Hi John & Lorna. Now I know your story. A big congrats on your chosen destination & leap of faith. I love the fact that you had never been to Thailand. That's guts. I feel I know you both?
Welcome to Thailand, your video brought back alot of memories, I did exactly the same 5 years ago, no regrets at all, slightly different circumstances as I already had a house in Chiang Rai with my Thai girlfriend......................if you haven't already make sure you introduce yourselves to Richie at Richco Harley 👌
Thanks for taking the time to comment @gavincolpitts. Nice to hear from you and that our journey has similarities. We have met Richie, a really nice guy.
Hi John & Lorna, thanks for your first video. We are from the NSW South Coast. Just back in Oz after 3 months in Hua Hin, which will become our retirement place in early 2025. We are both 60 and hope the next 10 years will be our absolute best, full of adventure and new experiences. I look forward to following your adventures.
Hi john and lorna I arrived here in Hau hin yesterday Here for a couple of weeks to suss it out Hoping to come back towards the end of the yr for 3 months Im hoping to retire here next yr fulltime from the sunshine coast
I'm in the process of doing the same , have sold everything in the shed , list the house by June '24 and hopefully sold by XMAS !! moving to Bang Saray ... nice and quiet
Loved the video guys, your energy and positivity is infectious! Looking forward to watching your adventures through Thailand, a beautiful country full of wonderful people.
Great first episode, you are an inspiration to the over 60 somethings. I think living overseas with a partner will be far more exciting than doing it solo. I wish you safe travels and many many exciting adventures
Love the video John and Lorna. A couple of questions if you don’t mind. Had you gone to Chiang Mai many times previously? And how did your family feel about your big move. My hubby and I are looking into a move but not sure how I feel about leaving our 5 (grown) kids. Definitely something we want to di
@Mummalez Thanks for your questions and taking the time out to comment. We haven't been to Chiang Mai before moving here. We did a lot of research though and trusted our intuition. As to our family.. they probably thought we were slightly off center but we knew what we wanted.
@planb7075 Hi thanks for the comment ☺️ Yes it's our first attempt at Vlogging. Our dog unfortunately is no longer with us as he was suffering shoulder neurological damage to his front legs. Being of the Amstaff X he had a propensity to jumping and climbing. Over the years it took a toll on him. We probably kept him a bit to long and it would have been to much on him to relocate. We sadly miss him and his company each day. 🐕🦴
Transporting your lifestyle to Thailand is kind of a "slap in the face" to the wonderful Thai culture. Perhaps adopting the Thai lifestyle would be a better alternative.
Thanks for taking the time out to post a message to us here on Thailand on a Harley Davidson.. The reason for moving to Thailand for us was the fact that Thailand fully embraces the 21st century and has a deep and wonderful culture. As far as transporting our lifestyle here goes, Thailand has already moved beyond many so-called western countries in it's shopping mall experiences, motor vehicle manufacturing (including a Harley Davidson manufacturing plant which gives many the opportunity for ongoing work), high speed internet availability and the list goes on. What attracted us was the Harley Davidson motorcycle culture here. We have met so many great Thai friends already through this group and look forward to travelling this wonderful country meeting many more of our fellow Harley enthusiasts who the majority are all Thailand nationals. Time to realize that the sleeping tiger of South East Asia (Thailand) has awakened and is going to be a regional leader in the world economy in the coming decades ahead. I don't think you have to worry that this country fears losing its culture. It is actively encouraging and welcoming western retirees. With the majority of baby boomers yet to retire I can only see that being a smart move by a forward thinking country.

Thanks for your comment. You're right....there's nothing like sharing adventures together as a couple. J&L
You can import as a one off a motorcycle into Thailand. There are cost but if you have a bike you love you can keep it.
Yes I know but the import costs are really high
Congratulations. What a milestone, how exciting. We will be making the jump to Thailand as well. Will be following your transition. Best wishes.
Thanks for your nice comment. It's such a worthwhile jump. Life here takes some adjusting to but all in all making a move is worth it.

I'm excited for both of you. Can't wait to see what's next. I have family who own a resort on the Mekong in Sangkhom. Beautiful there.

Yes we are very happy here in Chiang Mai. Life is very relaxed and easy to navigate.
