    Great stuff bro! A trick: I like to use the mirror option when sketching logos. It's great as you don't need to worry about the flipping. After that, I turn that off and work on the letter forms of the right half of the logo. Keep these tutorials coming, love em!

    • @SpearheadMedia
      @SpearheadMedia  3 года назад +4

      Cheers matty boy, hope you're keeping well! I find that live mirroring just throws me off real bad and I can't focus on my first half of the letterforms but that's a personal preference and I can see how some might benefit from it more. I shall indeed mate, thanks for tuning in!

    love that i found this channel. I'm an aspiring graphic designer and have done some flyers, logos and demo covers for local bands. Would you recomend studying graphic design for this type of stuff?

    • @SpearheadMedia

      Awesome dude, that's how I started a number of years back - making posters/logos for local shows and bands. I then studied graphic design and learned loads within the discipline that I could apply to my own style and develop my own business. If you're in a position to study even for a year or two I fully recommend it and wish you all the best going forward! Many thanks mate 🙏

      how do you even start making logos for bands?

    • @SpearheadMedia
      @SpearheadMedia  2 года назад +7

      Get involved in your local scene. Put on gigs, book tours, play in bands etc. Be proactive in your local music scene and show people there your logos and then offer to create some for bands you know.

    Hey man! Informative video and it helped me a ton! Just wanted to ask why you made it in Photoshop instead of Illustrator considering that vector graphics are supposedly better for logos? Is this just a personal preference or something else? Just wanted to get an insight :D

    • @SpearheadMedia
      @SpearheadMedia  3 года назад +5

      Great question! While industry standard logo work should exclusively be vector format (lossless scalability!), this tutorial is aimed more at quick and gritty logo design. This design for example is only about 4 hours work while a similar project in illustrator with pen tool could take x5 that time to get perfect - Photoshop with a drawing tablet is akin to drawing on paper which is nice and quick. A little trick to vectorise raster based logos is to use the image trace function in illustrator or even a free software called inkscape, although you can expect to lose some detail in that process.
      Cheers for checking it out and I hope this helped a bit mate! Best of luck with all of your designs 🙏

      Oi cheers for the feedback mate, hope this vid helps ya.
      Beginner tablets I would recommend are the Wacom Intuous S which is around €99 and is a really solid little tablet, as well as the Huion Kamvas 13 which is a display tablet (essentially a 13" monitor you draw onto) which costs around €220.
      Both are great little machines that I fully recommend - it all depends what you're hoping to spend. Hope that helps mate!

    Hi there. I have a question about the start of a Logo. I made a logo with 2000px x 2000px with 300dpi. Is this enough for the future? Like when I want to make a T-shirt design or making a poster, tour poster and sorts of that? Thanks in advance.
    this channel is really awesome to learn about photoshop!
    best regards Andy

    • @SpearheadMedia
      @SpearheadMedia  Год назад

      Hi Andy, really glad to hear that the vids are useful for ya!
      2000px is definitely fine for posters etc, but for merch design I would try to go for 5000px wide minimum to make sure the print captures as much detail as possible. Of course, vector logos is always best for large format such as backdrops etc, but once your raster logo is big enough you can automatically vector it with the trace feature in Illustrator or even free vector software like Inkscape.
      Hope that helps mate! ⚔️

      Hi buddy, cheers for checking out the vid! Yep I believe it's definitely achievable with a mouse, when I first started I was using a mouse and this free software my dad got on CD with a camera back in the 00s haha. However if you're interested in a cheaper alternative to current and expensive display tablets I'd recommend checking out second hand Wacom Bamboo's or Wacom Intuos tablets - they're solid little things that are super durable!
