    We bought a water filter that hooks to the hose. About to go use it for the first time . . .

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  3 года назад +1

      Make sure you place the water filter as close to the trailer as possible. I see a lot of them hanging on the spigot, and that gives you some "hose Taste" issues. And Don't keep using the same one year after year! They grow some nasty stuff inside them.

  • @captaincurt3180

    Great idea about keeping your RV hose screwed to itself to "keep critters out!"

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  3 года назад

      The only bad thing is you need to make sure the water is clean inside or it will grow things. So don't drag it through the dirt before hooking it together. :-) Thanks for the comment !

    I've been looking at campers for years trying to find the right one for me. After watching many of your videos I selected an Aliner and picked it up last fall. It immediately got to freezing temps and so I haven't taken it out camping yet, however I did winterize it off your video and now am anxiously waiting to de-winterize and try it out. Your videos have been very helpful. Thank you so much.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  5 лет назад

      Glad I could help, and I hope I did it right ! Its a nice trailer in cold temps too, just bring water in jugs ! And if you stay at a campground with electricity, a small 1200 watt electric heater will keep the Aliner toasty warm !! Don't stop living just because it cold outside ! Thanks for the comment.

    I wish you would have showed rinsing out the chlorine. How much do you run the water to flush the chlorine out of the system. Do you do a similar procedure as when you we're clearing out the anitfreeze.. or just run the water out of the hot side, and cold side as well as the water tank a couple of times.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Год назад

      The chlorine isn't toxic or even terribly bad tasting. So I just flush out the lines, empty the tank and fill with new fresh water. If there is any Chlorine left in the system it will evaporate as the water is used and helps to keep the system sanitary. As far as the Antifreeze, I flush that 3-5 times through all the line to get rid of that, Then add the Chlorine to more or less help remove the last amount of anti freeze. The thing to remember is to have all faucets running while flushing out the anti freeze for quite a while, 20-30 minutes. And to let the chlorinated water sit in the lines for 24 hours before flushing it out.

    I just wanted to say I put a deposit down on a Ranger 12. I have been reviewing some of your older videos and I know they will be very helpful when I finally get delivery. I also have so many questions to ask I don't know were to begin. Enjoying your videos and your new adventures.

      Feel free to ask away ! Also make sure you visit the Aliner Owners Club website. It has a ton of information and you don't need to be a member to get to most of it.

      Questions to ask about owning a Ranger 12
      1. Would a set of front stabilizing jacks for the front help in stabilizing the trailer better.
      2. My understanding from my reading that the ball hitch size is a 2” ball.
      3. Should I get an extension cord (30 amp?), How long should the shoreline electrical cord be? And the fresh water hose.
      4. What do you recommend to keep mice out of the camper especially when it is being stored outside.
      5. Traveling on an interstate (I only do this if necessary), should I maintain a speed slower then the speed limit?
      6. I plan to upgrade the battery. What amp hour would be best. I have a 100 watt portable solar panel that I plan to use. (Also I have several collapsible solar lanterns that I really like. )
      1. I have ordered levelers and chocks; water pressure gage, storage cover as mine will be sitting outside, trailer hitch lock.
      2. I will buy water filters
      Will probably have more questions later.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  5 лет назад

      1. - You absolutely need to have front and rear stabilizing Jacks. If you don't, there is a very good chance you could bend the frame at the door. They should not have sold you a trailer without them. But you can buy them very cheaply on Amazon, Just make sure you get the right size (I think the sizing chart is there)
      2. The "Standard Ball" is 2". So you should have that size on your Hitch receiver. 3. I believe the new trailers are coming with a marine plug that you run a cord from that plug to the shore line plug. My Very limited experience with RV parks is that 15 ft is usually plenty. But having 25 allows you more "setup Options" if you want to be closer to the road, or further back from the post. Also, the Aliner uses so little power unless you are running the Frig, Microwave, and A/C all at once, you can actually get away having a regular Household 20amp extension cord anywhere from 10-50ft to get to those far away electric poles. You just need to make sure you have the Adapter from 30amp to 20amp ($7) I have actually used a 100ft orange extension several times to have A/c. Buy a TRUE 10/3 extension, not 12/3 or 14/3. amzn.to/2mLtW86 or one of these amzn.to/2lEtY1D . For fresh water hose, if you plan to hook up to RV park water, its a good idea to get a splitter and at least two 25ft hoses. Water is often far from the site. And make sure you get a water filter you can attach to your hose before it enters the trailer because RV park water is always likely to be silty and rusty. It won't kill you, but it can kill you water system if a speck of dirt or rust get into your water system. Thank you for your reply. The Ranger 12 comes with stabilizing jacks in the rear. I just felt that since the 12 is the same size as a Classic (without some features) and the Classic has front stabilizing jacks that I will install the jacks in the future. Your videos on upkeep of the Aliner are excellent and I love your adventures and information on the places you go and boondocking. Thank you.

    Did that folding faucet come stock in your 2008? Mine is a 2007 and has a cheap plastic low profile bathroom faucet. I have turned the internet upside down and can't find a 2 hole 4" folding faucet. Thank you!

      I believe that is the stock faucet, though I bought the camper used and the previous owners did make sure it was wonderful. Call Aliner and ask if they have a fold down faucet for the 2008 Classic?

    Hey John.. me again. I've watched a couple of videos which said that putting bleach in the hot water tank is a no-no. Is there anything different with the A-Liner tank that makes that okay? I've seen some videos that put vinegar in the hot water tank to remove calcium deposits? Thanks again !! Also.. don't think I have a bypass valve, so not sure how I would deal with winterizing with anitifreeze?

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Год назад +1

      You have to install a by pass valve. There is no good way to winterize without a bypass. They are relatively cheap and easy to install. And putting bleach in the Hot Water heater?? Doubt that I would put bleach anywhere in the camper water system. Bleach is very corrosive. But 5% bleach in water isn't going to hurt anything in any system. I swear my local city adds more than that to our water every quarter to clean out the pipes. Vinegar?? Ah, not sure I would do that either, same reason. If you use an anode rod you should have minimal deposits. And what are the deposits going to do? Reduce your capacity by a cup? Or change the efficiency by 4%? Not really an issue. Great question though. I may have to add this into a video as I'm sure people need to know.

    • @GoldenK9Campers
      @GoldenK9Campers Год назад

      @@GoingNoWhereFast Now you've totally confused me. You put Clorox bleach in both your fresh and hot water tank? Of course you dilute by adding it to water in the tank, but still you're putting it into the tank?

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Год назад +1

      @@GoldenK9Campers Well, there is water in the tank, and yes I dilute 3 tbs to 8 gals water. And that's the cold tank, not the hot water tanks. That is bypassed, though it wouldn't matter.

    • @GoldenK9Campers
      @GoldenK9Campers Год назад

      @@GoingNoWhereFast You do open the bypass in the video after you add the bleach to get chlorinated water in the hot water tank. I live in Las Vegas and we keep the a-liner in the garage so i'll likely never have to winterize, but trying to do my best to fully understand the procedure. Going to create my own little video.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Год назад +1

      @@GoldenK9Campers Ya, I might open the bypass to sanitize the hot water tank as I actually like to drink hot warm. My tank has been by passed the last 4 years, so this is an old video. I have an a liner as well it has the same water fillers as yours but I am not sure what the hose connection is for. The one you connected the white hose to. Is it just another way to fill the tank. Cheers Sean

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Год назад

      The one you screw the hose to is to hook up to city water and not use your water tank. The one you can put the hose INTO is to fill your tank so you have water when on the road or when away from city water.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast

      RV Anti freeze is basically non-toxic, though it is a very good laxative... so ya, you don't want your dog in it or you may find presents in the night !! It is essentially the same stuff that is in Metamucil (kind of)

    It would probably be a bad idea to allow the rv antifreeze to drain onto the ground if you depend on a well for your home water.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  6 лет назад +1

      It is "non-Toxic" anti-freeze, and I'm not sure if sending into your septic tank would be any better. I will admit, I do let it go to the ground and have the rain wash it away. I'm not sure what else a homeowner can do. It didn't kill the grass or my the boys sick from tasting it, so I don't think its that bad. I'll have to ask my Environmental Person at the Office !
