I always wonder why people don't run the side pieces all the way through the top and bottom. Wouldn't it make sense to eliminate the exposed end grain on the sides and have the plugs in the top and bottom where they'll never be seen? Honestly curious (I'm not being a sm@rt@$$).
So typically the top and bottom should be within the side. So sides running all the way up and down., especially for wall mounted. The physics and esthetic support that. And with that said, it's his cabinet and it's the way he built it.
