- In this video, Andrew Lockwood from Forex Signals is going to tell you everything you need to know about the forex prop firm. Prop firms give small traders access to large trading accounts with which the small forex trader can trade on the behalf of the proprietary firm. The profits the small trader makes are then split between the prop firm and the small trader. This allows the small trader to earn far more money than they would have been able to with just their own capital. In the case of virtually all of the leading online prop firms all live funded trading after eligibility tests are passed is technically simulated trading with virtual funds inside the confines of the trader’s account at the prop firm, with the prop firm being the sole counter-party to the trader. This simulated trading construct is in place for regulatory reasons. So, the trader is not trading at all in the open market with 3rd parties, but rather is playing an elaborate electronic game of sorts, entering into simulated trades with the house with all of the simulated trading happening inside of the trader’s account. Prices, spreads and commissions are all hypothetical since no real trading is going on, and the prop firm just lays off the pay-out risk to a 3rd party market maker, without needing to trade, kicking the market maker a piece of the eligibility fee stream like paying them insurance premiums…

I looked in to prop firms earlier in my career and can confirm this video is 100% accurate. I didn't sign up to one as I mostly trade NQ and some of my set ups came out of hours which props don't like and found that opening a futures account and shelving my spread account helped me grow my account at a responsible level. I still have a spreadbet account for FX swing trades that I trade with other peoples money. Great video Andrew.

Please recommend one best prop firm you would deal with now & WHY. In traders Prop Accounts is Hedging Allowed(firm names)? Also For Hedged positions Is any margin required after hedging is completed? For open hedged positions carried overnight how is daily loss limit calculated next day of trading?.Please help.

I tried a leverage of 2000:1 once (practice account) that account lasted around 40 minutes 😂 learnt something that day 😅
I opened a live account with only $500 with 3000:1 with a broker and trades news with huge lots, turns out the news report came out in my favour and turned that $500 into $8,600. I Withdarawled that money right away and put it into my regular 200:1 account.

You don't need to be good as they are, however, with the passage of time, could make you better depending on your commitment to it. They have been doing this for many years, so you must also pay the price. Think of the benefits you get in the trading room and you will be better off

Some of these prop firms are a scam. For example, the ones that require you to put your own money forward, and if you lose money it comes out of 'your money'. If you lose all of 'your money', then they close your account. This is totally pointless, because it's mathematically equivalent to trading your own account at high leverage. The difference is... if you trade your own account, you keep 100% of the profit, instead of splitting it.
well said. unfortunately they don't understand it. I have made a video about that. compounding your own account would give you the same or even better results. both prop firms and compounding are risky tho. You are one of a few who understands the point and why prop firms are garbage
I prefer something else to these evaluation and verification phases. You are basically put under the gun to hit certain targets which adds a tremendous amount of pressure and in turn creates a high probability of failure. This is not how everyone should trade. If it works for you then fine, but you should create a strategy that works best for you and that makes money.
15:15 is true about MFF. They slippage us crazy and also they shave off your TP. This means if you have TP on a certain point they take you out for less. They blamed the market volatility. Horrible for scalpers

I scalp with MFF and just adapt to those issues. Their server did freeze a lot last week after CPI release. So I’m going to go to another firm by the end of this year.

I'd advice not to use all strategy you watch or read online. different traders, different strategy. trying to put all together will only lead to you making more loss.

Its nice to see someone that does not go out and say that 10% is by any means easy to achieve, and especially when you have such tight rules about how to get 10%, its stupid, and its not made for traders, its made to make you emotional and stressed so that you fuck up and have to take the challenge again, because that is how they make the majority of there money.
they say it's 10% but it's actually 100% because of the maximum drawdown which is your actual balance. that's why it's too difficult especially when you have to win big several times in a row. Please watch my video on that so you have an understanding of how it works

I don't know what to think about prop firms it seems like theres little room for error and if it dont match your strategy that can suck im wanting to be a swing trader currently in between back testing and life demo its going well so far but when i get to the point of live account i may just look to compound my account as im in full control then

The closest thing to what you are talking about is Expert Advisor : I wouldn’t recommend it though. Expert advisor to forex trader is equal to an accountant having Power of Attorney over a naive Athlete’s Finances. Whoops.

I am not sure why some of you are dogging on Prop firms! if you have the capital to trade for yourself, why wouldn't you use your account to compound the profits, while using the prop firm to make a steady income? That is my plan anyway.

True. furthermore they manipulate their numbers to make them look big but you'd be better off compounding your own account. You may see my video on that to know how they do that
