the L.A region is so unique in the world...huge, majestic mountains to the north, beaches, Mediterranean climate and urban living all within an 1 & 20 minutes in every direction..
Went hiking nearby with a group when I was in the Navy while stationed in San Diego (1977). Very beautiful but one must be prepared because the weather is unpredictable and there are dangers around many corners. It was my first real weekend hiking and adult camping trip and I wasn't all that prepared. It snowed and a friend and I woke up the following morning behind a water fall in a small cave. Got wet when I try to get out. Later that day I unknowingly stumbled onto a mountain lion's den and noticed all these big bones of medium to larger size prey. I got a little scared but realized she or he must have been out. I was lucky. But all in all it was very good adventure despite me being a little miserable because if my being not fully prepared. Like the old petty officer that was with us said "A good sailor is always prepared". A good lesson for me.
Many times I have hauled a full overnight pack to Limber Pine camp, once got caught in a wicked spring snowstorm, back in the 80's, early 90's, love san Gorgonio wilderness!!
Good video. I've summited 5 times. The water source is about 1/2 mile up from the Limber Pine camp. It mostly runs in the early part of the summer, but may be dry later in the year.
Nice view of the smog! I used to go up to Big Bear lake a lot in the late 70's and early 80's before it became a tourist attraction. Back then, when you got near the lake, looking down into the valley below all you could see was the top layer of smog. No views of anything!
the smog was worse back in the 70's & 80's, before the emissions laws went into effect..but good job on being a debbie downer..not many urban areas in the world have what L.A has, and that's huge, beautiful mountains in their back yard, situated in a Mediterranean climate...
Your videos are definitely quality! Beautiful landscapes, excellent explanation of the place. I love your videos !! Really very good work. Congratulations!!!
I lived in Riverside for 5 years and never made it near here, but now I want to go some time. Also I really like the long videos and prefer them to the shorter ones quite a lot!
Beautiful video. Havnt been too the top since i was young. When I was a teen we would hike straight up and didnt bother with the switch backs, the same on the way back down. Its alot faster coming down when ur sliding
I've lived in the IE all my life, and have heard tales of this epic trail, but have never taken it. In RCC Geology we learned of the benchmark, but I thought it was at the top. Thank you for taking us along! I like the longer content with more details :) Your photography is awesome.
WOW!!!!! In a land far, far away....😁 Your videos are always fun to watch, no matter how short, or long they are; so as always, thank you for sharing. 👍🏼💪🏼 And your friend was a real trooper for coming along.
Hi, I'm your fans. I love Forrest content, a lot of people often choose city as their destination, but this content make people think why not try a new place, maybe a forrest? Amazing nature make you feel real peace and calm. Greetings from Indonesia 😁
Beautiful. I love it here. I live at the bottom of the hill and it’s been 100 degrees. I wouldn’t hike that in aug. I’d wait til oct. you’re luck you didn’t run into rattle snakes. Great video!
My wife and I are doing the "6 pack of peaks of SoCal." We have one more to go. It will be Baden Powell. Last week we did San Jacinto. Second highest mountain in SoCal. Gorgonio will have to sit and wait. It really can't go anywhere. I enjoyed your video of this trail. I saw your PCT hat. It's on the bucket list for next year, just have to adjust a couple of things. See you on the trail.
Wow 8 miles out and 8 back? I thought Baldy was tough. It looks a lot more lush and not cluttered with service roads like Baldy is. I will have to make it a point to explore those areas soon. Keep on.
Josh you need to keep the camera rolling. I know this was an all day hike, so I'm sure the sun was starting to set when you made it back to the car. I'm sure you guys all went to celebrate with an early dinner at In-Out or something. If you include some video footage of the "aftermath", it wouldn't be a bad thing. In fact, it would extends the experience for everyone watching. We enjoy what you do and the more we see...the more we "are there" with you guys...Keep on!!
Geno Frapuchino eat a good dinner with a medium amount of carbs, have an external battery for your cell phone charging, research the trail and known what to expect
Beautiful, I love it!! love all your videos and I am happy it's longer. thank you so much for showing us this piece of heaven. Keep up the great work!!!!!!!
Hi, we come from germany and will drive from San Francisco to Yosemite to Las Vegas by RV. Can you recommend the Tioga Pass(Highway 120) with RV? Thank you?
lmao this video has nothing to do with Tioga Pass. That being send tons of people RV Tioga. Its scenic and not too bad to drive but a bit curvy heading down into Lee Vinning.
What an awesome channel! Inspiration for my own hiking channel. I’m Just about hitting that 70 sub mark :) Great video mate, awesome instructions on how to get to the hike

When the world is chaotic, dark and cold, I run to this channel. Thank you.
Seeing the incredible mountain every day- thank's once again for showing me what the valley looks like from your perspective. Fabulous.
I enjoy the nature videos more than the in-town videos so I really enjoyed this one. Great video with lots of good tips.

Beautiful video. Havnt been too the top since i was young. When I was a teen we would hike straight up and didnt bother with the switch backs, the same on the way back down. Its alot faster coming down when ur sliding
Taking a video cam from the 80's would have been hell. Them things weighed 30 lbs

Wow 8 miles out and 8 back? I thought Baldy was tough. It looks a lot more lush and not cluttered with service roads like Baldy is. I will have to make it a point to explore those areas soon. Keep on.
Yea it is a lot longer then Baldy and also a lot less people on it which is nice.

Any tips on how you prepare yourself the night before a big hike? Thanks
Geno Frapuchino eat a good dinner with a medium amount of carbs, have an external battery for your cell phone charging, research the trail and known what to expect

That's like ideal conditions do you use Soy Products? I mean you didn't have any High Dew Points when you did the climb just asking. Great views.
Mr. Elastomeric1 WTF
Nice!
How many hours did you walk to get there on the top ?
Very good channel!
OK you said something that caught my attention What do you mean filtered water through the creek? Other than that great video like always
Oli Sch i think he meant it as the only place on the trail where you can collect water to filter for consumption
Yep, if you bring a water filter and run out then you can filter water to drink there.
How long does it take to get to the top? I'm 25 and in good shape.
VERY COOL, anther local adventure I can do!
How long did you take you to get to the top?, back down?, and total miles walked on your GPS?
It took us about 10 hours (less then 8 moving time though) to do the whole thing I think and total miles on GPS was right around 17
@@californiathroughmylens nice, will have work up to this hike, I think the altitude would get to me most.
great hike!
Love your content

What kind of app did you use for navigating the trail.
I use my eyes and my brain. It's a trail. You follow it to the top. Do you need an app to take a piss?
I live right across from the peak trail
What an awesome channel! Inspiration for my own hiking channel. I’m Just about hitting that 70 sub mark :) Great video mate, awesome instructions on how to get to the hike
Awesome, keep it up!
good video and very informative 👍
What app did you use as a 🗺
What's the temperature at the trailhead?
The Pacific Northwest has much better Serene hiking trails. You should definitely check it out.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice video
is it recommended to bring a bike or is it pedestrian only?
Thanks for the comment, I don't think bikes are allowed but I am not 100% sure

Who is Kirby? Yes. Longer videos!
He is just a friend of mine that has hiked with me in a few other videos. Thanks for the feedback!

Kirby Hays sounds like I wouldn’t want to mess with a Kirby. I’ll just admire one if I see one from afar. 😂.
Best time to avoid heat is do the hike overnight 🌸
Author, have you seen Jared?
Want to visit with you
I'm eager

Makes sense, California does have so much to do!
4:50 wheelbarrow is there to haul tired hikers.
haha, I wish it could have hauled me down the mountain
8 miles is better than 13 miles, if your legs give, at least you'll have 5 less miles to go
산넘어ㅡ 또 산이야....
Beware of the sasquatch's
Nice video
