from Liesl's shop for that anti-RB merch, and as soon as I get it- I am closing my shop as well...
      If your goals is to close the shop and open a new one, I am not sure how their algorithm will fee about that... mind you- my shop was closed for over a year...

    Here’s what’s up with the tier system: RB makes almost no money from low selling accounts (i.e. mine) and they put those in Premium. The good sellers make lots of money for RB and now they are put into Standard so that RB gets to gouge those sellers for a bigger cut of those profits. Simple as that. I’d be willing to bet that many of the accounts that use bots are also in Standard. The vast majority of sellers on RB make next to no money. If they told those artists that they were going to penalize them more with higher fees then said artists would be jumping ship even more than they are now. I know for sure I would have done. The fact that they put me in Premium means I’ll stick around for a bit longer and see what plays put.

      Nope. I had multiple RB accounts. The ones with hardly no sales got Standard, the higher selling account with daily sales got Premium. I draw a lot of my own traffic and have a branded store. A guy I know that makes $2000/mo got Pro.
      While I will admit, there seems to be a bit of randomness and uncertainty here, we can't assume that's the case for everyone. For some they got it right, for others they didn't. We'll never know the real story.

      @MeyTribe  Год назад

      When I opened my first ever account I was from Israel, a non-native-English speaking country, and they didn't know I was a good designer- as I had no public info on myself. That account was used when i was uploading art to RB from Romania, Thailand , Laos & Bulgaria.
      This current account was opened from Bulgaria.
      I don't know how redbubble would know someone is a good designer from them uploading 2-3 designs. (they didn't know my name on the first time FOR SURE as I didn't have a RUclips channel back in 2017).
      I think any experiment is valid, but it does show they are not banning or demoting people just from having accounts that are not in native English speaking countries- as a lot of people said is the case.
      As for anything else? it's speculation. it's also an option that maybe RB just started giving people a premium account when opening the shop just to get off the bad reputation they got from the tier system.
      Also, I don't think that i am getting any special treatment from them... even when I contacted them with certain questions from my personal IG or FB accounts- where you can clearly see I'm a POD youtuber, the answers were vague, weird, and telling me to contact support.
      When I did contact support I also got vague answers after waiting a good 4-5 days for a reply. I do not think I get any special treatment with them.
      In fact- my only concern was to be placed in a lower tier, or be automatically suspended- as I have spoken out against them in many occasions, and the fist thing I did with my new account is to buy anti-redbubble merch LOL

    • @albert0F

      @@MeyTribe Thanks for the long reply. I think RB surely has an algorithm to do this. I made an account in 2017, from Mexico, with less than 20 designs and sold $20 worth of commissions in all that time, which only recently discovered because I logged back in by chance. I am tiered as Premium, because I guess the bar is not very high. I decided to open another store for a different niche and it also got tiered Premium, because they already know who I am, which is my point, they already know who you are today from all your history with them, it doesn't matter if its in a different country unless you change the name, email, paypal, maybe even erase the computer cookies, etc. Your history is part of the algorithm, it couldnt ever be simply the country you are located. Israel with so many english speakers is also part of the algorithm, just like it would be the case with european countries. Premium is just a small jump ahead, a way to delete accounts or make people lose them, because they probably waste a lot of system resources to have dormant accounts with thousands of bad designs eating resources, and that way they can keep the money from that. I bet they have millions in uncollected commissions.

      @@hokdany1915 If you feel like putting in effort at this point is not something you wanna do- go for it (or more like, don't go for it like don't do anything)
      I personally will be shutting down my RB account as soon as I get the merch i ordered from Liesl's shop

    Nothing strange with RB’s strategy. It’s messed up, but there’s a method.
    RB artist that sells get standard so RB can get more money.
    RB artist who just created their account gets Premium so newcomers will feel special and will stay on the platform.
    Remember that even being Premium RB gets a good amount of profit.
    It looks like less money then Standard, but new accounts don’t sell anyway.
    Why this strategy is going to fail? Because there are so many other platforms out there, because people who sell a lot are already leaving RB.
    New accounts will stay for a while until they see that they don’t sell anything, and even they are going to either abandon their stores or delete everything and go away.

      I think that they are heading for a fall with that one too, there's way too much competition out there.
      On the other hand- Society6 is issuing membership fees in the fall, art of where just closed their marketplace, so a lot of "competition" is being taken out of the equation as well.

    I think they want money, if you sell zero or little then you are premium, if you have sales you are standard.

      I am starting to think so too... Have seen many actual artist shops, with sales, with bringing in repeat customers, on standard,. if that's the case- this company has lost all morality.

    I'm almost afraid to ask, but why is making white stickers on Redbubble dumb?

      Cause white text with white background of the sticker is a white blob that no one will buy

    I have two accounts on RB.
    One was opened about a year and a half ago, had really good sales until the end of the year, then my designs got taken down (mostly my fault, I didn't quite understand the trademark/copyright rules. Although some that weren't infringing on anything also got taken down along with the others). That account currently has 0 designs and is on Standard.
    The other account was opened sometime last year. I uploaded only 5 designs (all in the same niche and I really pay attention to optimize the design for each and every product). I have 0 sales and haven't logged into that account in months. I don't have it connected to any social media either, and that one is Premium.
    I live in Serbia.
    Can't lie, I'm pretty happy about getting the chance to continue with RB as usual. I pretty much have a blank slate, but it's incredibly unfair to those who have actually put effort into their shops.
    But as you say, they can't take money from accounts that don't sell. That said, it makes me wonder.. will random premium accounts like mine be downgraded to standard if they ever start making good money? 🤔

      I asked your final question on another YT account since I wondered the exact same thing. That’d be a real crappy thing for them to do.

      @@goilo888 Yeah, it would. Although, it seems like it would be a very bad business move since that would enrage the other half of their sellers that weren't enraged this time. Then again, that thing with Hasbro and D&D happened recently, so you never know. 😮‍💨 These things happen when companies have CEOs that don't understand what they're CEO of and what makes their business work in the first place.
