Pretty cool how the Gunstar has a gyroscopic cockpit, so that when Death Blosson is activated the ship spins while the pilots remain stationary on the same plane.
Excellent video, and top marks and thumb up for listing X-Bomber and the Colonial Vipers. Trivia fact, the Starfighter from Buck Rogers was an earlier design for the Colonial Viper for Battlestar Galactica, but creator Glen Larson instead used it for Buck Rogers In The 25th Century! List only seems to be missing the; "Earth Alliance" ships from Babylon 5 with the; Hyperion and Omega Class vessels from that series!
This was one of the painfully few videos of this nature that featured the Buck Rogers Thunder Fighter! Thank you so much for including it. The TF was sleek, sexy and original. It's too bad it's been forgotten by even most sci-fi fans.
Warhammer 40k Abbadons the Despoiler, Warmaster of the Chaos Legions Flagship; the Planet Killer. Imagine the Deathstar but meaner, more intimidating, Daemonicaly possesed and impervious to small fighters...
Very enjoyable! These are indeed epic spaceships, and I applaud the diversity of your selections. I'm just sorry that you limited yourself to 10. If you'll forgive the presumption, here are 10 of my favorites. The C57D - Forbidden Planet The Fireball XL5 - Fireball XL5 The Jupiter 2 - Lost in Space The Spindrift - Land of the Giants (not a true spacecraft, really, but what the heck) The Discovery - 2001 a space odyssey The Phoenix - Doppelganger The Valley Forge - Silent Running The Yamato - Space Battleship Yamato The Macross - Super-Dimension Fortress Macross (also love the version seen in the movie remake, Do You Remember Love?) The Red Dwarf - Red Dwarf
SDF1 from Robotech, The liberator from Blakes 7, The Andromeda Ascendant from Andromeda, Moya from Farscape, The Valley Forge from Silent Running, The Galactica and other Battlestars, and the Cylon Baseships, The Angel interceptor from Captain Scarlett, Arcadia from Space Pirate Captain Harlock, The Fiery Phoenix from Battle of the Planets, Lexx from Lexx, Jupiter Mining Corporation mining ship Red Dwarf from Red Dwarf.
Useless information time: The Last Starfighter = one of the earliest films to have it's effects created with CGI circa 1984. The Cray MX super computer used to create them had about half the power of an Xbox 360.
and then you have the White Star (B5), the Miranda-Class starships from Star Trek (USS Reliant NCC-1864 being such an example), the Avatar-class Titan from EVE, the biomechanical base stars from Battlestar Galactica, and speaking of living ships - Moya (and Talyn. Don't ever forget Talyn).
I love the Eagle too. It's the only one in this list that actually makes sense both in terms of engineering and fitness for purpose. I mean come on, the Millenium Falcon is a cargo ship ? There's exactly zero room for cargo inside it :-D
Its the big pincers at the nose that grip giant cargo containers hence the side mounted cockpit. Thats probably why its so fast, oversized basic engines to push big cargo pods that have been further upgraded.
Its funny to me how asking fans of the genre for a top 10 list will generate so many different answers. I love the effort in making this. Its not the list I would have made. Its still good work and any constructive critiques can be see from others. I would have included the Star Fury from B-5. The B-wing from star wars. Destiny from Stargate. Truth and Reconciliation from Halo. Enterprise NX-01 (just because I love that ship, Space Battleship Yamato, the VF-1 Valkyrie from Robotech, Astrotrain (because its a space train), and well I could go on and on. I think I'd have done a lot less stuff on the Falcon and just made a bigger list. Still, there were things on this list I haven't thought about in a while so that was nice being reminded of them. Thanks
Good vid. But I'm as usual disappointed to see that nobody ever mentions the Liberator from British sci-fi series Blakes 7. Surely that deserves a mention
You forgot the Liberator from Blake's 7. Also the Eagle had two fundemental problems. First of all there was nowhere to store any fuel and it didn't have an airlock which meant you would have to depressurise the whole cabin before going into space.
OK, an interesting and some very predictable selection of ships but in place of the eagle transporter I would've gone with the either the Liberator or the Scorpio from Blake's 7 the liberator because of the advanced alien tech it has on board along with regenerative abilities to not just repair the ship but also it's power supply, huge amounts of fire power, the drive unit is also a very unique design would possibly make the Liberator the fastest in the selection, the Scorpio would be because that ship fooled the corrupt Federation forces for quite a while, being a Wanderer Class Mark 11 Planet Hopper which just passed unoticed untill their pinching of the photonic drive from the Space Rats, then the ship went onto the federation's must have list. Those two ships could've been put in.

Awesome List, I agree with 9 out of 10. You added the Time Machine from Dr. Who and frankly put I don't believe this to be a Space Ship more so than a Time Traveling Device. I would have rather seen the Babylon 5 Starfury in place of the Time Machine. Granted it shares many characteristics as the Ship from Guardians of the Galaxy, minus the paint job, it's still a formidable ship none the less... Even any Vorlon Ship would have been a better choice over a time machine... Cheers Mate...

Because toggle switches are simple and reliable, they aren't dependent on software which can experience bugs at critical times and they're always in the same place doing the same thing meaning a trained operator with practice and muscle memory can A) know what is supposed to be on and off just at a glance and B) alter those settings very quickly without even so much as barely looking at them. Touchscreens are great in some applications, but controlling a vehicle's systems when one must operate them quickly and without focusing on them is not one of them. Physical controls are better.
Bah! Didn't think when I clicked it was about ships that had been rendered in film. Get some Iain M Banks in yer next clip my man, smallest of em would put all here to shame :)
gunstar, one of the most epic star fighters of it's genre. And you did miss one truly epic fighter, Babylon 5's earthforce star fury. My all time fave ship. over all a pretty good video.
I was lucky enough to have one of the Black Omega collectible models of that ship. It was a beautiful craft and several of the other ships were also very nice IMO like the White Star. Great show.
what do you think of Valérian & Laureline's Spaceship (Intruder/XB982) Even the Millenium Falcon is based on it & it can travel through space & time :p ?
Am I the only sci-fi geek that liked Babylon 5?? I think the Vorlon ship that the ambassador had was the best of all! But several of the ships in that show would have made my list. I mean, if it's just about aesthetics, and since none of these are real...
Okay first off this guys sounds as charismatic as part time retail staff. Also why is most of the list skipped though while the falcon gets the majority of the runtime. And during that time Lando is cut out for some reason , only to be replace with a line by Han from episode 4??? Racist much?
"One massive body at close range". He distinctly said "one", "massive", and "body", not "the ship wildly spins around while shooting randomly and, in defiance of all odds, actually hits stuff."
I enjoyed watching the video, but if I may make a constructive criticism. There was not enough time devoted to some of the choices compared to others. The Serenity got less than two lines of dialogue for example, whereas the Millennium Falcon, had far too much time, and the number of film scenes for it was IMHO a bit excessive. While no one's going to ever agree on all the most epic ships, I personally would have liked to see the Liberator from Blake's 7 up there.
Super! Schau ich mir immer wieder gerne an. 🙂
Pretty cool how the Gunstar has a gyroscopic cockpit, so that when Death Blosson is activated the ship spins while the pilots remain stationary on the same plane.
Very good Video !!! 👍🙂👍
The X-bomber was one of my very favourite series ever! Now I have to watch them all again!
Deimos Station In the UK the Series was called Starfleet
Gunstar, one of the epic starfights of all time, but I like the desciption of the death blossem in the book over what they did in the movie
Super !!!
There is only one ship for me , Pride of Hiigara
I've always liked the Space Battleship Yamato with it's Wave Motion Gun.

Jump straight from talking about the Serenity to the Gunstar. Literally, "this is the Serenity from the TV show. The Gunstar..."
Really got hung up with the Millenium Falcon.
Very enjoyable! These are indeed epic spaceships, and I applaud the diversity of your selections. I'm just sorry that you limited yourself to 10. If you'll forgive the presumption, here are 10 of my favorites.
The C57D - Forbidden Planet

The Discovery - 2001 a space odyssey
The Phoenix - Doppelganger
The Valley Forge - Silent Running
The Yamato - Space Battleship Yamato
The Macross - Super-Dimension Fortress Macross (also love the version seen in the movie remake, Do You Remember Love?)
The Red Dwarf - Red Dwarf
Personally, I love the style of Star Blazers/Yamato ships.
Shame the "Liberator" didn't make the list.
Best looking ship ever! Blakes 7 went downhill after it's destruction.
SDF1 from Robotech, The liberator from Blakes 7, The Andromeda Ascendant from Andromeda, Moya from Farscape, The Valley Forge from Silent Running, The Galactica and other Battlestars, and the Cylon Baseships, The Angel interceptor from Captain Scarlett, Arcadia from Space Pirate Captain Harlock, The Fiery Phoenix from Battle of the Planets, Lexx from Lexx, Jupiter Mining Corporation mining ship Red Dwarf from Red Dwarf.

good selection but missing many!

Almost the entire thing is about the Millenium Falcon while others barely get mentioned beyond their name.!
"The garbage'll do" ^_^
X-Bomber and Buck Roger's ship. Some of the best unmentioned ships!
I do like how a lot of the old classic spaceships were in this, rather than just a bunch of new ones. {:-)
InternetGravedigger thanks age has a lot to do with it😂

wtf, actis ETA-2 and starfury are missing :( coolest designs ever
Hammerhead from Space Above and Beyond! as mentioned earlier!
Death blossom should be an option for any inner city vehicle purchase.
Starfleet. Oooh so THAT'S what that show was called! I remember seeing it when I was like five or something.
Discovery One - 2001
Nostromo - Alien
Red Dwarf - Red Dwarf

OMG X-Bomber! Thank you
Agreed!
I loved that show and that ship.
Interesting Fact: The Star Fleet theme tune was written by Brian May of Queen.
Yup!
Actually it was'nt. Brian May's kids watched the show and he did a version with Eddie Van Halen

If you look at all these 10 ships that you mention, only the Space 1999 Eagle Transport can be made with today's technology.
Couldn't be used for Earth to orbit (no practical heat shield, it would burn up on reentry) but for going between space stations, asteroid mines, and lunar colonies it would be perfect. Also it's modular, they never shown in on _Space:1999_ but the mid section could be swapped out, making it a multi-role, multi-mission spaceship.

Cant argue with your choice of ships,I liked pretty much most of them anyways.
7:26 The Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs!? Never before or since!
"...in less than 12 parsecs" -I always liked that reference. A parsec being a reference of distance not not time, implies that the ship had to fly the straightest possible course (shortest distance between two points being a straight line) so probably this meant the ship had to closely skirt Empire outposts, black holes, super-novae, asteroid fields, etc, whereas more conventional ships would route a safer, longer flight plan to avoid these dangerous obstacles. Speed was not the convention here but covert navigation, maneuverability, and ability to elude threats to the ship was the implication.

Do you make any distinction between Science Fiction and Science Fantasy?
I love the gun star so much
Nice vid, just wondering though what about 'The Anastasia' from the old 1950s-1960s Eagle comic strip 'Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future'?

SPACESHIPS .............XD
Why is it that the space ship is supposed to be advanced alien tech and they have primitive toggle switches on board? LOL!

The T.A.R.D.I.S. Is not A spaceship, but a time capsule. It should be in a coolest time travel machines video.

What no HEART OF GOLD.???
not bad missed 4 to my mind starfury from b5 and the whitestar, uss defiant and the liberator from blakes 7
You missed X-wings, but otherwise rock solid.
👍😀👍
7:50 But why is it right-hand drive?
Okay first off this guys sounds as charismatic as part time retail staff. Also why is most of the list skipped though while the falcon gets the majority of the runtime. And during that time Lando is cut out for some reason , only to be replace with a line by Han from episode 4??? Racist much?
Why not Jupiter II from Lost in Space? Not enough weapons?

👍
"One massive body at close range". He distinctly said "one", "massive", and "body", not "the ship wildly spins around while shooting randomly and, in defiance of all odds, actually hits stuff."
Volley dimwit, he's saying volley. Good Christ what's wrong with you kids today?
Editing was really bad and you read this no enthusiasm. Good choice of ships though.
How about the SA-43 'Hammerhead from Space:above and beyond?
Hammerheads are indeed epic fighters, one of the few fighters I believe could match an earthforce star fury from B5.
makaras ship looked better
I enjoyed watching the video, but if I may make a constructive criticism.
There was not enough time devoted to some of the choices compared to others. The Serenity got less than two lines of dialogue for example, whereas the Millennium Falcon, had far too much time, and the number of film scenes for it was IMHO a bit excessive.
While no one's going to ever agree on all the most epic ships, I personally would have liked to see the Liberator from Blake's 7 up there.
it 's a trap!
Incoherent. Deliberate, or just bad editing?
Did you notice your video is exactly 13:37 long? ;)
