Endless do stitch bound notebooks in A5 and A6 with Tomoe River paper (while it lasts). The A6 are true pocket notebooks - fairly slim due to the paper weight! They are called Storyboard if you can get hold of them.
The Life having squared pages and stitching is enough justification for me! I love the yellowed pages, too. Great to hear that they work with fountain pens!
The Life notebooks are my absolute favourite. They have some notebooks with very attractive covers too. I use the Noble Note and the Symphony notebooks; do check them out if you're looking for a larger notebook, they have the same wonderful paper.
I love Life Noble paper. The main drawback is hand oils tend to interfere with the ink, and it's slower to dry that other papers. I have one ink that isn't even dry after about 10 minutes (but that's an issue with the ink more so than the paper).
@@writerlywitteringsI believe Life Noble is that Life Vermillion in this video, it's just in a different binding. The ink in question was Noodler's Kiowa Pecan. It has terrible dry times on some papers. I ended up putting a sheet of copy paper in between the pages to act as blotting paper whenever I used it in that notebook (I don't use that ink anymore in that notebook). I also have a sheet of copy paper under my hand when I'm writing so my skin doesn't make contact with the paper.
Lovely video thank you. Please you need to try the Cosmo air light 75g notebook. They have different sizes including A6. Can get it on Etsy. As of now this paper it’s my absolute backup and or replacement for when TR paper stops production. Great great paper for FP
Oh dear! More notebooks that I’ll have to buy. The Life one looks like the winner to me. Moleskine were for me though the paper is poor for fountain pens and wet fineliners, purely because I prefer stitched over stapled - and I loathe wired notebooks! Love the Midori MD notebooks though they’re expensive and the A6 is quite thick for a pocket.
I have a tiny old moleskin for out-and-about, but I'll have a look at these next time I need one. Loved seeing your writing notes, I'm currently researching events in a local village during the 16th and 17th century for a story. I'm very much enjoying taking notes in my writer's blood (glad you changes your mind - it looks wonderful on Clairefontaine paper).
I agree with you. When I first tested Writer's Blood I think I did so on the wrong paper and in the wrong light. Now I've tried it more often, I like it more and more!
I find the Campus to be perfect paper pencil and roller/gel/ballpoint etc. but not fountain pens, so it's good to know it's not just me having fountain pen troubles with otherwise outstanding paper. I didn't know about the LIFE stuff, that's very interesting. I'll look for some.
Haha - I should thank you - I was wondering if it was just me. I used Campus a while ago, and it was fine. Like all these ruddy manufacturers, I think they must have changed their recipes!
@@writerlywitterings Yes, and no. There *is* a variant of the Campus paper that does work well with fountain pens but it's almost inscrutable as to how to be sure you're getting it. If I can figure that out, would you like me to post it on your Patreon?
I just use a daller- rowney pocket sketchbook. The pages don’t leak my fountain pen, and I can also do my sketches on there too. And they’re only £5 each. Really recommend you review one.
Unfortunately, I can add pants, shirts, the stair railing, the curtains, in my office, the living room drapes (Don't ask), and the handles on the microwave and the fridge to that list. Just ask my wife. And I almost never use washable ink.
I had to buy whatever was handy at my local art store, but as it happened the Oasis Notebooks Profolio (Japan, A5) is very inexpensive and handles ink very well.
I'd second that Rob. I have had a few different Muji pads over time. My fountain pen tests found it better than Moleskin (probably obvious) and also better than Exacompta paper for heavy flowing ink. I also like their 0.5 gel pens (though that's probably like swearing on here) and other stationery - I've had their little metal ruler for years.
Hi Micheal, quick question. What is the name of the expanding spine folder binder thing you use. In your authors tour video it had a draft of Sniper in it. All the best.
Another excellent pocket sized notebook I would add to writerlywitterings' list is the Maruman Mnemosyne. Terrific paper!
I'll have to look into that - thanks!

I don't have a Storyboard, but do have an Endless, and their quality is superb.
Pleased to hear that you’re impressed with Life.
Ah, well, life is a lot better than the alternative - and Life appears to be too!
The Life having squared pages and stitching is enough justification for me! I love the yellowed pages, too. Great to hear that they work with fountain pens!
I totally agree - and it's wonderful to write on!

Thanks, Chris, I'll do that.

Ten minutes to dry? That's a real problem! I haven't tried Life Noble paper, it's one I'll have to have a look at. Thanks for that.

Moleskines were always my favourite, but as you say, utterly useless for fountain pens! Like you, I prefer stitched or stapled - ideally stitched!

I'll have to take a look at that. What size do you use?
A lovely range of notebooks. What is ink without paper! (A mess on your hands, the carpet or as I remember your dog) Thanks as always.
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!

That's interesting. I haven't heard of them. I will have to do some investigating.
I recently discovered the Muji notebooks and thought they were really great
That's a brand I haven't been able to try out yet, sadly. I'll have to get one.

It's called the Zero Max from the Japanese company PLUS. You can see them here: www.cultpens.com/i/q/PS66908/plus-zero-max-a4-folder-wide-blue
And I have to say, I've found them very impressive and pretty much invaluable! And no, I've had to buy all mine!
@@writerlywitterings Thank you very much for the quick reply. I look forward to more videos from yourself!
