You might be right….They also might go out of business if they are selling tone poet and rhino hi fi comparable vinyl - which they are - but only charging $30 a record for it. I hate that all these companies are charging what they are ….i also realize most people don’t listen to vinyl! That said - go support Daptone or colemine $25 brand new releases with amazing new artists! Or big crown or diamond west!
@@PiecesofVinyl I just think that they created such a niche market with their changes that they just hurt themselves & that's not even mentioning the price increase.
I am on the VMP email and both the Mr Bongo realeses intrigued me. I'll go and stream them before I make a decision, but at the same time I have FOMO issues too 🤣🤣🤣. Great VMP realeses brotha man. Much love to you. By any chance did you snag a copy of that Ralfi Pagan from Craft Records?
I have my reservations about Vinyl Me Please. They charge a lot for selections you could find yourself at much cheaper prices. And then there is the pesky habit of promoting popular titles - which makes their selection no different from the vinyl section in Target, Walmart or Best Buy.
@@pervertedalchemist9944 I stick with more funk/jazz/soul stuff from them - and I have found their indie offerings to be better then their "popular" stuff - lots of MPB and Latin stuff too. I found them because of Daptone Records - a great indie label - they have put out more from them in the last 10 years - but the popular stuff will get the headlines (and the YT views😜)
You will still be able to order directly from them and eventually pre order again too. But hopefully one day international shipping will be not be so expensive. I have like five things I would buy right now on Discogs - two won’t ship to US and the others the shipping is more expensive then the product!
Gus is excellent. More like traditional folk on a banjo than the blues. VMP does excellent box sets I'll give them that. I'm always taking swaps on half their titles and getting alternative titles I ordered a year ago and still waiting on. I recommend their "Explorations in Sound" 45 rpm Marantz audiophile 4 LP reference album. Pricey though. The first disc is fantastic, the Marantz guys picks. Second volume is VMP picks which are not as good. I guess trying to appeal to younger people on Vol 2. The sound quality is poorer and music selections are not as good. All selections are unknown artists.
It’s a lot. But again - so is rhino and bluenote and everyone else that charges $38 a record. Bluenote charges up to $52 for a double lp sometimes (plus shipping) VMP has black Moses 2 lp with booklet and poster AAA cut - gatefold - for $39 member price put it in a bundle and it ships free. it really depends on what you want.
@@PiecesofVinyl It always does, of course. I gotta think about the position of comparing vinyl brands that are ALL charging $40-$150 for one record. To that I’d still say…ewwwwwwww, lol. Love your channel.
Great picks! Thanks for the video.
They really are going to price themselves out of the market - again I doubt they will be around in 2 years.

I am getting that. And you should DEF check out Mr Bongo stuff.

What kind of stuff do you primarily collect?
@@PiecesofVinyl I tend to go more for indie or underground stuff - regardless of genre.

I was a member and loved it but because of shipping pricing they will no longer be serving anyone in the uk 😢

I’m surprised they still released that explorations in sound considering it involved their fired CEO.
Been a member for a number of years. Love what it used to be for sure, but renewal in Jan. is over $500. Ewwwwwwwwww.
