I'm so glad you're back! Like others have said, your insights to this masterful show is the one i'm most looking forward to! Can't wait for you to dive into more of Mike Flanagan shows! They are all as good as Hill House imo!
I am so happy you are back! Thank you for finishing this series, you are by far the best reactor I have seen to cover this beautiful show. I hope you and your family are well.
Thank you so much Melanie that is so kind of you to say. We are doing well 💚. Definitely weird timing watching this show when I did, but it was almost helpful in a way. I'm definitely looking forward to watching more Mike Flanagan in the fall. Hope you are having a good summer!
@@catchingupkate I am looking forward to watching more Flanagan with you! I have been fighting cancer for the last 9 months and have had a lot more free time to watch reactions. You pick up on all the subtle things and make it so rewarding. So glad to hear you are doing well!
I literally binge watched all 10 reactions yesterday in one sitting. Wasn't my intention at first, but i loved your thoughts and analysis and the way you watched this show so attentively i couldn't stop haha. The way you predicted so many things was very impressive to me. And i loved how you got the characters and the show! I can't wait for your next Flanagan reactions! To push the algorithm, I will leave a comment on the 9 other videos, but they will be copy & paste bc I'm too lazy for that today. Please forgive me!
Thank you so much and I'm so sorry for the delay in my response! I am very much looking forward to watching more Mike Flanagan. I thought I was going to be ready for it this season, but I may need a little time. For transparency two days after I finished this series my youngest brother unexpectedly passed away. The show may have come at the right time to help me through. I will definitely be watching eventually though!
@@catchingupkate I am so sorry for your loss. I have 3 older siblings and can only imagine what you must have gone through since he passed away. I lost my best friend unexpectedly 3 years ago, so I know grief and how much it hurts to loose a loved one. i wish you much strength from the bottom of my heart. May your brother rest in peace.
Looking forward to continue watching your mike flanagan journey! :) Said it on the BB video earlier but i'll mention it again here, nice to see you again. :)
Hey! I just randomly watched through your Haunting of Hill House reactions recently and wondered why you hadn't finished, so I checked out the comments. I hope you and your family are doing well now. Nice to see you back.
Viewed through the lens of mental illness, different main characters suffer from different issues (depression, addiction, etc.), but Olivia would have schizophrenia and Poppy would be some type of psychotic (manipulative, etc.). - To your question about weather it was poppy or the house or the combination of the two, I certainly think Poppy is the main driver of the friction, especially for Olivia who then becomes the antagonist. We see the other ghosts be either neutral or even nice (like the old lady ghost and what we assume was Abigail's grandmother (Mr. Dudley's mother) who comes to take her ghost away at the end of the 9th episode). Olivia tells Shirly in episode 2 that in the end we are stories. - My take is that Steve's very literal rewriting of the story at the end was just a way to make peace with the (true) story. Weather or not the house is evil, Olivia and Poppy are definitely evil at this point (remember, it was dead Hugh who had to open the door, not Olivia, and as Steve left, Olivia clearly, predatorily watches Steve leave).
I've always thought of the house like a pitcher plant, keeping them inside while it fed on them. Not necessarily actively evil, though I'm sure that the bugs trapped inside a carnivorous plant might think it monstrous.

Very insightful commentary, especially on a first watch - hope you continue with the other Flanagan series! Each are great in their own way.
Thank you so much! I definitely plan on continuing soon for fall!
So glad you came back to finish the series. Hope everything is good with you.

Still waiting for a series to dethrone this show as the best written piece of TV ever.....
It will definitely hold a special place for me watching it when I did. I'm looking forward to watching more Mike Flanagan soon

Olivia is overly possessive and protective, not evil
