    Nice work, Boomer! We are so happy for you. It sounds like the JPT is a stress test that could make it easier for you on the JLPT (hopefully). I've given four (for two different languages) in my life up to now and I don't look forward to the next few ones. These reasons are kind of why I never really cared about the jlpt in the first place. Imo there are much better ways to actually study for living in japan and interacting than drilling and doing cram school style methods, by the end of which it’s hoped that you’ll even remember a fraction of what you just experienced (note I said experienced. Not studied but experienced given that it’s so unnatural). Maybe I just despise tests and exams. Idk.

    Hi Boomer! Congratulations on passing the N2 level for JPT. I was wondering if you had to compare your testing experience between the JLPT and the JPT, which test provided a better experience. Personally, I do not like having the difficult sections appear at the beginning of a standardized test because I think it becomes overwhelming and I may lose the confidence I need for the remaining of the test. Also, do you recommend taking the JPT if you are planning to wait until July 2021 to take the JLPT?

    • @boomlore73
      @boomlore73  4 года назад +5

      The JPT questions go from easy to hard in each section, so at the end of each section there are going to be questions you won't know. I'd say the JPT was a much more stressful experience for as the pace was a lot faster. There is almost no time to think and time management is really important for the reading section.

    • @sephiralewis9839
      @sephiralewis9839 4 года назад +3

      @@boomlore73 Thanks for the message. Since the JPT begins with the Speaking section followed by the Reading. Those sections were the most difficult for me on the JLPT. Last year, I passed the JLPT N3, however I struggled with the Reading section.

    • @boomlore73

      Most of the jobs I've seen with low level speaking Japanese speaking requirements either require an in demand skill (programming, graphic design, etc) or a lot of experience in your field. While I've kinda aimed at taking N2 December 2021, I'm actually on the fence over whether or not to give N3 another shot, so I can feel more comfortable with my grasp of the info. I think I will continue to study material from both tests and see how much of it I'm comfortable with come test time. My big weak point is kanji and (to a lesser extent) vocabulary. That's completely wrong. Living in Japan by itself does not help much at all with studying Japanese. If you live in a city, its easy to live without ever really needing to use Japanese. Tons of foreigners who come to Japan with no Japanese live in Japan for 3+ years and never get to N3 level. However, this guy was able to go to a full time language school and had a lot of free time to study and also has a girlfriend that can teach him.

      I disagree. It depends on whether you bother to make the effort or not.
      I'm studying at a Japanese language school in Tokyo, after 1 year I had classmates who were still clueless whereas while I was still living in my home country, I studied Japanese by myself for about 8 months and I knew a LOT by the time I entered school.

    What makes you think a resume without a Japanese proficiency qualification will be immediately thrown in the trash? I have noticed a lot of this type of garbage being said on the internet, in very definitive ways as though the speaker is some qualified person to speak on behalf of employers.
    I passively listened to clowns like this guy for a couple years until I decided to actually apply to a job in Japan without a Japanese language qualification. I got the job.

    • @boomlore73
      @boomlore73  4 года назад +6

      Yes, you don't NEED a certification per se but in many cases, especially in Japan where they follow the "manual", if someone already had the qualifications they want they will go for that applicant before you. There are exceptions to the rule, which it sounds like is your underlying point, but in most cases a more valuable lesson is " don't give them a reason to say no".
      If you succeeded being an exception or creative, congrats. But for many people, expecting to be an exception is the "clown" behavior that won't afford them a job.
