Shot a beautiful Upstate, NY 9 point with a QAD Exodus this morning, double lung pass through on a quartering away shot. Went 15yrds and tipped over. Reliability is the name of the game.
Better of been using the non barb one here in ny lol. Busting your balls fellow ny hunter you could of shot it with a exploding Rambo tip for all I care. Congrats on deer.
Thanks for the testing John. B3 must’ve stepped up their game for this head. Throughout all of your testing and the blades never broke off at the anchor/pivot point which is definitely something different for their mechanical heads under torture or even in my crossbow target after a few shots. As it is right now, the only B3 head that I shoot and trust is the Destruct Max 125. I would love to see the Max in a 150!
I know steel plates and concrete blocks are not real world, but personally I have a little bit of a hard time buying mechanicals that can't make it through the Lusk protocol. Mr. Lusk said it best at the end about the trade-offs though. I'm sure I will come back to mechanicals someday though.
I've seen some pictures on Facebook of the sevr tips curling after hitting deer bone and others saying they have had the same experience. Do you have anything you could test this with?
I have used sevr they are extremely durable shouldn't be concerned. I dont think there is a debate that a really good fix head is more durable then a good expandable but certain really good expandables are more durable then a fairly good fix blade and sevr is one of them.
I have had that happen twice using a Sevr. The 1.5 has a more stout tip than the others. But when a heavy bone is hit at an angle, that tip can curl a bit. That’s the case with pretty much every broadhead. It’s happened to me twice out of about 30 animals I’ve taken. And both of those animals were harvested quite readily.
Of the over the top deployment styles (this style is fading away rapidly) this is an interesting approach, and I like a lot of what they did with it. However, the small entry hole is just part of the design and that for me is a difficult one to overlook. I think they have an opportunity for a huge improvement in this design by simply tripling or even quadrupling the thickness of the blades and single beveling them thereby greatly increasing the durability of the design and causing some rotation while cutting.
Yeah I agree over the top expandables are a dieing design and my personal opinion it isn't a bad thing. Be cool to see this design but rear deploying. Since the rage 1.5 plus p were discontinued i believe sevr and afflictor are the top dogs in the 1.5 game used both and I am really liking the afflictor. Blades not as durable as sevr. But really not far behind.
I would love to see you run a test on an "Atom Broadhead" which I believe is no longer in production. really unique head that seems to be wrong most conventional ways. It would be a "heritage test" for fun and history. might only be found in eBay.
It’s totally a function of each person‘s budget. They are certainly a very high-end arrow that most people cannot afford. It’s kind of like asking if a Ferrari is worth it. I cannot afford a Ferrari and I love my Toyota. But other people can afford a Ferrari and love them.
Rear. I want at least one good hole. If I don’t get a pass-through on a front deploy in mechanical, then all I get is one little hole. And that does not help with blood trails.
@ I guess. I would have no hesitation using them on a whitetail. A well placed shot and they would dispatch quickly. Definitely not one of the better performing heads in his tests though.
Please test the 2024 Rage Hypodermic Titanium Trypan with the .039 surgically sharped blades. I'm really curious as to how they will hold up to your test process.
Smoked a buck with Rocket Syphons and they did what Rocket heads do and without a rubber band on this offering from Rocket. GREAT HEAD. Punched a hole like Rocket does the size of a racket ball and the deer lost every drop of blood in its body in about 60 seconds. ROCKET not being tested on this channel is a CRIME ! Heads opened on the hair on entry side and blew a massive wound channel that I have ONLY every gotten from Rocket heads . NOTHING on the market makes holes in game like Rocket Broadheads and I will argue that forever because I know first hand the devastation Rocket heads offer at BARGAN prices. I did this modern Broadhead BS for about a decade. Sevr, Bowmar and tons of other heads that were supposed to offer me better than Rocket . THEY DON"T ! Rocket heads still KILL BETTER . All the CRAP made today for INSANE prices DO NOT BEAT ROCKET.. There is no broadhead that does what Rockets do and I was STUPID for following the advice of Internet Broadhead testing over my own experience. I have NEVER lost an animal with Rockets. I have never had a deer go more than 40 yards with Rocket heads. The offset feral and twisting action upon its entry through its exit is still more lethal than anything you can shoot from a string! Until Rocket sold to Trophy Ridge I used the Steelhead 100 and 125 heads along with the 75 grain titanium head they made in the same design . I had killed 47 deer with that head( had to look back and count ) . I also killed 2 Elk with Rockets Steelheads and about a dozen pigs and one Black Bear. Never one time had a fail with the head . Somehow being talked into much more expensive heads about 10 years ago because Trophy Ridge Steelheads turned yellow and marketing exposure made be believe in the idea of the "modern broadhead" . I actually got sick of paying $39 dollars per broadhead for WORSE performance and I mean WORSE. Every deer I shot with Sevr or any of the other heads I used in place of Rocket I killed but I also had longer tracking, Worse blood and 0 performance improvements . NOTHING FLYS LIKE A ROCKET STEELHEAD! You can listen to all the other Manufactures. They all ensure Field point performance from their expandable. THEY ALL LIE ! There is 1 head that flies EXACTALLY like a 100 grain field point. Rocket Steelheads. All the rest you will have to move your bullseye slightly to accommodate the flight characteristics even if they promise field point flight(I am talking to you Bowmar! ) This past weekend I finally made the switch back to Rocket broadheads after buying the Syphon heads over 2 years ago without using them. I finally got through the Sevr collection and Bowmar complicated head from hell and after a short internet shopping adventure where these heads from both brands went up another $10 dollars per pack I said NO MORE and screwed the red old school chisel head Rocket Syphons collection dust on my work bench. The moment I let Fly I new I had made the proper choice . The sound of a Rocket head hitting meat is unlike any other noise in the industry. SMUCK louder than the bow going off and a deer with so much blood pouring out of his chest there was 0 doubt his time as a deer was done in exchange for his time as veni tacos and steaks having begun. The Blood trail was a horror show like ALWAYS with Rockets even with a different look than the old Steelhead these Syphons seemed to perform just like their older versions. The deer was dead before he hit the ground and within 60 seconds I was dragging it out of the woods. Literally seeing the deer die. I have seen deer shot with a .308 die harder. Rocket Broadheads have been the best head ever made. They STILL ARE the best heads ever made and there is NOTHING on the market that does a better job. PERIOD ! STOP BUYING HEADS FROM THIEVES ! Sevr and Bowmar are THIEVES! STOP GIVING THEM MONEY ! No Broadhead is worth that much money PERIOD . I have 0 idea what the future of Rocket is now. I hope they make a resurgence and people rediscover them as their go to head. They are still wonderful Deflection proof heads that perform better than many gun calibers for killing. Rockets are lethal as the plague and 100X more efficient in its lethality . I have shot them into steel barrels for strength testing (not syphons but every other Rocket head when I was shooting for them) and I never one time even lost a blade in those tests . Not even on the Sidewinders with massive blades did the blades ever break in a steel barrel test. The Rocket Steelhead is still my favorite broadhead of all time . I do not believe you can buy them anymore and the only Rocket I have found in modernity is the Syphon . After this past weekend I am assured that these heads work just like the offerings of the past by Rocket and will be using them for the rest of my life if possible. I won't fall for Broadhead marketing ever again . Bomar and Sevr can suck it!
I wouldnt mind trying the Rockets, looked at them many times but passed.. i am using SIK heads now and they been great. Good reviews too...concrete and deer is like apples to oranges.. these test turn many away because some fail close to getting to the concrete...personally its a bit much . I go by in the field results nothing more. Not knocking the test , its just how i see it.😊
Xcutioner broadheads bought rockets patents and make some there heads under demon hunter name they do make the steelhead again cant remember new name but only make 125gr

Congratulations. And thanks for sharing that experience. Those are top-tier broad heads for sure. I lost count at 60 animals I’ve taken with them.
Its raining here in my area. Was just about to take a nap. Perfect timing for a good lusk broadhead test video.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the encouragement.
Thanks for the testing John. B3 must’ve stepped up their game for this head. Throughout all of your testing and the blades never broke off at the anchor/pivot point which is definitely something different for their mechanical heads under torture or even in my crossbow target after a few shots.

Awesome testing John. Thanks again. Happy Halloween
Thank you!

The Sevr and the new titanium beast, and the Hyde have all proven themselves to be incredibly durable mechanicals.
A Lusk video, let’s go!
Haha. Thank you
John posts, I stop and watch! Good stuff as always.
Awesome, thank you!
I've seen some pictures on Facebook of the sevr tips curling after hitting deer bone and others saying they have had the same experience. Do you have anything you could test this with?
I’m on Facebook and social media all the time. I really haven’t seen any complaints about the Sevr
I have used sevr they are extremely durable shouldn't be concerned. I dont think there is a debate that a really good fix head is more durable then a good expandable but certain really good expandables are more durable then a fairly good fix blade and sevr is one of them.

@@LuskArcheryAdventures Thank you for the info!
So John - what size cut is a A+ ?????
I’m not sure I understand the question.
Of the over the top deployment styles (this style is fading away rapidly) this is an interesting approach, and I like a lot of what they did with it. However, the small entry hole is just part of the design and that for me is a difficult one to overlook. Thanks for that analysis, Frank.

Thanks John for the reviews. That is how I found out about the afflictors.
I would love to see you run a test on an "Atom Broadhead" which I believe is no longer in production. really unique head that seems to be wrong most conventional ways. It would be a "heritage test" for fun and history. might only be found in eBay.
Yeah, I’ve wanted to test those as well. Ha ha ha. I have not seen them in years.
Are the bishop arrows worth the price for the average man. Love all the testing you should maybe do arrows also
It’s totally a function of each person‘s budget. They are certainly a very high-end arrow that most people cannot afford. It’s kind of like asking if a Ferrari is worth it. I cannot afford a Ferrari and I love my Toyota. But other people can afford a Ferrari and love them.
Can you do a video on the oz cut kreature expandables
I began to test them, but had a faulty batch. That was a while ago. I imagine they’ve remedied that problem. I may have to do another test in 2025.
I really like the fixed blade B3s. Not as big a fan of their expandable though.
Yeah, I’ve enjoyed testing their fixed blades as well.
Where was the damage after it went through the MDF? Blades or ferrule?
I’m sorry I just don’t remember. I tested that last summer.
Man these Flapper Blades are something else.
:)
Do you prefer rear or front deploying blades for a mechanical?
Rear. I want at least one good hole. If I don’t get a pass-through on a front deploy in mechanical, then all I get is one little hole. And that does not help with blood trails.
These things are on sale for like $17.50 right now on a few websites
Now you know why.
@ I guess. I would have no hesitation using them on a whitetail. A well placed shot and they would dispatch quickly. Definitely not one of the better performing heads in his tests though.
Nice
I'll be glad when this Selection is over. No more propaganga for awhile! I had to listen to Hairless during this.
I’m sorry, but I’m not sure what that means.
Please test the 2024 Rage Hypodermic Titanium Trypan with the .039 surgically sharped blades. I'm really curious as to how they will hold up to your test process.
I may test those in 2025.
With all the awesome rear deploying heads now, i don't know why anyone's buying front deploying heads.
Yeah, I prefer rear deploying as well.

Get a room
Yea, I made it about 3 sentences before I rolled my eyes, and totally dismissed this entire novel.
