      To give a beaten , You must take a beating. My 1st Black Belt training I had to stand there in a horse stance. Get kicked in the groin maybe 20 times or more per session, Among other thing 2by 4 broken over my back forearms etc. All it did was make me tough mentally ASWELL Physically. When I fought for my Black Belt test...I fought 25 Kumite Black Belts. Won some lost. But was prepared. ..Was Proud of my self No matter what..

      I am a 3rd degree black belt in Kyokushin and I was touched by your comment. At every promotion exam, I am also moved to tears. To see people go deep within themselves to reach a goal is, for me, deeply moving in and of itself, but also moving because I've been there. When every cell in your body is crying "stop, stop...enough", but your Fighting Spirit cries, "Never give up!"

      I just want to share my experience. I've done amateur boxing and tried exploring Kyokushin. I am now orange belt. Both discipline are hard. You can get concussion in boxing while in Kyokushin, you are prone to injury. We do spar without gear, not a hard sparring but sometimes it can get a bit rough and injury will occur. I'm may stay as orange belt and just train. Osu!

    Congrats on the new black belts. They truly deserved it!
    Karate in America is so tame compared to this kind of testing. This is the kind of testing we need. I see way too many "black belts" who are just awful. When I become an instructor, my students will be just like this.
    My students will experience failure at testing if they don't give it their all. In my gung fu class, my Sifu is like that. There were a handful of students going for brown sash which is one away from black sash. He was saying that they weren't giving it 100%. He slammed the clipboard and gave them a peptalk and told them to leave. They will have to wait another year to test again.

    • @cheenouthao7112
      @cheenouthao7112 Год назад +1

      I definitely agree with you. Here in America, they hand out black belts too easily. I just started kyokushin about a month ago and am a white belt only, but in my class, there is a 16 year old black belt and a 23 year old brown belt with his third stripe and I am already better than both of them already. I wanted to quit this dojo, but this is the only kyokushin in the area

    • @Leonhart306
      @Leonhart306 Год назад +1

      @@cheenouthao7112 it’s really messed up, right?! You go to learn self-defense, discipline, and honor. It’s not a babysitting center or just a cardio workout. It’s a dojo/dojang. You get hurt, bruise, and bleed doing martial arts. If you can’t handle that, then martial arts is not for you.

    I'm a little stunned by the age of some of the Japanese brown belts (my assumption, since I'm not seeing any Westerners here). Throughout my relatively short time in Kyokushin and Shotokan I just assumed that most of the Japanese made Shodan in their teens and were usually Sandan by the time they were able to teach overseas - anyone over 30 was usually well on their way to international recognition. Given the hours that many Japanese work, kudos to anyone beyond college age who can dedicate their time to something this tough, especially if they're expected to be back at work first thing Monday. I had to catch a train to Narita for an early flight and was surprised to find salarymen already hurrying to work - for those guys, that would probably read 'hobbling' .......

    Toughest martial art school ,to pass an exam and move on to the next belt/level !!!! Years and years ago after army ,when I was on an the toughest physical condition , we worked together- guys from two styles. The warm up were :100 jumps w knee to the chest, 100 sit ups with legs and chest going up the same time and 100 fist push ups ,no break between.After practice were finishing with 1-10-1 , same things from the warm up ,but you do 1 of each,next 2 of each and so up to 10(10 jumps, 10 sit ups and 10 push ups) next 9 and so to 1///.It takes over 15 minutes just that part....and finished getting tsuki to my abs for 1 min straight from the 82 kg national champion in kyokushin..right after(always worked full contact and trained to toughen up the shin, etc..)..Was still standing and breathing ok. Unfortunately after injuries I contemplate..that time. All respect for the spirit of kyokushin !!!

      My story is similar to yours. I did Shotokan for years got my BB at 22 and then life happened. Now I have the privilege of training in Japan and at 33 started Kyokushin which has now been almost 2 years. It's similar but it's different. Zenkutsu-dachi, punching, blocks, etc are more or less the same. Kokustu-Dachi and Shuto-uke are different though along with small variations. But it's honestly close enough to where you should feel comfortable.

    I have 2 questions to make. First; Is it good to only do this kind of sparring with contact to the body and only kicks to the head allowed? Idk if it doesn't create the bad habit of not protecting the chin. And second; Does this style teach you defensive technique? Such as blocking, dodging or just controlling the distance, i ask beacuse as i saw, yes, it teaches you to resist blows, but not to defend them, basically being a sort of tank. If anyone could answer me i would like it, beacuse i don't know if i could like this style.

    • @maomaoguai6481
      @maomaoguai6481 3 года назад +4

      yes kyokushin does teaches u blocking and dodging techniques , based on this a sparring session for obtaining the black belt , knockout blows are rarely used , wat u saw in this video are more of a spirit challenge for the participants to complete , obtaining the black belt with pride , unlike some other martial arts , u get ur black belt juz by simple stuff , simple kumite u get ur black belt

    • @maomaoguai6481
      @maomaoguai6481 3 года назад +3

      Another thing , the 10 man kumite , if u get knockout or give up at fight no.9 , its still a fail , the belt is the proof of completion
