      Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised in Jer. 31:31-34, Dispensational Theology is revealed to be in error.
      New Covenant Whole Gospel: How many Christians cannot honestly answer the first three questions below?
      Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary?
      Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
      Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
      We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.

    "There's no danger of the promises being taken away from the faithful"
    I think there would have been a better statement to be made here, personally. Because when looking at the question he answered:
    "But if God took away his promises for the Jews, then he could also take away his promises from the church!"
    I agree with the statement about the nation of Israel, but I think this is an interesting point:
    Revelation literally talks about this exact thing happening. It says that if specific churches in Asia do _not_ change their ways, God will remove their lampstands (in other words, allow those churches to collapse or be destroyed). That's an interesting thing to note, because yes, the Bible does say that if churches fail to be faithful to God they WILL be removed.
    The faithful believers as a whole will not, but on an individual level, or an individual church level? Absolutely it can happen. That's why Israel is a strong warning to Christians as well.
    Paul even warns Christians grafted in that just as unfaithful Israel was cut off, so to can those who are grafted on.

    I too grew up in the modern evangelical pond never having heard the terms Dispensationalism, Arminianism, Calvinism etc. In all those years I was troubled by how poorly what I was being taught fit with the scripture. The first thing to go was Arminius followed by Credo only baptism. The last piece to fall into place was Postmillennialism (though I can accept the possibility of some forms of optimistic amillennialism).
    Not initially knowing the terms I have moved from Baptistic-Armino-Dispy to full throated Reformed, Calvinistic, covenant theology (though I would not consider Calvin to have everything exactly right). Essentially I would say that I am now pretty much classic Presbyterian. In light of my journey I think I can in good conscience say that my current views are not a result of tradition as they are almost entirely in opposition my actual tradition.

We could definitely do with more of Gregg's type of charity and character towards the brethren, and less acrimony and ad hominem polemics against those who hold other views. I know that his time is limited in this format, but while he does give a few scriptures passages to look at, it would be great if he would do a loonger Video with more verses to examine to, as he said, read it for ourselves, and have something to truly compare to the views that many of us have grown up in. We will find out how everything actually works eventually, but many of us would like to know as far as we can, exactly what is going to happen. However, so long as we have our salvation assured, it's really rather academic. 🙏✝️👑✝️🙏

    If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

As a matter of fact, there are many so called "Christian" doctrines which will not be found if someone just actually reads the Bible for themselves. Examples: the Calvinist doctrine of T.U.L.I.P; the Universal doctrines of the "incarnation" and "deity" of the Man Jesus of Nazareth; the "construct" of the so called "trinity", i.e., 3 "divine persons in 1 divine being"; the concept of "the Church" established by the so called "fathers of the church". And I Cor. 15:26 tells us that the Last enemy to be conquered is Death. Numerous other passages say the same thing --- as you have also taught on.

      @teelee2557 6 месяцев назад +5

      Do you see how you added what you wanted the verses to say? You totally read your belief/presuppositions into the verses. No where in 1 Cor 15 does it talk about the "rapture" or the "tribulation". It talks about the resurrection and that is it. But from other passages in the Bible, we know that the resurrection occurs on the Last Day. According to Jesus as He says in John 6 in four different verses (v 39, 40, 44, & 54). Here is just one of those four, John 6:40--"For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” Unfortunately, that is the problem that I've found with Dispensationalism is that it reads the Bible through an "end times" grid, even though the verses don't actually say what the presuppositions want them to say. Now that I left Dispensationalism, the Bible makes a lot more sense. I want to encourage you to read the Bible text with what they actually say, not what you want them to say.

    I'll admit I don't totally commit to a specific view on this, but when you read Zechariah 12, it's REAL hard to not see at least that Jerusalem and Israel, a tiny country, moves all the nations around the world -
    Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
    And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness. (Zechariah 12:2-4, KJV)
    Curious - does anyone know of a different time in history this scripture can be applied to?
    Also this scripture:
    And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. (Revelation 20:3, KJV)
    If you take a look around you realize really fast the devil is not locked up and he is still deceiving the nations. This scripture says when he is locked up he will deceive the nations no more.

    Small point of contention on 1 Corinthians 15:51.. Hebrews 9:27 says we are all going to die. It used to bother me that when Jesus comes back the living saints will be caught up into the air and transformed in the twinkling of an eye. Then it dawned on me that God could kill me and resurrect me into a new body faster than I could lose consciousness. We might not sleep, but I believe we're all appointed to die once as it says in Hebrews. Just sayin! 🤷‍♂😎

    What Scriptural event do dispensationalists and proponents of a future Daniel's 70th week, believe Jesus was going to fulfill with this prophecy:
    Matt 23:38 *_Behold, your house is left unto you desolate._*
    Remember, the pre-Trib says the reconstituted Nation of Israel will wake up and worship Jesus as Messiah and everything will be joyous in the Kingdom forever. So Jesus couldn't have been prophesying the above complete desolation of the House of Israel AFTER they turn to Him in a literal Millennial Reign. They can't be left both desolate forever, and rejoicing in the Lord forever. Which one is it?
    Therefore, it is Dan 9:26 and 27 that Jesus was prophesying to fulfill, speaking of the annihilation of the House of Israel to take place. If so, Daniel's 70th week was already fulfilled by Jesus and the Disciples (Acts 28:27-28), culminating in 70 AD - just like Jesus said - that generation would not pass away until they saw the abomination and desolation of their Temple, City and the people themselves.
    Believers were told to flee to the mountains by Jesus. The unbelievers instead were gathered together at the Temple and were made un-alive, or carried off into slavery. That was the fulfillment of Daniel's 70th week.
    Daniel 9:26-27 KJV
    And after threescore and two weeks shall *_Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:_* and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
    [27] And he [the Messiah] shall confirm the covenant with many for one week [Rom 15:8]: and in the midst of the week he [Messiah] shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease [Heb 10:10,12], and for the overspreading of abominations he [the Messiah] shall make it [the Temple] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate [the City and the People].

    I see replacement theology is alive and well! Romans 11:1 "I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid."
    It is very telling that those who oppose Paul's unique dispensation (Ephesians 3) never actually deal with the scriptures or arguments that the dispensationalists use. I wonder why?
    Matthew 4:23 "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people."
    Matthew 9:35 "Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people."
    Matthew 15:24 "But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
    Jesus came preaching "the gospel of the Kingdom" to the nation of Israel, to fulfil what was promised to them in the writings of the Old Testament prophets. Paul comments;
    Romans 15:6-9 "Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers"
    It is very clear that Jesus while on Earth was here to fulfill what was promised in the Old Testament. The prophets foretold that Israel would be the nation above the other nations (Deuteronomy 28:13, Deuteronomy 15:6, Isaiah 60:12, Psalm 2:8), which is why when Jesus ascended the last thing the disciples asked was;
    Acts 1:6 "Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?"
    This is the "Gospel of the Kingdom", the good news that God's promised earthly Kingdom of Israel was about to break into the world. This message was for Jews only, but Gentiles who understood Israel's exalted position could enjoin themselves and benefit from the crumbs of that Kingdom (Matthew 15:28).
    Peter in early Acts begins preaching to the "men of Israel" (Acts 2:21-28). To them he says:
    Acts 3:19
    Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
    Peter tells Israel that if they repent, God will send Jesus Christ to them, so that they may enjoy the forgiveness of sins promised in their New Covenant, and the presence of the Lord will finally be on Earth as foretold by the prophets "since the world began". This is what the prophets had foretold since the world began, the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God on earth, with Israel as the nation above the nations. Now contrast that with what Paul wrote to his gentile audience;
    Romans 16:25
    Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was KEPT SECRET since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith.
    Paul when preaching to his gentile audience, tells them that the revelation of the mystery, which Peter never made any mention of, nor did Jesus in his earthly ministry, was kept secret since the world began, "but now" is made manifest. The phrase "but now" appears many times in Paul's letters (Romans 3:21, Romans 6:22, Romans 7:6, Romans 11:30, Romans 16:26) referring specifically to the time after the resurrection of Jesus and the subsequent fall of Israel (Romans 11). It follows then that the "revelation of the mystery" that was kept secret, was not known in previous ages or by the prophets of Israel. This is important, which is why Paul re-itterates it elsewhere;
    Colossians 1:26-27 "Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory"
    1 Corinthians 2:7 "But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory"
    Ephesians 3:3-6 "How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel"
    The mystery, which was revealed to Paul, was clearly not known in previous generations. The previous generations who were given the prophets of Israel, were given prophecies concerning the rise of Israel as the nation above the nations (Isaiah 2, Isaiah 66), but had no knowledge that God would do something as a result of their fall. Since Israel had fallen, it follows that their laws, and covenants, fell with them, to be resumed later (Romans 11:11-12, Romans 11:25-26). We are to fellowship in the mystery (Ephesians 3:9), not in Israel's New Covenant. The New Testament includes both the mystery program, which Paul calls the "Gospel of Grace" (Acts 20:24) and the prophetic Kingdom of God, called "the Gospel of the Kingdom". These two gospels are clearly seen here;
    Galatians 2:7 "But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me (the gospel of grace), as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter (the gospel of the kingdom to israel)"
    Galatians 2:9 "And when James, Cephas (Peter), and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision."
    The two programs agreed to separate their ministries, the 12 going to the 12 tribes of Israel with the promise of their kingdom, calling the nation to repent so they could receive it (Acts 3:19). The nation refused the call, and thus, fell at the stoning of Stephen. The 12 spent the rest of their days ministering to their converts, until they finally diminished and died out, being replaced entirely with Paul's ministry for the last 2000 years "until the fullness of the Gentiles comes in" (Romans 11:25).

      @VFXShawn 3 месяца назад

      Jesus said in Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. This should be contrasted with what Paul wrote in Colossians 1:23 "If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister." Paul during his own life time could say his gospel had already been preached and heard by "every creature", yet the end did not come for 2000 years. Clearly there are two gospels, one that will be preached at the end, ushering in the end of world history as we know it and the entering of the Kingdom of God on earth (the gospel of the Kingdom of Israel), and the gospel that calls all to believe during Israel's rejection of that Kingdom (the gospel of grace). Now let's read Paul's warning;
      Galatians 1:6-12 "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."
      Paul is warning his converts in the Body of Christ to not let anyone, even the 12 disciples/apostles, preach a gospel to them other than Paul's gospel. Why? Imagine if Peter came to the Gentiles and said this;
      Will God send Jesus Christ if the Gentiles repent? No. Paul's audience already received the atonement (Romans 5:11) and had already been forgiven (Ephesians 4:32). That would contradict what Jesus said;
      Matthew 23:39 "For I tell you that you will not see Me again until you (Israel) cry "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord".
      Israel must repent for Jesus to return, not the Gentiles. So Paul warns his audience not to let anyone preach to them the gospel of the Kingdom preached to Israel, or any other gospel (that is no gospel at all), other than Paul's gospel, which Paul calls "my gospel" (Romans 16:25), which was revealed directly by Christ to him.
      1 Timothy 1:15-16 "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting."
      "Chief": The Greek word used for "chief" in verse 15 is "πρῶτος" (prōtos), which can be translated as "foremost" or "first" in rank or importance.
      "First": In verse 16, the Greek word for "first" is "πρῶτος" (prōtos) as well, which carries a similar meaning of being the first in sequence or priority.
      Clearly Paul is the first member of the Body of Christ, which makes sense since Paul is a Jew and Greek in one body, and is the first to join this new calling after the fall of Israel at the stoning of Stephen.
      Galatians 6:16 "And those who will walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God."
      Paul makes a distinction between his audience, the Body of Christ, and the Israel of God, who were contemporaries as the two ministries overlapped in the first century period of the book of Acts. However, we learn Israel was to diminish (Israel 11:11-12), leaving only Paul's ministry active for the last 2000 years. However, the offer the Kingdom to Israel is still on the table, should that nation repent, and they will, after "the fullness of the Gentiles" comes into Paul's ministry (Romans 11:25). Once that happens, Hebrews to Revelation will be the instructions to the final generation of Israel, who will endure the time of Jacob's trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), the Day of the Lord (Isaiah 13:6, Ezekiel 13:5, Joel 2:1, Joel 3:14, Amos 5:18, Zephaniah 1:14, Zechariah 14:1), the Anti-Christ, and the return of Christ to the Earth.
      Concerning that time, Amos 5:18 says "Woe to you who long for the day of the LORD! Why do you long for the day of the LORD? That day will be darkness, not light." However, Paul writes;
      1 Thessalonians 5:1-9 "Now, brothers and sisters, about times and seasons we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, 'Peace and safety,' destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness."
      Paul had no need to write to his audience about that time of darkness, because his audience belong to the day, not the night or the darkness. Had Paul anticipated his audience would endure that time of trouble, he would have said the opposite and given instructions on how to endure that horrific time in history. Instead, Paul just assures them they don't belong to that time, and he has no need to write to them about it. Further still;
      2 Thessalonians 2:1-2 "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him (Rapture, good thing!), That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ (Day of the Lord, bad thing!) is at hand."
      Paul writes to his audience who were confused about this, on the basis of our blessed hope and gathering to the Lord, to not let anyone worry them about the prophesied Day of the Lord. Revelation begins by John receiving a vision;
      Revelation 1:10 "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day (the Day of the Lord), and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet."
      The book of Revelation is the revealing of the Day of the Lord, the time Paul had no need to write about, but John clearly did. John, as an apostle to the 12 tribes, saw their final generation and the horrific time that will come upon the earth. Paul assures us that time will not come until a few things happen first, namely, our gathering to the Lord (2 Thess 2:1).
      With all this in mind, it is easy to see; the Body of Christ is a unique group, made of Jew and Gentile during Israel's fall. We do not partake in Israel's laws, covenants, promises, or anything to do with that nations national destiny. Israel will become a nation of priests (Revelation 1:6), and then this will be fulfilled;
      Zechariah 8:23 "Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you."
      Jews during that time will be taken to Jerusalem, and Gentiles will beg them to go with them to meet the King. That is clearly not happening today, that is the prophetic program of Israel and their national destiny. Our destiny as the Body of Christ is unique, heavenly, and so Paul writes;
      Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
      This wonderful distinction from Israel and their calling is what sets us apart as a unique group with a unique calling. Paul prays;
      Ephesians 1:17-23 "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all."
      You can understand why Paul did not begin by telling his converts about this wonderful fact, because only spiritual people who are able to make spiritual distinctions and really understand Israel's national destiny can come to understand their unique calling. This is advanced, spiritual information for the Body of Christ to understand their vocation in the Lord. That is why Paul had to pray for God to open the eyes of our understanding so we can finally see exactly what we have been called into, this glorious purpose. This amazing revelation given to Paul is the means by which God will take back the heavenly realms and fill those positions of power with His Body. This is the manifold wisdom of God (Ephesians 3:10) that the angelic realm had no knowledge of. Sadly, most Christians don't have any clue how special they are, how beautiful this calling is, and exactly what our hope and identity is in Christ. For this reason, I believe this is the most important ministry in the world today, calling sinners to believe the gospel, and then instructing those who are saved in the letters of Paul and contrasting them with the Old Testament / 4 gospels / Hebrews to Revelation, so they can understand who they are.

Yet, when oh when ,have the latter been anything other than ""/expendable" / unmentioned - in the context of the Christian dispensationalists absurdly quoting OT passages in support of their toadying up to non-Christians - namely the state of Israel ? Have you read the Jewish prayer about Christians = Birkat ha monim(sp?) How the Jews pray that "Nazerenes "will be blotted out of the book of life?
      Cozying up to people who are opposed to the gospel is offensive= especially when there is no evidence that there is any real heart for Usrselis as induviduals? Love them. Love all people.
      All Christians like Paul rejoice over every Jew who becomes" new creation". May the fulness of the gentiles come! But praying for the secular state Israel ?? Pray rather as a peacemaker. That not the obscenity of war is needed. That is what Jesus enjoins his followers to do in his Kingdom citzen requirements in the NT.

      I'm being cheeky Brother, take no offense.
      I grew up in Dispy churches - Tim LaHaye was our Pastor.
      Every Thursday Summer Bible Conference (70s - early 90s) it seemed like the latest Prophetic "Key" or "Mystery" to the timing of the Rapture / Second Coming were unveiled, or a New Book published.
      "88 Reasons why Jesus will come in 1988".
      Next year I expected Tim & our Elders to publish a disclaimer stating:
      "88 Reasons why we keep getting the Rapture predictions wrong"
      Never happened !
      It shows a stunning lack of credibility, and poor ethical & spiritual standing to sweep rank errors under the rug, but "we" did it, due to the underlaying aberrant Theology of JN Darby & CI Schofield.
      I didn't reject Christ or God's Word over these repeated FAILS.
      I did stop doing "newspaper headline urgent repent cause Raptures coming evangelism".
      Several sharp minded skeptics - being less invested & more honest - pointing out that similar fraudulent Last Days Madness schemes had been hatched on them dating back to 1930.
      I thought "At least these Prophetic guys could do is make the charts out of Velcro material so when their Timing is inevitably wrong, they can tear off the Rapture thingy & put it somewhere else on the timeline."
      Big savings on printing new prophetic charts every other year !

      TRUTH !
      Their eyes get glazed over by those "prophetic charts" & incomprehensible missing weeks (who stopped Daniels prophetic clock lol ?) and grand leaps of logic.
      I know, that was me in my less mature in the Faith phase, but one HAS to grow beyond milk, towards meat.
      Maybe that's it, the Dispy mindset is appealing to a generally simplistic milk loving baby Christian, primarily.
      The good thing is, Dispensationalism is dying a well deserved death, it's followers are hopeless & think the Devil's running the world, at least until Jesus sets up shop in the "never prophesied" 3rd rebuilt Temple.
      So, their take is a defective hard sell with no warranty.
      A real turkey of a theological system.
      If it were a car, it'd drive straight to the junkyard to be parted out, then crushed & melted down.
      I've observed that in decades past (but not any longer) the Dispy mindset was "great for recruitment, but horrible for training maturity & stability", as the Disciples seldom matured & we're always pining for a "quick Rapture Rescue" - being taught the lie that somehow they'd be spared the trials & Tribulation that has been the general lot of every Believer in JESUS CHRIST for 21 centuries.

      They are calling a people apart from Christ, chosen. Giving away their own birthright. One who calls another chosen is like a husband who has a wife and a side chick. It is like two people being married after a divorce. . While the one spouse disagrees with the marriage altogether and says "you may have married me, but the one you divorced is still your wife".
      Anyone who calls anyone outside of Christ, is an antichrist. This doctrine regardless of whatever else comes forth from their mouths, shows the darkness of their hearts.

    25:00… If the goal here is to deconstruct dispensational theology, it would be good and helpful if Steve Gregg was actually familiar with what he is critiquing.
    It seems apparent that Gregg has not read primary sources.
    Two specific examples:
    Saucy, Bock, and Blaising have (30 years ago!) made substantial movement from the Darby/Scofield original Dispensationalism, and similarly from the Chafer/Walvoord/Pentecost Classical Dispensationalists. If one were to put Generation 1 Dispies at the end zone on a football field (with Covenant theologians at the other end), Classic Dispies would be on the 20 yard line and Progressive Dispies would be on the 40 yard line.
    Regarding “literal” interpretation, Gregg is acting like a hack here. What he describes as the solution against “literal” reading is exactly what PDs describe today (for a generation!) about how they define “literal” interpretation. They recognize and include poetry, figures of speech, and eschatological language.
    So, let’s try starting again… Hoping this gets better about a spurious and ignorant start.

    • @chaddonal4331
      @chaddonal4331 7 месяцев назад +1

      By 40:00… It has become clear by now that Gregg himself has a more literal interpretation of the word “literal” than any form of Dispensationalists do. They subscribe to “normal” interpretation (virtually everything Gregg has described as the remedy) as “literalism”. As Gregg misunderstands their intention, he misrepresents them.
      His later question regarding what is the basis for symbolic and spiritualizing determinations - this is where the actual discussion lies. He gets better here…

    • @chaddonal4331
      @chaddonal4331 7 месяцев назад +3

      Part 2: Ok, here Gregg is brilliant! He explains why “replacement theology” is a false charge. God’s people within Israel (the faithful remnant) was the “ekklesia” of God under the first Covenant. This was the fulfillment of the prophecy to Abraham (blessing of all nations), but remained the “mystery” until it became part of NT revelation. This is accurate progressive revelation. And prophetic fulfillment.
      After Christ, at Pentecost, this ekklesia of God was expanded to the whole world of those who have faith in Christ under the New Covenant!

      @@tedbastwock3810 Did you read all 3 of my posts? Note my progression of comments. Also note the specifics of my critique, and of my honoring him where appropriate.
      No, Gregg seems to have a strong knowledge of original Darbyite Dispensationalism. He doesn’t distinguish it from the standard US Dispensationalism of the mid- 20th century (DTS marked by Chafer, Walvoord, Pentecost, and Ryrie - its best proponents.)
      And Gregg seems completely unaware of where Progressive Dispensationalism has gone in the past 30 years. So his arguments are refuting positions from 100 years ago. Valid enough. But not addressing where the center of the movement today has gone (which is more nuanced and has integrated some of Gregg’s own beliefs.)
      So his contrasts are sometimes exactly right, and sometimes he is quite unaware. He’s mixed. He really should read and engage current representatives of PG.
      As for how much I know - how can you possibly know?

      You should put a little more effort on contextual study before giving arrogant semantic slaps to someone. Dispensations exist within a covenant, not separate from them. Paul in Eph 3, uses the word “dispensation” to define the new covenant of grace and rulership of Christ. In evangelical eschatology, dispensationalism, the word, is redefined. It is a false doctrine of future fulfillment of OT prophecies which have already been fulfilled. In fact, dispensationalism supersedes Christ’s Kindgom and his ecclesia in favor of the coming “dispensation” of reinstituting the mosaic kingdom of Israel of the flesh. Israel is called Gods favorite while the church is a second rate mistake and a “dispensation” which is coming to an end. This leads to a false rapture, a 7 year great tribulation and Jesus leaving his church in heaven, getting us out of the way, then ruling and reining with Jews from Jerusalem. Dispensationalism as a belief system is illogical and unbiblical.
