Way to go LU made drive down to see it in person. Was not disappointed. Y’all got big props from Rickey Smiley. Love the direction of the program. D.E.N. Even got ASU marching with system blues.
Former LU Band member here. 1st. GREAT TO SEE THE PROGRESS!!! Many are not aware that Langston disappeared from the upper realms of HBCU Marching Band because of a funds scandal that derailed their program for several years. It took a while but now their back!!! 2nd. I would be remiss if I didn't give some Constructive Criticism. That said... Notice how the sound volume drops as soon as the band goes into their drills (turn away from the audience)? Please consider executing the drills in Corp Style (Marching forward, backward, and sideways so as to always point the instruments towards the audience and most of all into the direction of the microphones).
Great feedback fellow alumni! I was saddened to see their demise after my father retired from the music department, and even more shocked to hear about money troubles...the 2010s were hard for Langston but I'm glad to see their resurgence! They are definitely a formidable non-swac opponent!
Man, Langston have a big band. The first drill would've been solid, if only the right side of the field hadn't stop a yard line too early on the 10 yard line, at 02:03. At least the other section caught the mistake and kept it pushing. Other than the mishap, I enjoyed LU full show. Well done Director of Bands. ♥
They have a big band which is obvious, but there are too many horn holders. With the right arrangements this band could be hell on wheels. I hope they make the necessary adjustments in the future.
I really like this program. For some reason they kind of remind me of Talladega, but I think this program is more cohesive and better fundamentally. With that being said, there is a lot of room for improvement. I heard bad pitches, intonation, and some balance issues. At times it sounds like sections are trying to outplay others. I like the energy and rawness of this program. Some musical polish, more attention to fundamentals, and a fire arranger (I think Craigmont director could really have this program singing) and Langston could take on just about anyone.
@@teejay7149 I'm talkin about how Dega was when they first hit the scene they were loud but had a lot of music fundamental issues Langston isn't quite as bad but there is still a lot of room for improvement

Maybe it just a personal thing but I feel like their percussion section can find a way to be more creative and our fills in between songs rather than it consistently being 4 taps. And I feel like they could’ve found a cadence or something better to go to concert band formation but to each his own. Great performance but there has to be attention to detail
@@teejay7149 comprehension is not in your favor. This quad uses material from the schools I listed. My statement stood for saying we already have those 2 schools with their style, we don’t need another remake of what is already existing. And HBCU DM lines aren’t all similar. Most look like JSU. The rest either aren’t good or don’t receive attention due to them not looking like J5. So yeah… this statement made full sense.
@@TazzKId boy STFU with your irrelevant ass critique. As if the program is going to actually listen to you. Talking about what people don’t need. Boy STFU 🤫…Just blowing hot air at this point.
@@TazzKId…..and like I said all HBCU drum majors are all similar, and when I say similar I mean you can clearly distinguish between HBCU drum majors and non HBCU drum majors. How different are you wanting them to be? TF. They all do the same damn moves. No matter what school came up with it the damn moves (JSU or whomever). This is a culture. Just worry about when you see a non HBCU doing the damn moves. And the people who you all perform for ain’t thinking about that shit. They just want to see a good show. I had no idea Langston has grown to the size it has… Good show! That concert selection was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great Job Langston University Marching Band!!
Way to go LU made drive down to see it in person. Was not disappointed. Y’all got big props from Rickey Smiley.
Love the direction of the program.

That drill was fun and spectacular! Great job LU. This was one of my favorite shows. Keep it up students and staff🔥

Langston did a great job!! I loved this field show😍.
My daughter is apart of this band and I am very proud of them. Good job LU🧡💙
Tuba's putting it down
FUN FACT: Langston University was once SWAC🔥
😂

As a proud former LU drum major, I’m so proud of y’all!!! 🦁🦁🦁
Dre they doing ain't they?! 💯❤️
Great performance 👏 👌 🙌. Loved those formations. My daughter plays the Saxophone 🎷. I really enjoyed the show, coming from Chicago to the South.
Loved the field show!!! Honestly yall were one of the best there. I'll give u guys a strong 2nd behind Txsu.
Definitely a change from the last time I saw them. Director has to be a PV alum.
Mark Gordon
These announcers gotta be stopped. The show was good but too much talking over the bands.
I agree 100%! The announcers go way too far, and that include all HBCU band announcers.
Exactly!! Just announce the names of the songs while the bands are coming onto the field and end it!!!
Nice field show. I’m loving the drills and ballad! That was nice 👍🏾 🔥🔥🔥🤝🏾
I like Langston's potential... Tears is my song! 🔥
I didn't know LU was this size. Great sound and show!!
BIG LUUUUUU🦁💙🧡
Wonderful field show.close up of the band next time.

Lip slurs and tonal exercises will clear up the issues they have...and sticking to hitting the right notes in euphonium section.
You both speak facts!

Sadly that’ll never happen

LU sound like old school PV in a Way
Definitely a PVAMU director it's giving that 90s and early 2000s PV
Mark Gordon
Definitely giving that PVAMU vibe!
Nice Pv Jr 💯
Drum majors need an identity. PV and Dega have their mark in the DM world. No need for more remakes. Esp when Dega is a remix of Jackson/Bama St.
So unheard of…When I think of Drum majors I think of JSU and BCU…Plus, HBCU drum majors are all similar. So this really doesn’t make much sense.

They should hire some of gambs arrangers or that band director from craigmont
Fun fact Langston was never in the swac😂😂😂😂 but the school before Langston was 💯Oklahoma Colored Agricultural and Normal University
Southern lite.
Not impressed
Band to big to be sloppy arrangements seems like the drumline improved they dont sound like middle school boys no more to big no sound
Irrelevant opinions….They did and sound great.
