This song, for me, is the *INTRODUCTION of BTS's rap line*.
RM talks about his old school hip hop influences and what this culture represents to him and how he came to it. The early age at which he fell in love with rap and the respect he has for hip hop and what being a rapper means to him, which goes beyond just following a beat, the message is the essence.
Jhope did not rap before he was in BTS (in fact, RM and SUGA helped him in the early years, in addition to his own study and effort, until he found his own style) but he was part of the hip hop world as an underground dancer. He has developed a style that reflects the good ear and natural rhythm he has, his flow, his cadence, his swag...jhope dances with the beat while he raps, fabulous!
SUGA's verse is beautiful, although he doesn't mention his influences such as EPIK HIGH (an influence for all 3) or EMINEM (the first album he bought was his), he tells his story and how hip hop came into his life naturally and although many tried to stop him, rap persisted in him and became his everything. SUGA's verse is the story of any rapper who feels passion for music and hip hop culture..."If loving this culture is a sin, I'll die over a hundred times"
    THANKS FOR YOUR REACTION! 💜

8:25 the rapper that comes in right there actually is the dance leader of the group, he was first a dancer before he turned to rapping because of Suga and RM. Thats y he says his enrollment was felt with his body, because it started with dance.

At bts base is hip hop. They love it and to this day you will notice they have it on every album or record they put out. They love the culture so very much. They actually came to America in 2014 and were mentored by Warren G and Coolio. These boys have a lot of respect for the culture and any influence you hear in their music you best believe they actually studied it and know their shit. And I mean Any genre, not just hip hop. Because they're so involved in the composing, writing and composition of their songs and music videos they do research on a lot of things and they try to learn about all the elements they use. They pay homage a lot in their music and their videos. If you watched their dynamite video you can tell how much they know about the genre of the song and all the references they make are just top notch.

Totally agree with you on how hip hop has transcended boundaries and generations. I was born in East Africa, late 90s, discovered hip hop first through Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, "The message" just astounded me so much, like how does one depicts society in such a raw form over an upbeat rhythm and it was a journey after that. Hip hop has saved millions, I believe, gave people a voice when they needed it. It really is powerful. Love your reactions to BTS, too. Actually when BTS just started, RM, the leader, just bring all the members together and made them listen through his extensive collection of hip hop.

I think you'll like We On, another super underrated hip hop focused song, it's a diss track, and it's super cathartic once you know their struggles and where they come from

Hip hop is definitely the greatest cultural export from US. Specifically of black culture. I’m from the middle of nowhere in Mongolia and I got hooked listening to Wu-Tang. How crazy is that! My husband didn’t understand a word of English but was vibing to A Tribe Called Quest 😆. This was back in early 90s so there’s no internet, but it still made it though.

I'm glad you checked this out. I dug it the first time I heard it. BTS is BangTan Sonyeondan or Bulletproof Boyscouts. They've gone through a lot of styles of music throughout the years. They always have rap in their projects, but the most "hip hop" sounding stuff were from their first 4 projects. They add a song or two in the later albums, at least from my experience. Once I get to react to their latest album, BE, I'll watch your reaction. Until next time!

So many hiphop gems in their discography. Because of BTS, I was able to dive more in music and also appreciate hiphop which I don't usually listen to before. 😊

15:45 Fun fact! BTS actually have used different meanings for BTS with their documentary titles. They have 3 tour documentaries:
    Burn The Stage
    Bring The Soul
    Break The Silence
Their first docu is actually available on RUclips Premium, whilst their second and third one are exclusively in the cinema and on their mobile app for fans called Weverse.

interesting when you said CES be putting different acronyms for their albums, BTS also did the same, but for their movies and docu-series.
First in 2018, there were Burn The Stage movie and docuseries of their 300 days journey during the BTS Trilogy: Wings world tour.
Then in 2019, we have Bring The Soul, showcasing their backstage experiences during their Europe concerts while exploring the message of 'Love Yourself' with their own personal stories.
The latest installment, 'Break The Silence' released in 2020, exploring the concept of 'Persona' - the front/facade BTS members put on as a member of the biggest musical group in the world. They discussed their inner conflicts between the true self and stage persona, during Love Yourself; Speak Yourself world tour.
By the way, BTS - stands for BangTan Sonyeondan which translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts
