Every religion has set of ideas. These ideas form what we think and ultimately what we are. By belonging to a religion we satisfy our need to belong to a certain group. People get ostracized because they say things that are not biblical, you get ostricized becasue you are not "one of the team" and if you say bible is not completelly accurate, you are attacking beliefs and IDENTITY of people who hold that belief. You are attacking THEM. Thats why you get ostricized.
It's ok. Religions are interpreting the afterlife and the source of everything. So it's subjective. Of course, everything have pro and cons. Some religions seed fear in people minds, making them living in fear.
