The mother of ALL MUSCLE CARS!!
A GUY HERE IN CHICAGO HAS RUN 3 LS6 CHEVELLES ( BONE STOCK) WITH A 70 HEMI CUDA ( BONE STOCK, 410, 4 SPEED)
HE RAN THEM AT Great Lakes Dragaway and not only beat all 3 but the looks??? My goodness. Mopar always my friend.
Beautiful car. Congrats
Thank you for sharing your story too Dave brown :-) It's a good one, Lou
That Cuda is one hot Hemi car, and there is just no car like MoPaR, the #1 original American badass
Well said :-)
“Insane” sounding car....Holy Grail of ALL muscle cars....Thank you Lou for all you do.
Hi Cheops2112, Happy to read you enjoy the sounds from this car :-) I like it too. Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
just amazing, I love my mopars. I've got a 1971 plymouth duster with a 340 4-speed.
Sounds like you're having fun in your cool car :-) Glad you enjoyed the car / video, Lou
Wow 1971 wow dudster 340 is a really nice Mopar. I have a 1972 Valiant Super Bee (Only produced in Mexico) the fastest car in Mexico from 1970-1980.
Oh. My. God..... That white interior is BEAUTIFUL!
Glad you like this one :-)
Sounds like a real "race car".....awesome.
Just the way we like it :-)
Oh my goshaaa!!! 😧😧😍😍🥰🥰🧨🧨💥💥
This HEMI 'cuda is astounding!!! Interesting 'venue', guys, ahaha. I don't quite know how
you did not have passersby..people honking & hollering at you, as you did this episode of MCS!
Tons of thanks, Lou for reviewing this fast fish 💛
Hi Tom, Happy to read you enjoy this HEMI :-) You're welcome. If you type into RUclips search "My Car Story with Lou Hemi" or "My Car Story with Lou 426 Hemi" I think you'll see many you enjoy, Lou
@@loucostabile Heya, cool idea! Thank you. We love our 426 HEMI cars! ..aha, i always seem to type in msgs precisely as the cars are named, as far as case type.. like 'cuda with a lower case 'C' and road runner, all lower case. All caps HEMI, as shown on the fender badges..Mopar was always trying to be a little different, from big..as in the Elephant Motor, even down to small details, as you capture so well & also in the names of the cars themselves 🙂
This just popped up. I've watched it before but this car is so beautiful. Love that black and white Tuxedo look. He's also got a black and white wing car too. Another beauty.
Hi Robert, Happy to read you love the look of this car :-) Lou
Just perfect in every way. This is why im a mechanic because these old cars keep my heart pumping
Hi lifelessdead89, "Just perfect in every way" :-) Well said and thank you for sharing a wonderful comment, Lou
That 71 cud's hemi is the QUEEN of them you were lucky to be able to buy her I hope you hold on to her for a long time because a lot of people will be making you offers on her
Hi Stanley Webster, Thank you for sharing that very nice comment :-) Hope you see many more cars on this RUclips Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
I have to agree with u guys having own a 71 cuda,I forget its Chrysler poster child, because it was so different from other e body's,the two things that I liked double headlights, like my challengers had for all five years, only 71 for Cudas, and those beautiful front fenders with nicest sourced lourved fenders of any production car... I was thinking holy grail but a 71 cuda I forgot,I did have a friend who had a very rare cuda package triple white hemi cuda auto, with shaker hood, but it was a 70 and the 71 is so much more impressive with its fenders and really nice looking grill and four headlight set up....and I will say this that black body with the white billboards is so bad ass looking its almost a foggy dream its so stunning nice job of grabbing that one,let me make u cry before I go I had been stuck on challengers and had lost my passion for Cudas, even though I had found a 1971 383 cuda rust free car which I bought for 800 dollars,it had some small engine wire issues and had a 4 speed in place of the original 727 on the tree bench buckets seat, original b5 blue in rust free condition,I lost the place where I was keeping the car so I had to do something I called up a guy who had a business collecting mopars...and said I'VE got this car and have no place to keep it,he called a friend up and that friend cut the perfect car up for the floors and fenders to build another car when I gave him a good title...worst part is the moron cuts the car up for it parts right at the property where I was storing it for three years,I come by on day and there is a blue 5 cent tarp blowing in the wind,I look under it and puked what a jerk and a messy slob to ,I could have done with out knowing its fate,it was bad enuf I had to get rid of a 1970 dodge Challenger special edition talk about rare, and it went straight to a junk yard that was going out if biz and they crushed it the day it got to the yard, that one hurt, everywhere I drove it before it stopped and I parked it people were ready telling me how beautiful it was and on just laughed and said it my daily driver...
I mean every where and everybody that was cool part even non car people loved the looks of the challenger..
Thank you Kellie Nicole Brooks Schettino for sharing your thoughts and story too :-) Lou
71 is most beautiful car on the planet..the shark grill is delicate but wow. i painted my 67 fastback barracuda,an sold it,we lost money on it at 6500.00 bucks back in around 2000,sadly..plum crazy purple,an it looked good with an e58 360 motor an disk brakes on front...........
High praise :-)
As much as I love all the Grabber Greens, Top Bananas, Plum Crazies, Bahama Blues, and Panther Pinks of the era...
That Tuxedo Black and White on White interior is sa-sa-sa-silly pretty. Shaker too boot!
Hi Eric Weinbender, Glad you enjoyed the color combo on this one :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing. Lou
The shaker hood was on EVERY Cuda with a Hemi lol
What a fantastic Plymouth. A 71 hemi cuda convertible recently sold for 5 million bucks
:-0
Agreed, I hear a bad throwout bearing. Normally louder like that, then I'd expect an input shaft bearing. Plus, the throwout bearings are just less durable.....
Awesome ride!
Hi SixSpeedSS, Glad you enjoyed the ride, and thanks for sharing, Lou
I love the hub caps.....so cool.
Happy to read you enjoy this car :-)
Lou, you shoot some beautiful Mopars!!
Thanks man...... Us mopars guys appreciate it
You're welcome, and it's my pleasure :-)
That is the holy grail hemi cuda.
Winner :-)
i like the black color in this car

@@loucostabile there's a drag racing game that I play, luckily I have this car in that game, and I've copied your black + white livery 😎 as you were stating it's super rare, makes my car stand out and look nice. Thanks for sharing again, love your cars + videos

Hi Bob McKinley, Glad you're enjoying the Mopars, and stay tuned :-) You're welcome, Lou
The only car I ever want is a Hemi Cuda
Hi Stanley Webster, You have great taste in the only car you ever wanted :-) Hope you're behind the wheel of yours soon, Lou
Awesome freaking car! Loooove the white interior! I want it!!
You have great taste :-)
One the best muscle cars around besides its little brother the Dodge Challenger.Really beautiful car!
Glad you enjoyed this video, I just love the Muscle Cars. Lou
Same here my Friend!Dan
Wonderful enthusiasm for this car from both owner and Lou alike. "The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys..."
Hi Andrew Graham, "Difference between men & boys is the price of their toys.." well said :-) Lou
Whoever wrote that probably had a small penis...
Awesome car indeed! Tom, I really love that you drive your cars in public and they aren't just trailer queens. QUESTION: What are the four controls under your ashtray and glovebox? I can't imagine one would be a choke, but that's what it looks like.
Hi Jeff Becker, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) I think they are air vents. Thank you for viewing, sharing and I believe you're going to see many more cars on this Channel you'll enjoy. Living the dream! 😀😁
Glad you enjoy this video :-)
Tom you don't need that Cuda just go ahead and give it to me...
Hi Ethan Bible, That would certainly be nice if it worked that way :-) Lou
Awesome. I wonder if there’s one with black paint, black interior, rally dash and red billboards. Now THAT is one 71 Hemi’Cuda I want to see.
Or reproduce...
That sounds like a nice color combo, the colors of the Batmobile.
Not what I had in mind, but okay. I remember once seeing a '71 Challenger R/T 440+6 in that colour combination too.
This thing, is the absolute definition of COOL. It looks bad to the bone. 👍👍👍👍
Hi Sabino Berenguer Berenguer, Glad you enjoy this "absolute definition of COOL" car :-) Hope you see many more cars on this RUclips Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
amazing+ !
Hi Nair Byad, Glad you think this car is "amazing" :-) Me too, Lou
I remember a 1970 or 1971 Hemi 'Cuda that was Red, White and Blue with the big Hemi lettering on the side back in the day. It was like that from the factory, white body with red and blue. Back about 1975, it had some rust too, so i doubt it survived. I have yet to see mention of a red, whit and blue color code Hemi 'Cuda anywhere. i'm 100% sure the car was real and existed because it was always at the cruises way back in the day.
It was a 1970. HEMI was on the rear quarters. Not a Sox and Martin car , red , white and blue. the car was mostly white.
Hi syyenergy7, I have not seen the cars you're describing, however I think it's great that a car like this can have such an imprint on your memory. If I see it, and meet the Owner, you'll see that car too :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I was looking on the internet if it's described anywhere. I saw it almost every week in this cruise area that was a large circle around Branchbrook Park, Bloomfield, NJ. It already had rust way back in the mid 1970's but that was factory paint scheme. 'HEMI' was on the quarters with base wite and reod and blue versus black for the stripe and the Hemi word. It was a HEMI in that thing and the ONLY one I ever remember seeing. They were very RARE back then. I had a '69 roadrunner ragtop back then and had it a while. I have an old '78 El Camino posi 4 speed now that I use as a Truck and had it 26 years now.
The main thing that was different back then was that NO one's car was stock. My friend stuffed a 351 windsor in his '66 Mustang and had to use 289 exhaust to make it fit. We did that in an APARTMENT garage with a wooden roof and we almost tore down the roof with the engine weight.
Painfully beautiful.
Nice :-)
I don't think he knows that when a Black Cuda` was on the production line the body was pulled off the line by the Engineers at Chrysler prior to being painted.
They went over the car to align every panel and look for flaws in the sheet metal which might be a bad fender or truck lid no quite perfect . Nothing was over looked because they knew that a Black Cuda would show any sub-par assembly or door hanging.
Once it was approved by the experts it was inserted back in the assembly line for the paint process and checked again for flaws in the paint as well as reviewing all the gaps from the truck to the hood .
A Black Cuda` would be the best to restore because it was perfect from the factory and if it was never damaged you could give it a super high gloss Black finish and not worry a body man needed to prep the car to correct minor problems from the factory .
Just by looking at that car in the video you would need to buy a $30,000.00 high end Piano in Black to get that mirror finish with a perfection of fit .
Any other colour for the Cuda ( challenger) was never given this level attention to details by the Engineers at the Plant and they would even replace the bolt on body parts for the slightest mistake in stamping or spot welding .
Anyone with a high end 71 Cuda that wasn't Black would find out very fast that it doesn't come close to the factory Black if they chose to redo their Cuda in Black .
I'd take a Black Hemi Cuda 4spd convertible over any other Hemi Cuda that is said to be very rare for the options and colour.
+Gary wood Hi Gary, Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. Take care, Lou
Holy cow.
:-)
I want one Sooo bad
Hi Lindsay Waltower, Hope you're behind the wheel of yours soon, Lou
what the hell with all the road noise, good grief..love the cuda i have had 3 of them......
When in Chicago, you have noise. Sounds like you have 3 great cars :-)
#goals

Beautiful car. Invest in a clip-on mic for your guests - you won't be sorry.

Hi, great car, do you know where it is now, I am interesting in purchasing a 71 Hemi Cuda. Please contact me if you have any information.
Hi William, Happy to read you enjoy this "great car" :-) If you're planning to purchase a real hemi Cuda, here is my e-mail and put in the title "Purchasing a Real Hemi Cuda" and add your cell phone # in the description, Lou trupowr@yahoo.com
That looks like a 71 Plymouth TX9 Cuda what do the vins say?
Hi Mountain Bike life 25, At 5:08 you can see the tags. Enjoy! Lou
Are there any Moulin Rouge 71 Hemi Cudas?
Hi DaviddoggL, Hmmm, no 1971, however here's a 1970 AAR Cuda, enjoy, Lou ruclips.net/video/5r6ljkSjay8/видео.html
Ah ok, the 71 is so rare it doesn't even exist! That AAR looks pretty neat tho, nice one!
i just have the truck, with k n n filter system, and a chip for extra timing, must use premium, and weird stiff springs,an i dont know..the seller said it would outrun mustangs all day long,an it will really bark hard just changing gears an put that a ss back in the seat, whatever they done to it its stout..sadly i sold cuda,an glhs shelby charger and big block truck to a guy in conyers, collecter guy.........
Hi David Ledford, Well you never know when another muscle car may come along your way :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Looks better without the radio
No radio, great sound :-) Glad you enjoy this one Kevin Moran, Lou
I liked he said sassy grass green is a nice color, I know this, but it lays credence to my 69 rt sgg charger. It is a sweet green. I do in some ways disagree with his originalis thought though
Hi Tyson Gonsorowski, Thank you for viewing, and sharing your thoughts, Lou
So how much does that car cost in the U.S.A
No idea.
320k dude
Wow Lou...Yet Another disappointing answer. Do you know anything about vehicles? Honest question! Jacob Jackson these cars are in the high 6 figures and many are selling for over a million dollars! Extremely rare and highly sought after! I'm certainly no genius but with confidence I'll make the claim that I've provided a far superior answer than the fellow who made the video. Research Lou RESEARCH! It's absurd not even being able to provide an estimated value
How much Horsepower it got?
Lou Costabile
Yep thats what Chrysler stated Lou.
The actual Dyno Tests from independant firms had it from 500-525. Insurance and gas had Chrysler thinking ahead.
How could you possibly not recall the exact Horsepower Chrysler claimed that engine to make? If you don't know the exact details of the car you should definitely research such information at the very least! Also, you at one point made a statement where you compared a 71 grille to a 72 Cuda instead of 70 to 71. In case you weren't aware of this, the only two production years for Hemi Cuda's were 1970 & 1971... Extremely beautiful car but your interview along with the information you attempted to provide were at best lacking. No disrespect intended but I would highly recommend doing more in depth research prior to making videos. Legendary cars such as the Hemi Cuda deserve nothing less than an expert's knowledge if you're making a video about one and you sir can't even quote the advertised HP with confidence. Impressive vehicle amateur interview/video. As stated previously I mean no disrespect but you're not talking about a Ford Pinto so please do some more extensive research next time.
dmfj1980
Lmao... Actually i agree a thousand times over!!!!
mine was a 72,with a 71 front clip,an black 440 billboards,an was a sublime green one with a 383 magnum,not a hemi..i traded a purple beautiful challenger s/ e for it..cloned to be an r/t s/e..all are gone,an my house is lost,gone,an wife is dead,am here with guitars an cats an a fast 02 red dakota r/t truck...........
The time period brochures shared 425 HP, however I see moparman 4406 shared "The actual Dyno Tests from independent firms had it from 500-525. Insurance and gas had Chrysler thinking ahead."
Throw in the convertible and that would be number 1.
Hi Alan Augustine, You mean like this one, enjoy, Lou ruclips.net/video/wgKPCaEOi9Y/видео.html
And while we're showing the car, how about a ride :-) Enjoy, Lou ruclips.net/video/JmnLzjQZTHw/видео.html
Wow Lou, amazing. Thanks for the link. :)
Glad you enjoyed that one :-) Me too.
Just needs some spinner hubs ?
Soooooo close.......
Im just saying my 1996 Toyota camry would give that car a run for its money😈

I miss my 71' orange 383 cuda. I liked tapping the bright headlights at night only 71' cudas had 4 headlights. Mine previous owner dropped a cam and aluminum manifold. The hemi would probably be way too much car for me. I love living lol.
Hi Roger Broast, Good memories, good times :-) Lou
After all what r u pay in 4
The Hemi under the hood matched to this car.
This car should have a 150 MPH speedo.
Hi Mark G, That makes a lot of sense, that is a good idea. Thank you for sharing, Lou
Had to Order the RALLEY Dash,I Believe TOM Said,Orig.Owner Just Bought This Car To RACE, NO RADIO,EITHER
It's making me nervous to see the cars driving by so close to her.
I can understand that.
Never seen a Hemi cuda without the rally dash ? Input anyone
You have now :-)
my favorite car ever . growing up my neighbor had a 71 hemi cuda sassy grass green with black vinal top and black bulboard and black interior
Videoed a Winner for you jim gee :-) Nice! Lou
Always kind of annoys me where they decide to film. The owner parks in the dumbest places and stops in traffic like an idiot in many videos.
thats a bit lame , i admit .
This Is Pretty Close to D' Town Area Of Chicago,Where Great Portion of Parking is on the Streets, & Looks Too Be Dangerous To Even Make Left Turns @ Intersections. But, Would Like to See An Occasional Freeway Video. BRAVE Guy,To Drive His Collection Around the Streets of Chicago In Always Bad Traffic !

What were there... 9 of those made in 71' ? Thats why its the Holy Grail.... HO-LEE-SH*&%
Yes, I believe you are correct, Lou
59 Hemi 'Cuda 4 speed Coupes were built in '71. Another 48 were auto coupes. You are probably thinking of the convertibles.... Only 9 of those were built (only 2 manual).
Big problem to have, lol
yep
Illegally parked in the wrong direction on the street.
Hi tripjet999, I think I have the photo reversed....Lou
this is a sweet car. I have a 73 cuda that I put a nice stout 383 in. I was following a guy with a 70 dual quad hemi cuda and he wanted to race. so I raced him. he was really blown away when he got beat. those hemi engine's are BADASS. but my sweet little 383 put the hurt to that one. just sayin !!! 😎. I wanted to see this one going down the road. bummer.
Hi Roy Thorward, Thank you for viewing and sharing details on your 73 :-) Here is one for you going down the road. Enjoy! Lou ruclips.net/video/JmnLzjQZTHw/видео.html
Bullshit a 383 yaa right
Bob Mckinley no SHIT. I will say that the hemi was puking black smoke but still whipped him. Sometimes it's not about the cubic inches. But how well you tune your engine. 😎
Sassy Grass Green or Formal Black, the best color in existence on a Hemicuda? Really?! I prefer the Sno White, French Export, 71 Hemicuda convertible, or the True Blue GB5 71 Hemicuda convertible with blue interior and steel wheels. I was told, by the owner of four Hemicuda convertibles, that the "Grail car" that all the Hemicuda collectors want is a Tor Red 71 convertible with orange interior and white billboards.
+Komet163B Hi Komet163B, Nice detail! Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Take care, Lou
+Komet163B
All those colours are nice and sought after cars, but a Black Cuda had special attention at the plant for perfection and I didn't see any information that it was an extra cost .
The engineers knew that Black was a quasi salesman for that WOW factor to sell more cars.
I would have gone with a triple black and a black billboard that hides the HEMI badge after sunset to be a sleeper that can lay rubber while doing 40 mph .
+Komet163B Really?! Yes, that is what he said were, in his opinion, the best colors. You prefer the Sno white or the Tor Red. Really?! So, because someone didn't state EXACTLY what you liked, you're going to make this statement? Really?! And I believe that a guy who actually OWNS a few real Hemi cars and has obviously been researching them for quite some time may know more than someone who "was told" what was he rarest.
DUDE NEEDS SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO TUNE A MOPAR !!!
Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts.
A hemi guy? no just a guy with too much money
Hi MrCoffeekelly, That sounds like a good thing :-) Lou
Don"t Understand, 4 Speed With NO FACTORY TACH !!!! Everything Except Rally Dash, Not Holy Grail !!!!
Hi Lou, You're right. A tach would help, Lou
white hemi stripe ruins the look......and white interior is just as ugly
Hi kev theplumber, Ok, this one is not for you. Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
What the hell is wrong with you
Is this my wife?
Not you, him... Whoever thinks this car is ugly has a serious mental disorder and needs help.
I ordered a white vinyl interior in my black '77 1/2 Chevy Camaro z28, was cool in the summer, ice cold in winter, and trouble to keep clean. Even the dye from wearing dark blue jeans would show.
