I did have the suspension done by pro pilot and honestly, that made the most difference in being able to carry speed and maintain it.

Yeah man, a buddy of mine has a Kawasaki 250 TECATE 3 wheeler. It's original and compact in size. It's immaculate! He also has a Honda 250r three wheeler. Both are mint condition! He doesn't ride them and he will not sell them for any price. It's crazy! This guy is in his almost mid 50's. Some people are like that. Keep your content up! Congratulations on breaking 8K subscribers! I've learned a lot from your channel.

I had a few of these. 1-84/ 3-85 /1-86. The DG pipe worked well, did some porting and used a PJ carb. I found the weak point to be the stator and the radiator. The 86 was a different frame and fit a KX 500 motor with a few mods dyonport pipe PWK carb port polish. It was nice wake up from sluggish 250’s

Took my '85 200X out for the first time after working on it on and off for the last few months. New bearings throughout the machine plus a whole lot of new parts. Biggest change was replacing my busted headlight with a new shell and headlight for a '85 250R. Honestly haven't ridden it in about 5 yrs and had forgotten how much fun it was. A buddy was with me in a Polaris Ranger. Tons of fun. Tecates and Tri Z's are very scarce and do bring big bucks. Keep riding and remember, #save the trikes

Nice! I picked up an '85. Similar story...monkeyed with. And I think most bolts on mine were loose too!! ha ha. Also, I too discovered what you did about the shifter. Too close to case and not long enough to adequately shift with riding boots. I bought aftermarket KX250 shifter, and welded in extensions. Now works like a gem.
    Appreciate your videos.

I love having my 84 kxt. I race it. The kx cylinder intake carb and appropriate pipe is supposed to be good for a 7-9 hp increase. That's a lot considering stock numbers! I have an ez pull clutch lever from ori, highly recommended. I did a cable to hydraulic conversion on the front drum and it's a close next best thing to the 85 disc. I also have an 86 carrier holding that bigger rear axle and splines up with Honda wheel hubs, it's bolted right into the 84 arm. I'm in the process of a little refinishing right now, next race just over a week away.

Those are some upgrades. I jave a front disx brake conversion to put on mine very soon. Mine has a twist grip on it, im still on the fence whether to keep ot or not. Over all its an amazing machine.

Boots... thats one area that buying quality pays off. Having a cheaper boot that doesn't have any feel or flex makes the gear shifter and brake pedal to where you cant feel anything. Also, if you're gonna wear boots when you ride, where them everytime, the more "broke in" your boots are, the better you're gonna feel riding and confident you'll be

Nice machine! Seems to pull like a freight train once it starts to wind up. The utility version was called the Prairie for a few years and later on Kawi used the name on a series of 4 wheelers that lasted until the two thousands. I'm on the mend, No more walker, walking a half mile, driving the 1500 and the 2500 GMC trucks again , spent 4 hours on the lawn tractor, all 24 staples yanked out and healed up, and eating better. Just need time for the rest of me to heal and get back to business. My best to you sir, enjoy.

@@mrcbuildsI must have been lucky to surround myself with good people and it showed when I was hurting. 2 neighbors came over and cut up the rest of my old shed and used a tractor to put it in the dumpster, the dumpster guy cut my penalty for keeping it so long, in half, and the girl next door made me a pumpkin cheesecake with fresh whipped cream, to help me heal. None of this was part of my old life, and I do appreciate all of them. Thanks for the thoughts.

I have 2 85s, one is an original red the other is a frankentrike. Bought as a pair but the green machine had no fenders, seat, carb, air filter, muffler and a toasted flywheel and stator. She is now an awesome ruder machine with 200x seat and rear fenders, 200s front fender. Looks more modern and like it was a made in the factory. Any way to upload a photo?

Off topic from the Kawasaki, I just picked up a 84 125m with shifting issues and after pulling the side cover I found the shift stopper laying in the bottom and appears to have broke off the case. Is there a fix to this or should I be hunting down a right side case?

please stop talking down your bike as a "Frankenstein" you will find with a bit of tuning people bought those wide axles(had a Durablue 6 " over on my 82 250 r, loved it stock width didn't handle well @ all!) expansion chambers(none of the race teams used stock) and other aftermarket "GO FAST" parts, not to just limp my wheeler by, but to GO FAST, or improve appearance!, personally i think your trike, & other trikes are killer!!! ENJOY & BE SAFE! . AS A SIDE NOTE ANYTHING from an off road background i would look look at frame integrity as in places trapped mud & water could cause unseen rust could cause a disaster if it is in the budget blasting, sonic checking, gusseting ,and powder coating are all nice insurance policys

Hi Jason, thanks for watching and appreciate the feed back. I walk a narrow line being on youtube, most of my viewers are not as knowledgeable on what's factory and what is aftermarket ( good and bad ). I myself get it wrong sometimes and have no issue owning that. I want people to know what is OE and what's not so they can make up there own mind as to good/bad. I have had a few machines with go fast parts pipes, axles and carbs etc. I understand wanting to go fast and looking good too. I may have been a little harsh on this machine, finding the frame was broken and most of the bolts where backing out or missing in the suspension it may have gotten to me. I have always wanted a tecate3 and now I have one, I am not mad or upset with this purchase, the term "Frankenstein" was to explain that nothing was OE or original. I will fix anything that may be wrong with it in due time. It is fast, and it looks good, just nothing OE about it except the frame and motor. My goal long term is to find an affordable Tri-z and then focus on improving the collection as a whole. I rode the Tecate3 yesterday, it rips and I am happy to have it. That twist throttle is growing on me. thanks again.
