Also, once plugged in, go to your recording devices in audio settings and change it to the mic. Everyone thinks you can just plug it in and it works... CHANGE IT IN SETTINGS
LISTEN UP: Your computer needs a microphone jack to plug this in, most of you are putting this in the headphone jack which results in your microphone being used as a sound device
I'd ignore this video if I were you. Microphone jacks on computers can very rarley provide enough power, especially to dynamic microphones such as the one in this video, the noise floor will also be exceptionally high. Do yourself a favour and pick up something like the Behringer Xenyx 502 USB or any similarly small mixer/interface and the Samson Q7 or Behringer XM8500 and you'll get much better results and better expandability in the long run.
It can work because I connected one to my PC in the past, but regrettably it sounded low because of the sensitivity of the mic and if you level up the capture volume in the computer you level up background noise too, and it gives poor quality recordings. The only way it's to buy a sound interface with preamp or a dedicated USB mic.
@@MrBravoamigo Yes, maybe with a condenser microphone (for example, the iRig mic) it could work as it has more sensitivity but with a dynamic one, which are the ones used in karaoke, what I said happens.
You forgot to touch on driver recognition. I did this and it worked, but I had to go configure it in my Realtek drivers to understand this is a recording device not a playback device. Good video and presentation, but rule of thumb, assume your audience knows nothing and explain everything
on the cheap way, you can use some old pc speakers which you can plugthe microphone on the imput signal and connect on the phones output a jack cable to the pc/noteboook, i'm using that and it's working, maybe you get some interference, white noise , but that depends of the connection and the quality of the electronics of the speakers, Another way is using a Singstar converter usb i think, i'm waiting to get the adapter so i can try it. Seems simple. But it ;does not work for mine. After plugging the adapter into the sound input of my PC connecting my dynamic mic, there is no sound [no response] at all. Despite attempting to change the sound settings, still no use. I guess I might need an audio interface which costs much more!
I got the mic to work...Thing is... it sounds terrible for recording.. should I used a powered pre-amp with built in EQ to get more gains and better sound quality?
It works but the Sound is too small even though I maximized the mic volume. How can I make this louder? It only works on desktop. Not the laptop. Laptop doesn't have a individual microphone jack but the only headphone jack.
@@joey1_ This means that while dynamic microphone produces a signal regardless of whether it's plugged to anything or not, because it's based on permanently charged magnet. When the coil (a thin hair like piece of wire ) glued to membrane moves it produces a current. In the best scenario your audio will sound bad, the worst... You'll destroy your mic's inne wiring. If you WANT to plug in karaoke mic into PC, you need to have LINE-IN port (on pc) and karaoke mixer that outputs line level. audio, they are pretty cheap. sorry late reply look above the hole where you plug it, if its mic you good to go but if doesnt have a picture and maybe the picture a headphone i suggest u buy a slitter MAYBE IT WILL WORK
Guys: stop connecting the microphone to the headphone jack because it results in the microphone being used as a sound divice, and not a recording device. You need to plug it into a microphone jack, which uses the microphone as it's meant to be used.
@@williamhiemstra4925 Most PCs have a single jack that uses TRRS pins, for taking input as well as giving output. You can use a splitter, they hardly cost anything. Or you can use a USB external sound card adapter. In both the methods you will get a dedicated microphone port to plug the device into. Else, you can use just the adapter mentioned in here, plug in the microphone into the headphone jack of your computer, go to the audio settings and switch your input device and output device.
