The handheld cheese grater model is so old, we had that in the sixties. We had more drums though, so you could grate fine or not do fine and also cucumber slices. Sixties, so ours was all metal

A recipe you could use the sheeter for is a vegetarian, wheat-free lasagne my grandmother created. I don't know the exact recipe, nobody but her does, but I _do_ know that the "noodles" for the lasagne are slices of aubergines.
I'm going to try growing them for the 1st time this year, coincidentally. Disliked them as a child, but tastes change, so I'm giving it a go. You & your grandma just gave what may be my 1st dish for them. Thanks! ☮
@@echognomecal6742I don’t like aubergines, but I do like courgettes, and making a sheet-free/low-carb lasagna was the first thing I thought of when I saw that long slice of zucchini! If it turns out you still don’t like aubergines, try the courgettes instead. :)
@@DawnDavidson Hey thanks! I'm going to try growing them as well. Last year I only got 2 tiny ones. I'll have a couple of options now, awesome! Plus my vegan friend will be proud of me lol
Used to work in restaurants and a hack we used for grating soft cheese like at @12:25 was freeze soft cheeses before grating. Then, let it (the frozen, grated cheese) thaw at room temperature.
Dave I used to watch you all the time in 2018(my gosh that was 6 years ago), I just rediscovered your channel and your videos are still the same and I love it, keep up the great work!

Great video Dave. I liked the handheld rotary grater. I wonder how well it would work with other cheeses, like a bit softer cheddar. And I would love to see some recipes from the gadgets you try too, or just in general.
I like it that when he starts grating walnuts they are so hard his hand starts going everywhere because he is holding the gadget with his left hand and I'm guessing he's right handed so it vibrates like how ur car vibrates after u start it
11:40 So if what you are making DOESN'T need consistent onion cuts then it works for them otherwise you need to either find a different gadget for onins or do it by hand.
I love your videos! I've always been impressed at restaurants when they grate cheese over my pasta with the handheld grater, so it's time I got one for myself! I'm so glad you have links where to buy these - thank you!
You could fold the fruit and vegetables into decorative flowers to top entrees and deserts with. When you began rolling up the zucchini, it started to look like a rose, which is how I got the idea.
I think those gadgets have been around since the 70s at least. Probably the 1800s even,I'm old, but not that old! LOL. But it is interesting to see how well they work on various veg and fruits.
3:16 I'm actually eating an apple while watching this XD Legit when you put an apple on screen at the start of the video, I went downstairs and grabbed an apple, you inspired me to eat a fruit haha
My RUclips recommended is just Elden Ring challenge run, Elden Ring challenge run, British man reviewing kitchen gadgets, Elden Ring lore. This content is completely different from what I usually watch, but it is also weirdly addictive.
10:00 My granny had similar thing, however, that one wasn't made of plastic but of iron. It still works. You can even mince meat with it. Where will be this plastic peace in 70 years? 🧐
We love our small rotary cheese grater! Works really well. We use it almost exclusively for grating cheese onto pasta or salad. The one we have takes a bit of pressure to keep the pressure on the cheese or it stops grating properly. The one shown here looks better. The vegetable peeler-slicer would be AWESOME to make a low-carb/keto lasagna. :)
I love those cheese graters that you featured, but I personally prefer the grater that snaps into the PTO port of my KitchenAid stand mixer. Because it is using the mixer's motor, if your grater barrel is sharp enough you could chop up a louisville slugger with it.
I'm so immature, i laughed whenever he said "Knob" "Upright" "More Rotations" "This is so Long" "Even longer with a better technique" "Wow That's whopping" "Just a little bit more coming out" "There's some lovely fine nuts here" "
I’ve had that red cheese grater for 7 years and I have absolutely loved it. It does have its limits but it’s really held up to regular use. I am very impressed with it overall but I do wonder if they had made it out of metal if it wouldn’t be that much better
4:20 I like how instead of pushing the curled bit upwards and just carry on with measuring, Dave decided to shift the whole strip downwards by worming it over his hands and snapping the apple strip in the process lol
I think the main idea is things like sushi where thin veggies can be used for presentation, but veggie lasagna is a great idea. You could also cut the sheet into strips for veggie noodles
I have the red grater and i have love. Have had it for about 3 years now and its going strong 💪 i have not tried to do the pototaoes or ice but will do that! 😊

Interesting... I've seen both rotary graters used at Olive Garden, the bigger one first than the smaller handheld one. Nice to know you can now have your own cause the patients have expired.
With the Sheet slicer, try soaking the carrot in salt water for 2-3 days to soften it. If you cut alternating perpendicular slits down to the skewer, you can pull it out to create a really interesting fishnet effect. Try this as the base or cover of a cooked whole fish. This is a really nice high end effect I learned 30 years ago in a Chinese cookbook. Since I don't read Chinese, I had to experiment, pickling the carrot until I could force a wooden skewer through, making the slits and then carefully cutting the carrot into a uniform sheet with a very sharp knife. Difficult and time consuming, but a very professional presentation (like when you are serving a meal to a meeting of world leaders.) (I hope you can follow what I did from the description...)
I have had the same worktop rotary grater for about 6 months, and while its grating and slicing abilities are very good, the edges are still sharp and do a great job - there are issues you need to be aware of. Well, issue, a big one and thats the suction! I have found it to have a very narrow band of functionality. By that, I mean the surface needs to be spotlessly clean, super smooth, like marble or granite, and not old and knife damaged. Wooden surfaces no good, and old damaged worktops like ours cause it to come unstuck at the first signs of any pressure. If this happens at just the wrong moment, you really can give your cranking hand a bit of bash on the worktop or any nearby small appliances. Can you tell I speak from experience? 😂 I have tried several techniques to improve the suction but to no avail. So its a faff but I use it in a large glass baking tray, which in turn sits on a nonslip rubber mat, wedged into corner of worktop/walls. This seems to work and as its generally used if grating or slicing a lot, its worth the faff, because I have health issues which make the effort and strength needed for regular graters, or the handheld one you also demonstrated, not great for me. But, if you have appropriate surfaces, get your CC out and buy one, they are brilliant when they do work. 😊
