I would not have put Super Metroid and Metroid Prime at the top. They were both great, but also both were improved on with future installations. I would say Zero Mission and Dread are better than Super Metroid, and I would rate the Metroid Prime series in order of release, Metroid Prime 3 is my favourite and Metroid Prime is my least favourite.
Prime 2 is my favorite game of all time lmao, so it obviously stands at the top of the franchise. I love it's oppressive and dark atmosphere, the level design is way better than Prime because it doesn't ask you to go through Magmoor Caverns for the 10th time, and when it does ask you to leave an area it usually has shortcuts, (When you go back to Torvus for Power Bombs, an elevator which is accessed by Power Bombs leads you right back to the Sanctuary). The combat is far more refined than Prime because it actually makes you strategize rather than just using the strongest beam available or simple color matching. The bosses are more engaging and challenging and it just feels awesome to kick their asses on replaying the game, and I just didn't find that satisfaction with Prime after a couple playthroughs. I guess the atmosphere comes down to preference, for me it has the best atmosphere of a Metroid game rivaled only by Fusion. The lore and story behind Aether and the Luminoth is my favorite in the franchise. I still love all the 3 Primes a lot and tbh Prime and Corruption are almost tied since I can't decide which one I like better. But I just simply enjoy Echoes the most out of them. As for my overall ranking it will be somewhat like this: Echoes > Dread > Super/Fusion > Prime/Corruption > Zero Mission > Samus Returns > Hunters > Metroid 2 (heavily underrated game) > Other M > Pinball > Federation Force > Metroid 1
Here's my opinion: 1. Metroid Prime 2. Super Metroid 3. Metroid Dread 4. Metroid Prime 2 Echoes 5. Metroid Samus Returns 6. Metroid Zero Mission 7. Metroid Prime 3 Corruption 8. Metroid Fusion 9. Metroid II Return of Samus 10. Metroid Other M 11. Metroid 12. Metroid Prime Hunters 13. Metroid Prime Pinball 14. Metroid Prime Federation Force I have played through all of them multiple times and i actually like them all. Excellent video by the way :)
@@noahpatzer6594 he kinda does, as Zero Mission which actually is just the original but with some quality of life changes is higher on the list. The original may have been great for its time but today with Zero Mission the experience is just much better overall.
i’m very interested that you ranked corruption so high. it was the first prime game i ever played, but after getting into the rest of the series as a whole, i started to see it as kind of mediocre. however, i realized that replay value is central to metroid, and after playing through corruption many more times, it really started to grow on me, to the point where i really enjoy it now.
People seem pretty divided on it, because it was the most different of the trilogy. I don’t mind anyone disagreeing, I just personally really liked all the risks they took. I loved getting to know the other Bounty Hunters, and then the dark twist of having to take them out one by one. I liked learning more about the galactic federation, and didn’t mind a little more dialogue with them. Some say it “ruined the feeling of isolation” but I certainly didn’t get that feeling when I was at the Metroid lab, the Space Pirate home world, or planet phaze. I felt pretty alone, and it was awesome. Lol. Skytown was just gorgeous too. Probably my favorite location in any Metroid Prime game, and the “nuke” plot was so much fun. I could go on forever about that one. Haha
Among the ones I've played, my ranking is as follows : 1 - Metroid Prime 2 Echoes 2 - Metroid Dread 3 - Metroid Prime 4 - Metroid Samus Returns 5 - Super Metroid 6 - Metroid Zero Mission 7 - Metroid Prime 3 Corruption 8 - Metroid Fusion Weirdly enough, i don't dig Metroid for the main reasons people usually bring up. Its tough combat and oppressing atmosphere is what appeals to me the most. Hence Echoes and Dread being so high on the list. I just never get bored of Echoes' dark tone and vibe. I felt even more immersed in it than i did for Prime where the wide variety of color palettes and environnements was more videogame-ish, so to speak. I think Echoes does a better job in that regard + the terrific aspect of its dark world is just amazing to me. One point i'll always praise Super for is its timeless flow. Like, i'm not a retro person (i'm 21 y.o.), but i was genuinely impressed by the game and how well it aged when i played it for the first time. A Link to the Past felt so rigid in comparison but Super is just so smooth.
If I had to rank games.... 1. Metroid Prime 2 2. Metroid Prime 3. Metroid Dread 4. Super Metroid 5. Metroid Fusion 6. Metroid Samus Returns 7. Metroid Zero Mission Note that this list only consists of games I've played. I have yet to touch Metroid Prime 3. Other M doesn't exist.
i remember when i first played other m, i legitimately could not believe how bad it was. i was well aware of its reputation but it still surprised me. at the time of its release i know it must have felt to metroid fans like the series had been killed, so it’s all the more epic to live in this timeline where dread has totally revitalized the franchise. thanks for the vid!
My Top 1. Super and Prime: I can’t decide for one of them. Masterpieces 2. Echoes: Is really underestimated. 3. Dread: Great bosses, exploration and story 4. Zero Mission: Best remake ever! 5. Corruption: really beautiful and perfect controls and gameplay 6. Samus Returns: Love the new elements and the boss Fights 7. Fussion: Love the story, but I hate is to linear. I don’t think bossfights are that hard 8. Hunters: I like the world they made but, the bosses are the worst 9. Metroid NES: Not for new comers unless you like to be ass kicked 10. Samus Returns: incredible for It’s time but now really wird to play 11. Federation Force: It’s a pain in the ass playing it solo. 12. Prime Pinball: Is better than Other M. 13. Other M: I like the boss fights, but Zero exploration, and dumb scripts.
Prime 2 is underrated! I am a bit biased considering it is (legit) my first ever memory and the first game I ever beat but after playing the other two I did grow to appreciate them just as much as the 2nd but I just didn’t feel as immersed with 1 or 3. The atmosphere in 3 just seems bland and lacking. Especially in bryyo. It just felt gray and monotone. Same thing with the pirate homeworld. However, I will do no complaints on prime 1. It is good in most if not all aspects. The only thing I didn’t really get intrigued by was the enemies and boss design. Thardus was just… rocks… with phazon… and flaaghra was such a pushover. I also hated the pirates. They were neither menacing or fun to fight. Just annoying enemies that ran up on you and hit you. Like I said the design isn’t bad I just didn’t have a taste for it. But prime 2 just felt so immersive with its atmosphere. It made me feel more alone than any of the primes or other Metroid games out there. And the design of the ing and dark samus were a perfect way to set up the story for prime 3. I just feel like prime 2 was THE sequel it needed to be and probably did the best example of how a sequel should be made.
Echoes is the best of the Primes. It really felt like an alien planet, had some very uncomfortable areas and I deeply hated the Ing for what despicable creatures they were. I was ready to kill.
Heres my list, as a person who's first and second games as a kid were fusion and Zero Mission, and who never got into the prime games till recently: 0. AM2R (0 Because its so good and deserves to be at the top but also its a fangame so doesnt count if you dont want to be crucified by nintendo) 1. Metroid Zero Mission 2. Metroid Dread 3. Metroid Prime 4. Metroid Fusion 5. Super Metroid 6. Metroid Prime 2 7. Metroid Prime Hunters 8. Metroid: Samus Returns 9. Metroid 2: Return of Samus 10. Metroid Prime 3 11. Metroid 12. Metroid: Other M ... 69: Federation Force
It is a well made video, i like it. Here is my list: 1. Metroid Prime 2 Echoes 2. Metroid Dread 3. Metroid Prime 1 4. Metroid Prime 3 5. Metroid Fusion 6. Metroid Zero Mission 7. Metroid Samus Returns 8. Metroid Other M. 9. Metroid Prime Hunters 10. Super Metroid. I never finished it. 11. Metroid Prime Federation Force. I stopped playing it after 1 hour. It feels so boring everything you do, movement fighting. Never Played: Pinball, Metroid 1, Metroid 2
oh ! what made you prefer Dread over Super ? i absolutely loved both, Super is like my childhood game and Dread is my current favorite game, but the fact that Super Metroid scared me 10 times more than Metroid Dread makes it better imo
So far I've only played Super, the GBA games, Prime and Dread but I've enjoyed all of them a lot. Gotta say Super takes the cake for me, but Prime and Dread were also both amazing. Can't wait to delve even deeper and play through Prime 2 and 3, and I'm pretty curious about AM2R as well
Solid list. Prime is #1 for me too. I’m not crazy about Fusion either. I’d actually have it rate lower than you did! Prime is the perfect Metroid, immaculately building in 3D on all the things that made Super Metroid the absolute masterpiece that it still is. Prime is indeed the prime Metroid experience.
Prime was super amazing Magmoor Caverns was my all time favorite music I definitely agree with Prime being my all time favorite game in the Metroid series
Big thumbs up for the Corruption appreciation. So many people deduct points for it being easier thanks to hypermode, but no metroid game came close to the memorable side characters, beauty of the planets and it has some of the best soundtracks to it (Elysia and Rundas battle 🤤😩). Nintendo made an absolute gamer move by remaking all prime games for the motion control design!
Dread is my favorite game of all time. The smooth, smooth gameplay is just phenomenal and makes it hard for me to go back to Super Metroid. And I fucking love Super Metroid. It is a masterpiece and the best game of the 4th console generation. But Dread is just so so good. And I have had a lot of fun mastering it, being able to beat it in under 4 hours on both Normal and Hard.
My list: 1. Metroid (I was 5 years old when this game came out and it was the 1st Nintendo game I ever played. The game completely blew my young mind) 2. Metroid Prime 3. Metroid Prime 2 4. Metroid Prime 3 5. Metroid II The Return of Samus 6. Metroid Zero Mission 7. Metroid Samus Returns 8. Super Metroid 9. Metroid Prime Pinball 10. Metroid Dread 11. Metroid Fusion 12. Metroid Prime Hunters 13. Metroid Prime Federation Force 14. Metroid Other M I'm really digging your content man! How you're not over 100,000 subcribers is travesty. Keep up the great work my friend.
Thanks! I really appreciate your kind comment :) This channel is still relatively new, and is just starting to gain traction, so I’m pretty confident that subs will start coming in! I love the Metroid #1 ranking. Honestly, I tried to be a little objective with it on this list, but if I was picking purely off nostalgia and how much I loved it growing up, NES would be top 3 for me too. Best NES game imo. Shout out to Battletoads, Zelda and Ninja Gaiden too
When I was a child I play Metroid 1 and I never can end the game it was so frustrating that I don’t want to try other Metroid games so so many years later I play Metroid fusion (on m351 retroroid console) and fell in love with Metroid games I only play 2d games I don’t have old console of Nintendo and I like a lot Metroid dread my list will be 1 Metroid fusion 2 Metroid of nes 3 Metroid dread 4 super Metroid I have tu play the 3D versions thanks for making this video
I haven't played the spin offs, nor Prime 2 and 3 :'( But here's my ranking: 1-Metroid Dread: Love to replay, I love the art style, has the better mobility and gameplay in the series (imo), and it's challenging. 2-Super Metroid: Of course, the classic, the one stepping stone, incredible soundtrack, atmosphere, the best exploration in the series, and another game that is super fun to replay over and over again. 3-Metroid Prime: Great adaptation of the metroidvania formula in 3D. Great bosses, great music, and the world is so immersive. Even more so than Super Metroid imo. 4-Metroid Zero Mission: AMAZING remake, I love the last minute twist of playing as Zero Suit Samus, I really like the exploration and art style, and despite the bosses being too easy I had a great time. This is another game I like to replay a lot. 5-Metroid Fusion: I actually love the linearity of this game, and only behind Dread, this one has imo the most interesting and engaging story and plot. I actually like the Fusion bosses better than Zero Mission too, because they're more challenging. The only reason I don't put this above others is the fact that it is not as replayable as the others. The constant check ins with Adam make it tedious. Not that I don't like to replay it at all, just that if I replay Dread twice a week, then I replay Fusion once every 6 months. 6-Metroid Samus Returns: Good remake, and fine enough for one, maybe two playthroughs. I don't find it replayable honestly. I like the new ideas introduced by Mercury steamed that were expanded and polished in Dread. I have to thank this game for that, but by the same token. This game had to walk so Dread could run. And oh boy that walking speed is what makes not replay this game nearly as much as the others. It's an ok experience with some really cool highlights and some frustrating decisions. The diggernaut sections and boss fights, the counter boss sequences, and the entire ending sequence from getting to the last zone to the credits are the highlights I'm talking about. But, having to stop all momentum to wait for enemy attacks, the repetitive metroid fights, and the reuse of soundtrack are the frustrating aspects that prevent me to enjoy this game as much as the top 5. 7-Metroid Return of Samus: Honestly, we begin with the games that without labeling them as "bad", I simply do not like. This has kind of the same mistakes as Samus Returns but worse. Soundtrack, the first area's soundtrack is ICONIC; however the rest of the soundtrack is just random noises and a big meh. The gameplay is very dated, the repetitive nature of the Metroid fights is even worse here. Overall, a game that I'm glad I played once for knowledge sake, but that I do not intent to come back to. 8-Metroid Other M: Yeah, this is very self-explanatory. The story doesn't make sense, it causes problematic questions retroactively within the chronologic story, Samus as a character is unpleasant (not in attitude, but it is unpleasant to watch how little agency she has and how monotone she sounds). I cannot believe that I feel more care and respect for the Adam AI in Fusion and Dread that the alive human Adam in this game, because he's actually an a****le. The gameplay would actually feel cool if it wasn't for the game forcing you to use the Wii mote horizontally. The music is... unremarkable, I only like the title screen music (with the piano). People critic Dread for not having as much iconic tracks as Super metroid, but at least it had some good tunes and imo actually some tracks that do stay in my head. Other M has the title screen and then is all blank, because the rest is so bland or devoid of music as well. So, there's no exploration due to the linearity like Fusion, BUT there's no enjoyment in the story and linear progression because playing with the Wii Remote sucks and the story sucks too. So it doesn't accomplish anything good either way. 9-Metroid: I put the original Metroid for NES here, because being realistic... this game didn't aged well. I appreciate the contribution it made for the series and the genre; however, I do not like playing this game. It's confusing, frustrating, and boring too. I do not "hate" this game though. I understand its a product of its time. Nevertheless, I would 100% play Other M or Return of Samus than this game. It's simply not fun to me and on top of that frustrating. Other M frustrates me on the story, but on gameplay its just bad gameplay but its digestible.
I’d recommend Zero mission, it is a remake of the first game, it’s also the first game chronologically making it a good starting point story wise. The game is a lot easier than super Metroid and dread. But it’s still a really good fun game and has most the major bosses from the series. Overall I reckon it’s probably the best game to jump in
@@spinkydinkydoo I agree. It's easy compared to other Metroid titles and is a great starting point in terms of story. You can also start with Super Metroid as it gives a quick synopsis of the story and gets right into the action.
I really enjoy the Prime games, but I just like the 2D ones better. IMO Dread tops the list, because it had the open exploration of super, with the fear of being chased by an enemy you can't destroy, like in Fusion. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Federation Force. I just feel it's farthest from what a Metroid game is (aside from pinball, but I really like pinball). Maybe it would be more fun if I had other people to play it with. Hunters was just too repetitive, fighting the same 2 bosses 4 times a piece. I did like the other hunters though. I get all of the hate for Other M, but I still had a lot of fun playing it, minus the "find the pixel" segments. All in all though, my top five is: 1. Dread 2. Super 3. Prime 4. Samus Returns 5. Fusion.
I will never understand placing Prime so high. Metroid is one of those games that did not make the leap from 2D to 3D well at all for me. I've never made it far in Prime due to multiple upon multiple attempts to play it.
I’d place Metroid prime as first with super Metroid second. Third place is for echoes and then the ladder goes: am2r, zero mission, fusion, corruption, Dread, Samus returns and lastly Metroid. Edit: I totally forgot about other M, but that game doesn’t exist so it doesn’t really matter.
You know, my older brother didn't like and had no interest in the Metroid franchise for many years, one day I invited him to give a chance to the games and to prove him that is a great franchise, he played all of 2D main series (not Dread.. yet) and of all of them he said Super Metroid was the best Metroid game he experience.
Prime 3 Corruption would be my last rank. But I hated the motion control of the Wii all together, and I disliked the permanent hyper mode. But I agree with Prime 1 as the best of the series.
Hot takes 1. Super Metroid is the best metroid game at all (still really like it though) 2. Metroid prime is not as good as the next two prime games (still love it though)
Corruption is not a big favorite of mine, the visuals where great and I overall had fun with it, but I just didn't like the motion controls ( thats my problem tbf ). Also the more story driven aspect is kind of a reason why Other M had such a big emphasis on the story which is actually the worst part of Other M, I think it plays decent enough but it just was nothing special we would expect from a Metroid game. Overall... My new favorite 2D is actually Dread, they did such a good job with the intentional sequence breaks, the atmosphere and the overall gameplay feels so satisfying. For me Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are similiar amazing games on its own. I love the Phazon Suit and I like the Dark/Light World mechanic from the second one.
I seriously don't get why Samus Returns gets so much hate, I enjoyed it just much as any other game I played on the 3DS, it may not be as good as AM2R though I've personally never played AM2R because I'm not interested in fanmade games, but I fail to see how Samus Returns is in any shape or form bad game or unworthy of being called a Metroid game. I played it myself, and fought it was decent Metroid and a great game in its own right.
My list: SM Prime 1 Dread ZM Prime 2 Fusion Prime 3 SR Nestroid Other M M2 Hunters I haven't played Federation Force or Pinball so they aren't on my list.
The series is just great, period. So I guess it does depend on personality and context. I never liked the Prime series much (so obviously none of the other first person ones either lol) because they didn't _quite_ translate the undefinable metroidness for me. And it wasn't like Zelda where I found the new 3D works just as compelling. The first one I played was Fusion, which you were right about - being my first one it ranks high, maybe even #2. But I watched my brother play Super Metroid when I was 5 years old, and it was a completely indelible experience for me. It can't not be #1. ✌
that's a cool list, there are several choices i would change tho Other M is too low goddamnit xD i'm pretty sure you can't have more fun playing Prime Pinball, then again that one didn't harm the whole series compared to Other M... but it was a cool hybrid experience with lots of different mechanics and twists, and brought back memories with the opening sequence being right after the Super Metroid events as for the Prime series in general, i didn't really like them i've never been that much of a FPS lover, and i have particular tastes in music, and music in Metroid Prime was not that great imo i mean there's too much epicness and choirs, i really prefered the dark mysterious item collect fanfare from Super Metroid (my top 1 btw lol) but hey, it's just a ranking of Metroid games ! one of the best game series of all time ! the worst of those games is still amazing
"your ready to kill this evil b\=ch" me with the dolphin prime hack emulator with all cheats on with some added ones too: HELL YEAH I AM MY ARM CANNON IS LIKE THANOS'S INFINITY GAUNTLET ONE SHOT KILL YOUR GONE
Honestly I didn't like Super Metroid as Much. I've only played it once and it was good, but idk I am not in the mood to play it again anytime soon. Maybe it gets better on repeat playthroughs but idk.
Much of the fun in Super is in sequence breaking the heck out of it. It's the only game to date where you can fight 4 major boss battles in reverse order. Zero Mission is also very breakable. If only it wasn't so short.
So, I guess Metroid Prime takes number two then? Because the Remaster is just Prime, but better in literally every way, except for the Early Double Jump skip?
personally, i don't really like super metroid because samus is very floaty and can't grab ledges wich really annoyed me, i also struggle mooving while shooting in metroid prime mostly because you can't aim while going left or right, i know that you can lock ennemies however i really liked how metroid prime hunter work even if there was no cool power ups and stuff.
Nah this is the only true Metroid top: 14. Metroid Prime Federation Force 13. Metroid Pinball 12. Metroid (1986) 11. Return Of Samus 10. Metroid Prime Hunters 9. Metroid Other M 8. Samus Returns 7. Metroid Zero Mission 6. Metroid Prime 3 5. Metroid Fusion 4. Metroid Prime 2 3. Metroid Dread 2. Metroid Prime 1. Super Metroid
I tried super Metroid got deep in the ground and got stuck it’s my first time playing it and I just didn’t like it probably won’t try it again what I liked from snes is link to the past easily the best game on the system btw I played it on the switch it’s my second Nintendo system I had the dsi but it broke and then bought the switch because I liked handheld gaming I had a psp which I played a lot so that’s why probably gonna get Metroid prime I don’t think it’s that good from the trailers but since you praised it I might get it
My main point of contention in this video is you saying prime 2 is the worst in the trilogy. Id say it’s the best. and prime 3 is far from a masterpiece, I actually disagree with most of your points about it, in fact, it’s actually my least favorite in the trilogy.
I can't hate on that. Giving it the title of "worst" at anything just doesn't sound right. It didn't leave an impression on me as strong as the others, but with that being said, it's still one of my favorite video games of all time
Ok Other M might have had an awful story made worse by an awful translation, but if you just look at it from a gameplay perspective its not a bad game at all. Definitely not deserving of a high place on the list but it's at least better than Federation Force.
You are entitled to your own opinion and I will say this was certainly an interesting list...however, I can't believe you ACTUALLY think Metroid Pinball is a better game than Other M!
IMO, you were unfair to Metroid: Other M. I know we all have different likes, but I rank it to the level of such games as Mario Bros.: Other M, Mega Man: Other M, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out: Other M, and The Legend of Zelda: Other Z. Please be more open-minded to these games.
Oof, I can't take this list seriously with a 3D Metroid game being at number one. Super Metroid is for sure first place followed closely by Zero Mission, then Dread and Fusion can fight for 3rd/4th place.
I mean, Idk what you want to see, but I have MP3 ranked higher than any other list I've seen. If everyone says Other M sucks, maybe its not social convention, but MAYBE it just actually sucks. lol. What would be some big differences on your list?
Say what you want about other M, The real worst Metroid game for some reason is not on this list, and that is the original Metroid, that game is near unplayable, one day I pulled out graph paper (because there is literally no in game map) and tried to beat it without a guide and this freaking game locks vital items behind random Bombable spots that look the same as every other block, on top of no healing that forces you to grind for over half an hour with max E tanks to get to full health just to die to some random bs enemy that can stun lock you in a freakin door, and you star with 30 health after every death, I could go on and on, this game is just shit, complete and utter shit. We all are so lucky it ended up pioneering a whole genre but man it is not worth revisiting at all
You are right. Great ideas were there but the execution was way too cryptic and experimental (just like first 3 Ultima games....), but the real Metroid series starts with Super Metroid. Fortunately that episode was properly remade ...
What game would you have ranked higher or lower?
I would have fusion higher, but what you said made a lot of sense. Great video! Keep em coming
I would have put Zero Mission a few numbers up, as it's possibly the GBA's best game. GREAT list and well presented!!!
I would have put Other M in Top 5
I would not have put Super Metroid and Metroid Prime at the top. They were both great, but also both were improved on with future installations. I would say Zero Mission and Dread are better than Super Metroid, and I would rate the Metroid Prime series in order of release, Metroid Prime 3 is my favourite and Metroid Prime is my least favourite.
I would have put the 3d metroids lower and super metroid as the best video game ever.
Before watching, hoping Dread is top 5!

1 - Metroid Prime 2 Echoes
2 - Metroid Dread
3 - Metroid Prime

3. Dread: Great bosses, exploration and story
4. Zero Mission: Best remake ever!
5. Corruption: really beautiful and perfect controls and gameplay
6. Samus Returns: Love the new elements and the boss Fights
7. Fussion: Love the story, but I hate is to linear. I don’t think bossfights are that hard
8. Hunters: I like the world they made but, the bosses are the worst
9. Metroid NES: Not for new comers unless you like to be ass kicked
10. Samus Returns: incredible for It’s time but now really wird to play
Heres my list, as a person who's first and second games as a kid were fusion and Zero Mission, and who never got into the prime games till recently:
0. AM2R (0 Because its so good and deserves to be at the top but also its a fangame so doesnt count if you dont want to be crucified by nintendo)
1. Metroid Zero Mission
2. Metroid Dread
3. Metroid Prime
4. Metroid Fusion
5. Super Metroid
6. Metroid Prime 2
7. Metroid Prime Hunters
8. Metroid: Samus Returns
9. Metroid 2: Return of Samus
10. Metroid Prime 3
11. Metroid
12. Metroid: Other M
...
69: Federation Force
Yassss Metroid prime was my best GameCube game of all time it was like playing a movie
It is a well made video, i like it.
Here is my list:
1. Metroid Prime 2 Echoes
2. Metroid Dread
3. Metroid Prime 1
4. Metroid Prime 3
5. Metroid Fusion
6. Metroid Zero Mission
7. Metroid Samus Returns
8. Metroid Other M.
9. Metroid Prime Hunters
10. Super Metroid. I never finished it.
11. Metroid Prime Federation Force. I stopped playing it after 1 hour. It feels so boring everything you do, movement fighting.
Never Played: Pinball, Metroid 1, Metroid 2
Great video. I hope you keep making content.
Great video! I have the exact same ranking until the top 5:
1) Metroid Prime
2) Metroid Dread
3) Super Metroid
4) Metroid Prime 2
5) Metroid Prime 3
oh ! what made you prefer Dread over Super ?
i absolutely loved both, Super is like my childhood game and Dread is my current favorite game, but the fact that Super Metroid scared me 10 times more than Metroid Dread makes it better imo
It's official. I am the only person who enjoyed Other M's gameplay (I do feel the story could have been written better).
Other M is in my top-5 because of Samus voice-acting and impressive gameplay...
Other M is not that bad as a game. It's just not a Metroid game...
Prime was super amazing Magmoor Caverns was my all time favorite music I definitely agree with Prime being my all time favorite game in the Metroid series
>Fusion
>Most linear Metroid game to date
Yeah-no, that would be Other M.
My list:
1. Metroid (I was 5 years old when this game came out and it was the 1st Nintendo game I ever played. The game completely blew my young mind)
2. Metroid Prime
3. Metroid Prime 2
4. Metroid Prime 3
5. Metroid II The Return of Samus
6. Metroid Zero Mission
7. Metroid Samus Returns
8. Super Metroid
9. Metroid Prime Pinball
10. Metroid Dread
11. Metroid Fusion
12. Metroid Prime Hunters
13. Metroid Prime Federation Force
14. Metroid Other M
I'm really digging your content man!
Shout out to Battletoads, Zelda and Ninja Gaiden too
Great list and footage. Keep up the Top 10's!
Good on you for not letting peer pressure force you to put Super as#1. Prime is the better imo
omg he ranked Other M under the Pinball LMAO , the shade !
Where would you of put am2r
When I was a child I play Metroid 1 and I never can end the game it was so frustrating that I don’t want to try other Metroid games so so many years later I play Metroid fusion (on m351 retroroid console) and fell in love with Metroid games I only play 2d games I don’t have old console of Nintendo and I like a lot Metroid dread my list will be
1 Metroid fusion
2 Metroid of nes
3 Metroid dread
4 super Metroid
I have tu play the 3D versions thanks for making this video
It's good to know there are other people who like metroid pinball more than other M
Good video but I would definitely put Fusion higher
I would swap the top 2. Otherwise good list and great video
Fusion was amazing maybe could if been better but but I loved it for it’s story !
For me from the ones i've played: 1. Dread 2. Super 3. Prime trilogy (i put them together) 4. Fusion 5. AM2R 6. Metroid NES 7. Metroid 2 Gameboy
I haven't played the spin offs, nor Prime 2 and 3 :'(
But here's my ranking:
1-Metroid Dread: Love to replay, I love the art style, has the better mobility and gameplay in the series (imo), and it's challenging.
I have never played a Metroid, but I want to start with one before Dread, since I heard that one can be pretty difficult. Any suggestions?
I’d recommend Zero mission, it is a remake of the first game, it’s also the first game chronologically making it a good starting point story wise. The game is a lot easier than super Metroid and dread. But it’s still a really good fun game and has most the major bosses from the series. Overall I reckon it’s probably the best game to jump in
@@spinkydinkydoo I agree. It's easy compared to other Metroid titles and is a great starting point in terms of story.
You can also start with Super Metroid as it gives a quick synopsis of the story and gets right into the action.
Zero Mission
@@spinkydinkydoo Alright, thank you!
All in all though, my top five is:
1. Dread
2. Super
3. Prime
4. Samus Returns
5. Fusion.
I will never understand placing Prime so high. Metroid is one of those games that did not make the leap from 2D to 3D well at all for me. I've never made it far in Prime due to multiple upon multiple attempts to play it.
Hold up... did he just put dread before prime 1?
I’d place Metroid prime as first with super Metroid second. Third place is for echoes and then the ladder goes: am2r, zero mission, fusion, corruption, Dread, Samus returns and lastly Metroid.
Edit: I totally forgot about other M, but that game doesn’t exist so it doesn’t really matter.
My top 5:
1-Super Metroid
2- Zero Mission
3- Metroid Prime 1
4- Metroid Dread
5- Metroid Fusion
( man that was difficult to decide....)
I would have ranked Metroid 2 higher compared to Metroid 1 it’s an improvement in almost every way
Echoes definitively should’ve been higher, no game has re created the dark feeling echoes gives, at least in my own opinion
I would have flipped 1 and 2 but this is a good list.
Prime 3 Corruption would be my last rank. But I hated the motion control of the Wii all together, and I disliked the permanent hyper mode. But I agree with Prime 1 as the best of the series.
The Wii mote is Way superior to the GameCube controller for the prime games
Not for me. And I do not refer to aiming, but for those locks and touches etc. I find it simply annoying as hell.
@@ridley2734 Me too, it's extremely irritating and even unnecessary, it's there just to show what the wii could do
Not often I agree with game rank lists, especially for Metroid, but this is exactly how I would’ve put them. Nicely done video.
The only bad thing about Prime 1 are the abysmal bossfights and one lacking elevator
No shout out to AM2R?
Hot takes
1. Super Metroid is the best metroid game at all (still really like it though)
My list:
SM
Prime 1
Dread
ZM
Prime 2
Fusion
Prime 3
SR
Nestroid
Other M
M2
Hunters
I haven't played Federation Force or Pinball so they aren't on my list.
Some people watching never played some of those. Like myself Prime games. Had to turn off video when you clearly mentioned spoilers for some endings.
I have to disagree because Dread and Samus Returns set a whole new standard.
My ranking is
Metroid 2
Metroid
Prime 3
Fusion
Prime 2
Zero mission
Super
Dread
Prime
The series is just great, period. So I guess it does depend on personality and context. I never liked the Prime series much (so obviously none of the other first person ones either lol) because they didn't _quite_ translate the undefinable metroidness for me. And it wasn't like Zelda where I found the new 3D works just as compelling. The first one I played was Fusion, which you were right about - being my first one it ranks high, maybe even #2. But I watched my brother play Super Metroid when I was 5 years old, and it was a completely indelible experience for me. It can't not be #1. ✌
that's a cool list, there are several choices i would change tho
Other M is too low goddamnit xD
i'm pretty sure you can't have more fun playing Prime Pinball, then again that one didn't harm the whole series compared to Other M... but it was a cool hybrid experience with lots of different mechanics and twists, and brought back memories with the opening sequence being right after the Super Metroid events
as for the Prime series in general, i didn't really like them
i've never been that much of a FPS lover, and i have particular tastes in music, and music in Metroid Prime was not that great imo
i mean there's too much epicness and choirs, i really prefered the dark mysterious item collect fanfare from Super Metroid (my top 1 btw lol)
but hey, it's just a ranking of Metroid games ! one of the best game series of all time ! the worst of those games is still amazing
"your ready to kill this evil b\=ch"
me with the dolphin prime hack emulator with all cheats on with some added ones too: HELL YEAH I AM MY ARM CANNON IS LIKE THANOS'S INFINITY GAUNTLET ONE SHOT KILL YOUR GONE
Another prime 2 sleeper
I personally didn't enjoy zero mission as much as some other people probably because the original game kinda ruined the mindset for its remake.
Because the Remaster is just Prime, but better in literally every way, except for the Early Double Jump skip?
wish they would make an other M fix by making a 2d game and fixing the story
Metroid Prime is amazing, but I still think that Super Metroid is the best Metroid game.
WE DONT AGREE ON EVERYTHING
BUT YOU ANDI ARE LOCKSTEP WITH THE TOP 3!
Yoo metroid pinball is epic
For sure! It’s so difficult to rank, because it’s so fantastic for what it is
personally, i don't really like super metroid because samus is very floaty and can't grab ledges wich really annoyed me, i also struggle mooving while shooting in metroid prime mostly because you can't aim while going left or right, i know that you can lock ennemies however i really liked how metroid prime hunter work even if there was no cool power ups and stuff.
My top 5 and your top 5 are exactly the same
For me :
Fusion > Super >> Other M/Dread > Prime 2 > AM2R > Prime 1 > Prime 3 > Samus Returns > Zero Mission
Nah this is the only true Metroid top:
14. Metroid Prime Federation Force
13. Metroid Pinball
12. Metroid (1986)
11. Return Of Samus
10. Metroid Prime Hunters
9. Metroid Other M
8. Samus Returns
7. Metroid Zero Mission
6. Metroid Prime 3
5. Metroid Fusion
4. Metroid Prime 2
3. Metroid Dread
2. Metroid Prime
1. Super Metroid
super metroid will get a remake for switch
I agree completely with this list, although I prefer all of the 3D Metroids over 2D
Almost about the same as you did but it’s too close for my number one prime was good but so was super Metroid
Honestly I prefer Metroid two to Metroid kne
Were's Metroid Prime Hunters?
You are entitled to your own opinion and I will say this was certainly an interesting list...however, I can't believe you ACTUALLY think Metroid Pinball is a better game than Other M!
Other M better be top 3!
As long as Pinball is ahead of it, I can’t complain. Lol
Took a shot every time he said "explore." Got alcohol poisoning.
Wow.
Other M is so bad that it ranks lower than a Pinball game.
Idk man the Nintendo land game is pretty good
So Metroid dread is the best game
super metroid is my least favorite 2d metroid game just because its controls are awful. it would be so cool if it had a remake
Lol you put fusion below prime 3.. bruh prime 3 is the easiest game out of the series
Don't even gotta watch, just look at the chapters. Other M is worst and Super Metroid is still the best, nothings changed
I’ve only played the 2D games
1. Dread
2. Zero Mission
3. Fusion
4. Samus Returns
5. Super
6. Return of Samus
7. Metroid 1
Oof, I can't take this list seriously with a 3D Metroid game being at number one. Super Metroid is for sure first place followed closely by Zero Mission, then Dread and Fusion can fight for 3rd/4th place.
Super Metroid # 1
Dude... putting Federation forces in this list actually voids all of the content shown here...
And telling its better than other M? Is this a meme?
Totally lost me with the Dread OST slander.
Sad that you don’t have AM2R, I really love this game
Well not everyone's interested in fanmade games.
I swear these lists go more by social convention than personal opinions and once again, there are no surprises here.
Super Metroid should always be #1. If not, then a list is invalid.
Samus returns is the worst. The original is better in every way
Oh God your everywhere complaining about how much you hate Samus Returns, God you are such a troll.
Super Metroid should always be #1. If not, then a list is invalid.
Only the old school players (that played it when it was new) can appreciate how brilliant it was/is.
