- Fan made remake in unreal editor 4 of the opening level from Croc: Legend of the Gobbos! This was meant to be a one week challenge using our own made assets, unreal market place assets and assets from the original game. While most of it was done in a week life got in the way and it turned into a month.
The video is a bit choppy sorry because my pc is not the most powerful!
Made by two of us although all sound was taken from the original game. We do not take any ownership over any of this or any of the original Croc IP/Content and have only created this as a love note to the original game. We have also chosen only to do the first level so not to step on the toes of the Croc rights owners if they want to reboot/remake the franchise one day!
Anyway please enjoy and thank you for playing and when there is official released for Croc please support them! :D
(Just a note.. very buggy... haha )
For anyone who would like to try it

You know what's great? I just found out from Wikipedia that there's an HD remake that's in development right now!
Yes it was confirmed in June last year
Not going to lie. This is probably the greatest Croc fan remake that I've ever seen. Thank you so much for doing this. Would love to see a true remaster of the full game someday. Croc doesn't get a lot of love in this day and age.
Awee thank you so much for the kind words 😊 Apparently on of the original creators is planning on rebooting it so I can't wait for that either! (And yeah it deffinately needs more love... If bubsy can make a comeback croc should be allowed to haha)
The transition between the underground and overground area is actually very good, I would love it they do that in an official remake. It makes the world seem larger :)
Thank you! That was a little debate we had when making it was do we just fade to black between sections in the original or make it continuous but continuous won out! We still did a fade to black for the "Secret Area" though just because we could not think of a nicer way to do it xD
this is criminally underrated, I loved Croc as a kid man
Yeah I loved it too xD soon as I hear the music again the games always stuck in my head for a while haha!
This is absolutely fantastic.
Incredible good work.
Easily the best fan remake I’ve seen.
Hopefully the team behind the HD remaster do an incredible job.
I absolutely love Croc 1&2 the first one a lot more
That looks like a solid foundation there for a complete remake.
Awee thank you 😊 would of loved to do more and refine it but as I said elsewhere there is a planned official remake ... no idea if it will ever surface but would rather not step on the creators toes
this is so great! you captured the vibe perfectly.
Thank you so much we really wanted it to be faithful!
I so highly approve of this. THIS is what we need today for consoles.
Another grand redux.
Now I played MEDIEVIL, both original and redux. They didn't need to replace the narrator from the original.
And this video? It's pure magic and using the original sounds just nails it perfectly!
Don't think you could beat the original music for this it's so dam good haha! And thank you for the kind comment :)
We are in luck a HD remaster has been officially confirmed to be in development.
I played all three versions of Medievil loved the PS4 remake of it most.
Wish they would remake Medievil 2 as well
The nostalgia hits so hard with this... I would LOVE a full HD remake of this classic.
Confirmed earlier this month to be in the works!

Honestly I think they should make a new Croc game with this graphic design
Nicely done
Thank you :)
holyyy shit i was like probably 5 when i first played my first game on console it was this game. also the same time i discover what whipping the deck is and the rest was history.
It looks great, but somehow I feel that with updated camera movement it's gonna be tougher to play. but damn, hearing that music again ...
Wow very beautiful, I think I'll play it too
If actual game devs had the drive and passion that people on youtube do, the world would be a much better place, methinks.
Thank you that means a lot :) Currently redoing another PS1 game that could really do with some modern attention!
This is excellent
Honestly looks better than the actual remaster, aside from the choppy frame rate at times
It looks pretty good, a tad bit too much bloom tho but thats just a nitpick really.
Thanks for the feedback! And yep definitely a bit too much haha
HD Croc look good
Man we need this ❤️
Yeah I really hope there is an official remake soon enough! :D
The best remake of Croc Ive seen. For a months time with two people on it this was a really great effort. I wish we could see the whole game
Thanks a lot for the kind comments :) And would love to make more but trying to not step on peoples toes haha!
Awesome job keep going please
Wow that's amazing! It looks so good!
Thank you so much :)
Outstanding
Oh wow this looks amazing. All those memories are flooding back 😊 I wish they would bring this back, to steam like what happened with shadowman and turok. Since argonaut is gone God knows who holds the rights to Croc anymore
Awee thank you so much we are very happy it gave you a trip down memory lane :) Apparently the creator San owns the rights to it and its not a matter of if but when it will get a reboot which is awesome! :D
When the games get remade, the graphic should be just like these.
Awee thanks for saying that 😊 And awesome Ahsoka profile pic!
@@WasAHorseProductionshave you seen the trailer?
A straight remaster wouldn't work. It has too many camera issues. It needs a remake.
This is pretty sick tho, colored diamonds could use some spin animation to look a lot less static and it seems a lot brighter thatn the original one but it's fantastic. Would be great if u guys did at least a demo for the first world, so sad it's not gonna happen 'cause copyright.
Love ur work, keep it up
Thank you so much for the feedback :)
Was not too worried about copyright for this though, more so Jez San has publicly said before he wants to do a remake so would rather not be rude and infringe on his plans for that!
Brilliant work. Very well done!
Thank you so much 😁
0:00 where my gaming journey began
Wish they would re-master for ps4 /
One of the original creators seems to want to get that ball rolling thankfully :)
Confirmed in early production a few weeks ago!
Damn this could be so good!
Awee thank you 😊
this totally amazing
Thank you very much :)
Wow, great job!! Love Croc ❤
Thank you! Croc is awesome and we really need a proper remake already! :D
wow fax
Very nice!
Thank you very much😊
Bit of a strange question, what sound effect library did you find the glissando/sparkle sound at 0:29 in? I've been looking for it in full quality for a long time!
Strange is fine haha! And well if you google "croc legend of the gobbos audio dump" there should be a link to vg resource where someone has ripped the files. I can't remember well but I think they are sorted a bit confusingly but all the files are in there so just check everything!
@@WasAHorseProductions Thanks! Just happy to finally have a lead
Good job.
Thank you! :)
The motion blur its excesive
Thanks for the feedback! And yes.. yes it is xD It's just the default Unreal Editor 4 blur and it can be toggled in the menu or with a console line (Hoping I remembered a menu option for it now that I think about it...) .
You have forgot about the secret place. :(
Maybe just in the video ;) (It's in game I promise haha)
Well, Croc is actually abandonware now, so I don't think they'll ever bring back the game. If you have time, you should really consider expanding the project a bit
Thank you for vote of confidence 😁 Jez San has mentioned he wants to reboot it with kickstarter actually so if he ever says stuff it I'll pump more levels out! Although I'd be happy to give him the build so he can continue on himself, I would be super happy about that actually haha 😄 just put our names in the credits and it's all yours Jez haha
Im huge into 3D platformers and this seems to be one of the cult hits among the genre with a big fan following, I personately still don't get the appeal. So really intersted in hearing what made you love this experience so much as a fan?
Hey there! Well hmm first I will admit Croc is quite janky to say the least haha and I know this is a bit of a cop out as an answer but I think it's one of those things where you had to grow up with it. It was quite unique for its time and it had a few things that carried it like a really cute style full of character, amazing really catchy music and the game itself was quite original back then. I still find myself humming the theme song every so often as well haha!
These days definitely janky though with poor camera, controls and pretty crummy bosses for a while xD But had happy memories with it like the nice lady next door lending me it ad warcraft 2 to play etc etc haha!
Hope that gives a little insight!
@@WasAHorseProductions thanks for the comprehensive explaination I have exactly the same relationship with Kao the Kangaroo round 2 so I do understand totally although as the years passed I started researching myself and why that particular game gave me so many happy memories and I came to quite interesting insights about myself as a person. I for instance found out that the camera angle and the lay-out of the levels had a huge impact on me liking that particular experience and more experiences I really like. I found this really interesting as those things are not the first things you think about when researching game experience and I feel that I therefore found some interesting hidden values that might play a role in the huge fan following of that game aswell. As it is another one of those genre cult hits.
I never really got what it was for croc, but when you put it in that particular time frame I guess it indeed makes a lot of sense and I love your reasoning. I might want to do further research on the 3D platformer from a experience perspective in the future. What I especially like is that you called them themeparks or themeworlds in your video. I think that there is also a huge part of the apeal of the genre. They do feel like visiting Disney themeparks with their atmosphere and that attention to atmosphere and how the world looks is something I think thid genre of games excells in.
@@wimberkers6901 This is really interesting, I'm intrigued about how you did your research to come to conclusions such as the one you mentioned. I think it's something that would be very valuable for people that have nostalgia for a certain game or film, etc. and want to know why it grew on them so much.
And it would also be extremely valuable for game developers like myself to figure out what it is about certain games that they like so much, which could help inform their game design choices. So if you don't mind, is there a way I can personally message you so we can discuss this?
I don't know why you are showing the 'creators' respect when they have clearly abanddoned this franchise, no more re-releases, you can't buy it on steam or anything, the only reason we can still play it is because of fan patches.
Hey there! Well one of the creators Jez San has said on his twitter and every so often he wants to reboot it and go to kickstarter or something actually! There is always the chance it's tied up in a legal mess too
Shut up and take my money
If only we could haha 🤣
I would love to try it, but the .rar is password protected and I cannot unrar it.
No idea how that happened but it's been re uploaded as a zip now!
@@WasAHorseProductions Thank you very much!
@@WasAHorseProductions It still requires a password. I still can't unzip it.
@@impendingsunlitbellrelocat2881 I re uploaded it to itch just as a zip not a rar which was made with the default windows tool! Maybe try a different unzip program!
ah yes
3fps
Thanks for the watch! As I said in the description the video is a bit choppy sadly but that was due to my pc at the time! The game ran perfectly fine on my GTX 1650 but the recording always would come out a choppy mess... Replaced the card since though thankfully!
