I love your philosophy, something along the lines of don’t panic however don’t be careless either. Always enjoy watching and always learn something from you Pat. Thanks so much everyone.
I have plenty of good wood. And a chain saw mill, but it's a LOT of work to square up logs. What are the logistics of using round, unmilled, logs to build a frame?
For some reason, people always forget that carbon dioxide (CO2) is necessary for photosynthesis. Plants produce more food, trees grow faster at higher levels of CO2... Pot growers sometimes even buy CO2 tanks for their plants.
No one forgets this, at higher levels of CO2 plants do grow faster but there's a limit because it alone isn't the only factor. And it's been shown that many plants grown for food may increase in size with more CO2, but the nutrient density decreases as CO2 is added.
@@Thoughmuchistaken i guess the silver fox meant the scare mongers who are unable to take time to check out the data which shows there's nothing to worry about when it comes to doubling or tripling atmospheric CO2 levels.
You say not to cut live trees but i can do this to thin out a stand of trees right? I do hate cutting even the smallest trees but i hope to start sequestering carbon in the ground via charcoal soon.
Oh snap I live in Maine, cool. More oxygen is produced in the ocean then in an forest. Fire is actually good to a certain degree (no pun intended) to clear an area and ready it for more plant life.
If you want to "donate" your broad axe, let me know, Although I'm going on 69 years old, I think I am still able to effectively use the axe (I have a 22" right hand bevel) and a larger one will fit into my tool shed very nicely. Looks like you've taken good care of that one and they are hard to find in good shape. I'll send you my address ( I am a subscriber for a while now) when you decide to "de-clutter" your shop!
I'm still learning how to cut wood with a chain saw. I hope you can answer this as I think its dangerious. I have a 30" oak that is fully suspended above the ground about a foot. I need to cut it within the gap. Do I cut from the top and use a wedge or from the bottom or from bottom then top or top then bottom? My guess is that I should cut bottom first then make a mouth at the too. Any advise?
Human population is now 7.9 Billion Humans increasing at the rate of 1 Billion every 12 years. So even though the end will come soon we probably should not cut a lot of living trees. World population had tripled in my life time and I am 74 years old.

It is possible, the joinery is much more complex and unfortunately you do not get much more strength out of a round log.

Pat, what do you think about swingblade sawmills?

This is the most pathetic comment I've ever read.

Did you handle this? How did it go?
