    During the Low light Conditions, do mirrorless camera EVF Lacks against the DSLR Viewfinder??

    • @AsianPhotographyMagazine
      @AsianPhotographyMagazine  3 года назад

      Hi Dibyanshu. The EVF won't lack in low-light, it might not reflect the best or truest representation of the actual scene. The challenge that EVFs have is that they create an image of what the sensor is seeing, hence there is always a slight difference between the actual scene and what you see through the EVFs. This primarily is because the refresh rate of the EVF isn’t or rather wasn’t fast enough before. But with some of the newer cameras, the EVF refresh rates have gotten better since we made this video. So things are much better than before.

      Hi Ummy.
      Honestly it would be unfair to compare a APS-C mirrorless to a DSLR body honestly. Not to mention that there is a price difference between the two as well.
      Personally we haven't tested or got a hands-on the R7, but from the look of the specs and features for sure the R7 looks more formidable. Plus I have always been an advocate of the more recent technology than the old. But not to take anything away from the 90D, which is also a great camera.

    What's your opinion on long-term effects on the eye when using the EVF at long periods? Essentially, you have a mini display blasting light into your eye. Do you get tired with EVFs?

    • @AsianPhotographyMagazine
      @AsianPhotographyMagazine  4 года назад +4

      That's actually a very interesting question and a unique take on the EVF. But honestly I don't think it will have that much of a bearing. And here are the reasons why I feel so:
      1. Essentially you don't look at the EVF for an extended period since the use of any viewfinder is only when you are clicking a picture, which means you aren't having an high exposure to the EVF.
      2. The display size of the EVF, it's resolution and the refresh rate isn't high enough to cause any serious damage to the eye as such. It's not like your TV or phone screen that is viewed constantly with an increased refresh rate or graphical content to really strain the eye.
      So my guess is that it won't really make that much of damage I suppose. Yes like any other light source it will have some fatigue if you keep staring at it continuously for a longtime. But that's about it I suppose.

    Hello, thanks for the video. Was very informative. As a beginner would someone would notice these color and saturation changes in the picture post click? I was thinking to buy fujifilm xt100 or canon m50

      @AsianPhotographyMagazine  4 года назад

      Thanks a lot. Happy that you liked the video. As for your question the answer would be No. It is difficult to tell which camera a picture is shot with let alone whether shot with an EVF or OVF. Both the XT100 and M50 are good cameras but you also have a lot of other options as well in the same budget as well like the Fuji X-A7, Sony A6000. I suggest you look at those as well.

      Hi Lucia. The Canon D200 Mark ii is a much better camera with better features as compared to the M50. So my suggestion would be to go for that.

    Interesting video, but maybe sponsored by SONY? To me the largest drawback of an EVF is that I cannot look through the viewfinder when the camera is off. As a professional photographer I spend tons of time on just looking through the viewfinder without making any photos. A camera with an EVF would quickly drain out. But I guess I am old fashioned now...

      Hi Paul. Thanks for sharing your perspective. This video isn't sponsored by any brand. :) OVF will also be better than the EVF. But with mirrorless being the future the EVFs will always be around. :)

    • @paulbreedveld4921

      Thanks for your answer. :) I am not convinced that mirrorless will be the future. I think that in the coming 10-15 years smartphones will take over almost the entire photography industry. The main remaining group of people still using a real camera will be highly professional photographers. It is the wish of these people that will determine the future of the camera, not the wish of the semi-professional or the amateur on which the mirrorless/DSLR discussions are usually focused. In that light, size does not matter, electronic viewfinder gadgetry either as most professionals prefer a clean viewfinder. What will matter is 100% reliability under harsh circumstances and at all times sufficient battery power. An EVF has very high battery consumption while an OVF gives you an image for free. This is a huge advantage if you spend half the day looking through a viewfinder.

      @@paulbreedveld4921 interesting take on things Paul. There are many aspects in your reply that are interesting as perspectives. So for me I think smartphones will dominate the market as imaging devices and I don't think at any point the imaging quality will be good enough to replace mirrorless or DSLRs. Not to mention factors like dynamic range, low light performance from such a tiny sensor seems difficult to deliver that level of quality to replace cameras. OVF as mentioned in our video is far far better than EVF. There's no doubt about that.

      @@paulbreedveld4921 infact I feel that in the next 3-4 years mirrorless will completely take over. Already primary heavyweights like Canon and Nikon aren't launching too many DSLRs and you can see that trend heading the mirrorless way.

      @@AsianPhotographyMagazine they say already for more than 5 years that mirrorless will take it over but it still did not happen. So we will see. I am actually quite curious about the upcoming Nikon D880 DSLR (I have the D850, really a fantastic camera).

    What about the refresh rates

    • @AsianPhotographyMagazine
      @AsianPhotographyMagazine  5 лет назад +1

      An OVF transmits the scene the way the lens sees it without any lag. So there's no refresh rate essentially in that case, since it displays exactly what the lens sees. Refresh rates are important when it comes to EVFs since there is lag when it comes to displaying what the lens is seeing. With each year it's getting better. But in comparison they are still not close to the OVF.

    • @AsianPhotographyMagazine
      @AsianPhotographyMagazine  4 года назад +1

      Sorry missed this question. The refresh rates differ from brand to brand. But the EVF will always have a higher refresh rate since it needs to provide the image realtime inside the viewfinder. And an optical viewfinder doesn't have a refresh rate since it is projecting the image directly from the sensor.

      Amit k118 it depends on what you want to use it for. But you can’t compare the 2 cameras since one is a Mirrorless and other a DSLR.

    • @AsianPhotographyMagazine

      Hi Subama. Technically you cant compare the two cameras since they are of different formats and one will have some advantage over the other. But if you still would need a recommendation then I would have to know what do you intend using it for? Since that will also help in recommending the camera.

      I want to learn and work with Portrait and basic Wedding photographer. And shoot some videos like shortfilm and product advertisement. And i cannot buy another one within 5 years. As i am student so i have limited budget.. But i want to buy something in which i will invest now all together 😐 and now i can afford 90d or sony a6400 with kit a lens. These two have almost same price.

    • @AsianPhotographyMagazine
      @AsianPhotographyMagazine  4 года назад +1

      @@subarnakhorshed6075 in that case your choice is simple. If it's just between these 2 cams then the 90d is better. Coz it also has the ability to use external mic, which is required while shooting videos. But if you are looking for a period of 5 years then getting a DSLR doesn't make sense. It's unlikely that the support off DSLRs will still be around so far out.

    • @AsianPhotographyMagazine

      @@subarnakhorshed6075 it's better to go for a Fujifilm XT-3 in this case. It's a good overall camera and will offer you a lot more inside the budget of 1 lac.
