      I’m glad to hear that you found it helpful. 👍 congratulations on the new car and exhaust ! Have you checked out the many other videos I have on the channel regarding Miata exhausts? I have several in which I take it to the dyno that you may find interesting.

    Chad, once again your informative video has saved me enormous time and effort. I ordered the Cobalt exhaust for my 2020 RF GT MX-5. I received it two days later from Moss Miata using basic ground shipping. Installation was simple, and I love the deep tone. I know an axle-back exhaust doesn't add any performance, but it sure seems to breathe easier and quicker. I love it, especially the sound. Thanks again!

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  3 года назад +3

      That’s awesome! I’m glad you found the video helpful. Congrats on the new exhaust. Have you seen the video where I dyno the Greddy axle-back? While not a lot of power, it did add some. What other mods are you considering?

    • @JPVaccaro
      @JPVaccaro 3 года назад +2

      @@TheLemonFactor Yes, saw that! I was bargain hunting for a deeper than stock tone and better breathing. It's my daily driver, and I'm not looking to provoke the police. I'm out of work and looking. So, I'm sitting tight. Down the road, maybe an AIO mod to improve the "infotainment" thingy. It's slow, and the warnings/beeps/notices among other features are annoying. I haven't researched anything yet. If I can get back to work soon, and pay this car off, I'll do MX5 cup car suspension mods, and maybe play with auto cross for a little fun as I age.

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  3 года назад +3

      I’m sorry to hear that. Good luck, hopefully you’ll find something soon. In the meantime, enjoy your Miata - it certainly helps me relax and get my mind off things.

    • @JPVaccaro
      @JPVaccaro 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@robertrucker9961 absolutely, more than ever. The Fab9 tune for 93 octane also adds to the experience. The sound of the Cobalt cat back pipe is perfect for what I intended. Quiet idle with a deep tone that builds as you get into it.

    • @ag4allgood
      @ag4allgood Год назад

      Same , Hush O Matic sounds corny but really performs well. I routed a vacuum line all the way back. All Stainless Steel & its much lighter than stack but I didn't weigh it. Also the stock OEM muffler after about 18 months in 4 season daily driving the top had already started rusting. Love the sound & its not so loud when your not on the gas pedal. Neighbors will not complain & I leave at 5:00am every work day. For an active axle back exhaust the extra cost was worth it.

    I just bought a '23 ND2 club. Planning on a full exhaust (4-2-1, mid pipe and Super Q). This has been very interesting. You provided the suspected HP/tq gains for the axleback, but not the mid-pipe, nor the long header. Loved the info, got more for the ND2? tks tj

    I’ve been running the Borla muffler for the better part of 1 year and it’s great with the top down (RF), but a bit boomy between 2200-2800rpm, which is right in the cruising rpm range. I’m going to give the HKS a shot and see how things change! (Both were purchased used on Miata forum with low miles)

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  3 года назад

      I’ve heard that the HKS is more muted than other exhausts available. Let me know what you think of it. 👍

    • @158158cow
      @158158cow 3 года назад +2

      @@TheLemonFactor Swapped mufflers in a shockingly fast 40 mins (not my first rodeo). The HKS is almost as quiet as stock, but has a unique sound. I noticed both the Borla and OEM mufflers had a pronounced resonance in the 2k rpm range. The HKS has more tubing (changing the system length more significantly) and almost zero drone anywhere. That said, I think the OEM headers lead to a 2750rpm drone, no matter what muffler you use. The HKS is a very high quality product. You save no weight and minimally change volume, but the unit is built well, produces an appreciable tone, plus the tips look tremendous. You install some heat wrap on the bumper, due to the close proximity between parts.
      As for my Borla, the flange is loose (not welded into place), and I could never seat it well against the donut gasket. I think there was a small leak, contributing further to the overall volume.

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  3 года назад

      Do you think it’s adding any power?

    • @158158cow
      @158158cow 3 года назад

      @@TheLemonFactor Unlikely. I bet all mufflers for the ND are within 5hp of each other, which is undetectable by even professional drivers (usually 10% margin is needed to be noticed). Performance can be better had with lighter wheels/tires, etc. I noticed when I went to lighter Konig wheels, the new tires (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+) were several pounds heavier than the OEM Bridgestone set. I ended up with a heavier wheel package, which I definitely noticed immediately
