Thank you! Im making my first set and couldnt fully grasp the explanation in other vids for the crocheting bit, the close up really helped me a lot 😊❤ working on red and white ones, it hope I do well! 😅
Awesome! I went ahead and started installing my dread extensions as I make them, I find it much easier than doing one step at a time like I started off doing about a year ago lol barely installing them now after installing them as I go. I am ironing them after I boil them to seal them as well. DO NOT! IRON SYNTHETIC HAIR without a towel 😂
Thank you for posting this! Other tutorials never explained what to do with the frizzy bits of hair that stick out from your new dread! You wrap them around the dread and seal it in boiling water! **facepalm**! Greatly appreciate it!
Thank You i AM living in a country that si difficult or verty expensive to find something like this dreads ... And Now i Will try to make My owns ... Te etiquetare cuando lo haga ♥️
Stumbled on here from someone leaving a reply to a comment on another video Great video You should invest in a camera for an overhead view, in videos like these it seems the above angle would be a nice addition.
I've tried several different techniques and watch several different people and I still can't get the hair to blend over where it wants to part and just end up making a big god awful frizz ball
If you are crocheting, don't be afraid to grab strands and pull hard! It will tighten up your frizz ball, even if it feels like you are breaking the hair - I promise it will start shrinking down.
A lot of work like a lot of work lol although it’s super cute I would probably only make a couple pieces like this. I have my steamer that I use. I already don’t have enough time in the day lol
You absolutely can, but you will likely need to add quite a bit of extra hair to get thickness and fullness. We sell crochet clip sets, but they contain quite a bit of hair compared to a regular clip set - but definitely try it to see if it will give you the look you want. :)
There aren't - we actually don't do wavy dreads right now, but we have straight ones, and curling them is super easy with hot water dip methods - we have looooots of tutorials on that. :)
Hi there and thank you so much for all the information you provide to us! I could use them very well and finally I'm wearing my own done crochet synth dreads for the first time :) I'm happy! However they are quite dense and accordingly heavy..is it normal? Which kind of method do you use for doing yours if not crocheting them? They seem to be much lighter, more felxible and fluffier. It's possbile to do also light crochet dreads? And what about the marvellous slight waves in your dreads? How do you do them? Please share this secret with us! :) Looking forward to your answer! Cheers from Germany :)
Yes, crochet dreads can get quite heavy. It's a balance of making them too dense (and heavy) or not dense enough (too fluffy). Just try altering your backcombing to leave them a bit "fluffier" but without fly-away hairs. Does that make sense? Sometimes it's hard to put into words. :) I do all kinds of method for my hair - its a hodgepodge of whatever I was into for the moment, tbh. The slight wave in the ends - I like to put my hair up into buns a lot, so I twist it, and loop it over on itself - so it creates waves when I take it down. :) XoXo
Oh, I see! Okay, I'll try that for my next ones!. Me too I'd like to try a bun, however my dreads are simply too dense to create it. Thanks a lot for your fast + comprehensive replay :) May I also ask you, how many SE and DE have you installed? At the moment I prefer the SE as they are easier to handle for me and the DE at the back of the head somehow look unnatural after 2 weeks..
For my human hair dreads, i think I have about 50 SE. I like doing DE better when I had temporary dreads - but I don't like SE or DE grow out after a month and the DE were faster to redo. ;)
You can pretty much do any of the hair techniques in a very similar way. The only thing that synth hair doesn't respond to is chemicals like tighteners (since the hair isn't porous).
Looping the hair through condenses the hair in the middle while fanning it out on the sides which makes it easier to have control over the dreadlock shape...just saying
lol, its just the amount of hair that is pulled in each direction. The one on the site are much finer strands. :) There are LOTS of ways to make them look.
Not happy with the faux hair "blend" used in my hair. They feel plastic and the smoothness was a horrible choice. The girl I spoke with spoke like she understood. Now? I am faced with backtracking because she didn't quite use her expertise enough. If you know a blend product won't work? Why allow someone to have them installed? Also, applying the dread extension AFTER was not the method, and the 3-4 inches over laying into my real hair wasn't a technique used either. Anyway, don't really feel like complaining directly there because it just keeps energy where I don't want it. Thanks for the tutorial. Planning on helping others once I master my own.
Oh no! :( So sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. I hope this tutorial can get you where you want to be. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask :)
Hurray! That is so amazing to hear! And it's so cool that you want to help others. Some times it takes just a little bit of knowledge to make some epic changes
I don’t like snipping the end of my dreads😂 I don’t know why I just I don’t like it I like the little flyaway look 👀 😂 if someone who buys them from me wants to do that that’s great. But for me I like it I don’t know I like the messy look. I mean Robert Smith is still my idol lol
I purchased and received 3 packs of DE synthetic dreadlocks from you and they look more twisted than dreaded... what should I do? in using them to extend my own 6 month old dreads and they will not blend looking twisted. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do?
Thank you so much for answering back! I am taking your recommendation and will do real human hair extensions! I will be placing my order as soon as I have the money! :-)
His are natural dreads, crochet can be used to acheive this look - but they are made with afro bulk human hair. Check out our videos using afro bulk to make human hair dreads and extensions.
This video is great! I love how she continued to explain bc I’m a person who needs to hear and see things multiple times to grasp it
Happy to hear that this was helpful :)

Love your work. I just started my own Loc extension journey and I love every minute of it.
Awww, thank you so much!! Congrats on your journey too!

I made me a blonde dread Love it❤ Love it❤ Love it❤ NEW SUB ❤
Very informative and great technique. Thanks for sharing! Will this work on Remy human hair extensions?
Yes, absolutely it will.
Do you have a video that shows how to install them in your hair?
If you are creating them as single- ended dreadlocks, you can install them with this method ruclips.net/video/q4S2H8xxgUg/видео.html
Love it❤ I made me a blonde dread lock wig yesterday
That's awesome!
Hi I have a question. Can you also make double ended dreads with that method? Also ich really love the video❤
Yes of course! Thank you :)
I know this is an older video, but I really hope you can tell me what color blend your using ?!
Pretty sure its just a 27/613 mix.
Does the size of the crochet hook matter? I'm using a regular crochet hook, size 14/0.75mm, and I'm not sure if it's catching enough hairs.
Try using a 1.5, I think you'll find it works better.
Doctored Locks I'll try that. Thanks for replying.
Of course! Anytime :)
Yay! Glad it helped. :)

Thank you for the feedback :)
Doctored Locks welcome
Very helpful and professional. Thank you!
I have a problem with this technique feeling very itchy once installed. Is there a way to cut down on the itchiness of synthetic dread extensions??
If you do a hot water dip on them, it will soften them up. Just dip them in freshly boiled water and lay them flat to dry.
I've tried several different techniques and watch several different people and I still can't get the hair to blend over where it wants to part and just end up making a big god awful frizz ball

I need her to make mine 🎯❤️
I do have a similar style available here www.doctoredlocks.com/crochet-dreadlock-single-ended-piece-18-inch.html
11 days till I go from j Cole from 2014 to j coles dreads now 🥳🥳
That's exciting!
Where do you find a dread machine holder at they come smaller
I built this one! You could alter the design to make it smaller. ruclips.net/video/K_U0UZqhuqg/видео.html
Great tutorial I think this may be one of the best!
Awww, thank you!! :)
A lot of work like a lot of work lol although it’s super cute I would probably only make a couple pieces like this. I have my steamer that I use. I already don’t have enough time in the day lol
They do make great accents as well.
Can you do this same method on clip in extensions?
You absolutely can, but you will likely need to add quite a bit of extra hair to get thickness and fullness.
We sell crochet clip sets, but they contain quite a bit of hair compared to a regular clip set - but definitely try it to see if it will give you the look you want. :)
@@doctoredlocks Ah ok, makes sense! Thanks for the reply!
for DE dreads would yoy do the same just in two parts?
I was looking at your webpage, are their wavy/curly dreads for sale on the site?
There aren't - we actually don't do wavy dreads right now, but we have straight ones, and curling them is super easy with hot water dip methods - we have looooots of tutorials on that. :)
Where did you get those gloves? I'm trying to find something so I won't burn myself!
Any hardware store should have something that would work. They are for heavy chemicals - but work well for heat better than dish gloves. :)
what is that you're making the dread out of & can you buy it at the store?
Can wool be blended in to make the dreads lighter in weight?
Hey
Thank you 😊
Where can I buy that table to hold my extensions?
I have a video on how to create your own dreadloom here: www.doctoredlocks.com/making-dreadloom/
how many packs of synthetic hair you should roughly use to make a head of dreadlocks?
Each pack tends to make about 7 DE dreads. So if a regular set is about 70 dreads - you would need about 10 bags. :)
ok, thank you so much ;)
I already have natural dreads but how can I add length to them
Check out this tutorial for adding permanent extenders. www.doctoredlocks.com/permanent-extenders-dreadlocks/

Can you just do these the same way as the double ended that you done with just twisting and using the iron
This creates a different texture than the twist method.
@@doctoredlocks but the twist method does work
It will work for dread creation, yes. You will just have a different texture than the crochet method.
can you seal a crocheted dread using the flat iron method?
Can we use the nodes and crochet metode as well like when we use it on real hairs?
You can pretty much do any of the hair techniques in a very similar way. The only thing that synth hair doesn't respond to is chemicals like tighteners (since the hair isn't porous).

Thanks heaps love my dreads

how do I undo my synthetic locks?they were locked using kinki braids

how do i order for the fibre
You can order it here: www.doctoredlocks.com/kk-smooth-seal-jumbo-braid.html
Would like to see just how NOT stiff the dread is after the hot water 🙈 haha
No worries! You can look at this video: ruclips.net/video/OXvl_sZqyoQ/видео.html
At the end, you can see that they are much more flexible. :)

It's really tiresome bt I love the dreadlocks.
It does take a little more work for this style, but they turn out great :)

Too much work 🤦♀️
It does take some work, but you can achieve the desired texture.
