I have a Flex 2 as well. and feel it has gone massively sluggish. What sort of performance jump did you see with SSD and RAM in the system? Also, does Flex 2 take extra SSD without removing the HDD way you did it?
After upgrade laptop becomes more responsive, especially with a bunch of chrome tabs opened, also application loading times improved. It looks like yours does not have an M.2 slot. But you can add 2x8GB DDR3L RAM and 2,5" SSD. If in your laptop still is HDD you will feel huge difference. Maybe your HDD is hybrid one and flash memory is worn out, that's why it feels sluggish. I read all the comments and got the answer for ram.for ssd Lenovo website officially sas upto 256 SSD. In one of the comments u mentioned 512 gb should be okay too. Can confirm if can use 512 m.2 SSD or even 1tb m.2 SSD. 1 TB SSD size is begger than 256 one but m sure it has enough space. Wanted to make sure before I go for it. One last question. This m.2 ssd will work along side the HDD right ?

Probably they are mentioning 256GB as this slot at the time was meant to be a cashing drive slot for ordinary HDD, and that was the max capacity of those cashing drives at the moment. I have flex 14 model 20308, and why it only has 2 part plug on my SSD socket (I think its 5 and 28 pin), not 3 part as the m.2 SSD you recomend on this video. Sorry for the english..
Your laptop model number is the same as mine. M.2 SATA SSD is split into 3 parts (B+M key) to fit into the NVMe socket that supports SATA interface. This laptop supports only M.2 SATA interface SSD's. When purchasing make sure that it's not NVMe SSD, as it will not work. Subscribe, thank you :)

Um, hello, I have a question...I have Flex 14 model 20308 with i5, 4GB DDR3 RAM and GeForce 820M...just replaced the 4GB ram stick with new 8GB ram stick (Patriot 8GB 1600MHz) and after pressing power button rhe laptop turns on, runs for few seconds, then turns off...the process repeats until I hold the power button to turn it off...screen stays black whole time

Did a bit research, so your laptop is the same generation as mine with 4th gen i7. So max memory is 8GB DDR3L as there is only one ram slot on the motherboard. (check links in the video description for spec.).
Yes, mine shows as well that there are 4 slots. But for real only 1. I think software just shows what memory controller supports, but not what soldered onboard. And it's DDR3L 1.35V as DDR3 1.5V will not work! Different voltage.

Does it have to be an m2 drive with m & b connector? Cant i install a samsung 980 pro? Yea, 980 pro ist 8cm not 4,2cm. @1:04 you see the two holes next to the m2-slot screw. @@sakujo20 Yes, it's a bit confusing. Same physical slot, but different communication protocol. Some m.2 ports support only SATA, some SATA, and nVME drives. (it's more common with old laptops or PCs as these days any M.2 slot will support SATA and nVME SSD).

Honestly, I don't know. It's a risky swap. You need to compare it to your old board, do they look the same, and do all the connectors are in the same place. As well you need to know what LCD connector is on the new board it must be the same as on yours, as there are 2 different displays 1,366 × 768 (pixels/1,920 × 1,080 pixels) with different connectors. Yes, you are right, you need m.2 SATA SSD (2242 size) B+M key. NVMe SSDs are faster ones, but this laptop does not support them.

Your laptop model number is the same as mine. M.2 SATA SSD is split into 3 parts (B+M key) to fit into the NVMe socket that supports SATA interface.
This laptop supports only M.2 SATA interface SSD's. When purchasing make sure that it's not NVMe SSD, as it will not work.

Um, hello, I have a question...I have Flex 14 model 20308 with i5, 4GB DDR3 RAM and GeForce 820M...just replaced the 4GB ram stick with new 8GB ram stick (Patriot 8GB 1600MHz) and after pressing power button rhe laptop turns on, runs for few seconds, then turns off...the process repeats until I hold the power button to turn it off...screen stays black whole time
Is your memory low voltage DDR3L 1.35V? What is the exact model of RAM? If it's DDR3L try to reseat it. Unplug the battery when doing this :)

Hello. I have the Lenovo Ideapad Flex 14 (model 80C4). And it has the M.2 slot (Key M), this Key supports PCIe x4 or SATA interface. The manual states that the PCIe version is Gen2.0. So could I use an "M.2 Mvme PCIe Gen3.0x2" or "M.2 Mvme PCIe Gen2.0x4 (if any)" instead of "M.2 SATA"?

400S is just too small and too slow. 430 is bigger capacity 256 vs 240 and theoretically is faster (if you choose 512GB capacity). It has RAM cache buffer (2-3GB or so, but still). And bigger wear out level 280TB VS 160TB.

Did a bit research, so your laptop is the same generation as mine with 4th gen i7. So max memory is 8GB DDR3L as there is only one ram slot on the motherboard. (check links in the video description for spec.).

Yes, mine shows as well that there are 4 slots. But for real only 1. I think software just shows what memory controller supports, but not what soldered onboard. And it's DDR3L 1.35V as DDR3 1.5V will not work! Different voltage.

The only RAM upgrade option is one DDR4 16GB stick. Speed does not matter as CPU supports DDR4-2133 and up.
And your laptop supports only SATA drives. There is no M.2 slot on it.

Does it have to be an m2 drive with m & b connector? Cant i install a samsung 980 pro? Yea, 980 pro ist 8cm not 4,2cm. @1:04 you see the two holes next to the m2-slot screw. I chopped these off (was just plastic), so that i've more space. But pc doesnt recognize my 980 pro. Any idea? I tried Legacy mode..
You need M.2 SATA your SSD is m.2 NVMe. And yes, SATA has B+M key while NVMe has M key.

@@sakujo20 Yes, it's a bit confusing. Same physical slot, but different communication protocol. Some m.2 ports support only SATA, some SATA, and nVME drives. (it's more common with old laptops or PCs as these days any M.2 slot will support SATA and nVME SSD).

No, there is no place for a large form factor SSD, unless you do some cutting on the chassis to make space and reallocate mounting points.
And keep in mind that you need an M.2 SATA SSD (not NVMe).

Honestly, I don't know. It's a risky swap. You need to compare it to your old board, do they look the same, and do all the connectors are in the same place. As well you need to know what LCD connector is on the new board it must be the same as on yours, as there are 2 different displays 1,366 × 768 (pixels/1,920 × 1,080 pixels) with different connectors. I think it's easier to sell this one and buy a new one :)
