Coyote, My son, Will, loves your shows and he's a big fisherman of Blue Gills. He's six years old and can't get enough of your work. Thank you for teaching him all about animals and being safe:)
This is incredible.. 3 hours to catch a amazing creature, and the team didn't even seem remotely mad about it, just fascinated and proud. A true professional.
Here in Tennessee we have rainbow trout but they live about 300 feet underground. In Sweetwater Tennessee we have a cave system with the second largest underground lake called the Lost Sea that is stocked with these little guys. It all started when they wanted to find out if the lake actually went anywhere so they dumped a lot of the fish in. Being a good habitat for them, they just stayed and now enjoy the lake
When I was little, we all went fishing to a Rainbow Trout spot. I didn't fish but instead petted the rainbow trouts we caught in the bucket. Now I thought we were gonna realse them back in.... My parents brought them over to where they cut the fish up. I cried the whole way home and refused to eat the trout dinner. Many years later and I'm still sad about it.
THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. I thought my parents were catching fish to put in our aquarium... Then, they took them to this lady, who just filleted them right in front of me. Traumatized until I was 15 to the point where I wouldn't even EAT a fish; not even canned TUNA.
I kinda feel lucky, but kinda not. So i live in northern norway, we have lots of fish like brown trout, rainbow trout, pike, grass pike, and perch. But not any really good pokémons.
When he said something like "this is our 8th attempt, its always around this area" it made it sound even more like a video game. I mean this guy is the closest thing to a pokemon trainer. And this was a minigame to catch a pesky fish that you could retry as many times as you wanted. You don't get much of a reward, except that you completed the minigame xD
I was 5 years old in Alberta, having a family picnic by a river. My cousin, aunt, uncle, and great uncle decided to go play in the water, so of course I had to join in. About five minutes later I felt something tickle my feet. I looked down, and this giant fish, it looked like it was dark purple with orange-pinkish spots but the lighting was low so it could've been very different, was sitting on my feet. Of course I screamed in excitement and scared the fish away, but I still feel amazed that this fish was okay to nestle onto my little 5 year old feet. Truly as much a once in a life time moment as having a ground squirrel nearly climb your pants, or defending baby magpies from grackles while mama magpie takes a rest beside you.
*facepalm* THEY WERE GONNA BRING IT BACK TO WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE STAYED ON ITS PATH. THEY KNOW HOW TO HANDLE FISH. FISH CAN GO WITHOUT WATER UP TO 1-3 MINUTES.
This guy seriously needs more views, i feel like im watching a show on the discovery channel or something, this is top notch quality man, you bet i subscribed!
Fish tales... hmm. As a young kid, swimming in an ocean tidal pond, cut off during low tide, with numerous sting rays. Didn't know they were poisonous. Sitting on a rock on the edge of a river, dangling my bare legs into the water. A group of little fish kept nibbling my feet. Disconcerting feeling. Young adult, went on an ocean bottom fishing trip. The water became very choppy, and I had motion sickness; couldn't wait for the trip to be over. Others had caught large fish, but seeing their bugged out eyes, from the change of pressure, made me want to not catch one. A man who went to the loo, lost his expensive fishing pole, which was set securely, he thought, over the side of the boat, was pulled into the sea from a fish that took the bait. Awhile later, my fishing pole had caught something. I reeled in a fishing rod, the one that was lost. Guy gave me cash, for retrieving his gear. Paid for my fee for the chartered boat.
Thanks, Coyote! I'm a storyteller, and I love when serendipity steps in, like getting my somewhat unpleasant fishing trip (was talked into it) paid for. Hey, even the boat operator cut the trip short, because it was too unsafe with the high waves. I have some other fishing tales, but would make this too long, hehe.
I caught a 9 foot 7 gill shark and a smaller leopard shark, - but not with my bare hands. While exploring out in the wilderness with my 4 year old, he yelled to me, "Dad, come here! There are fish in this stream!" The little red stream was about 3 feet wide. I thought, how cute, he's all excited over little fish. Then he lifted his little hands above his head, holding a 3 foot cutthroat trout over his head. I couldn't believe it! Turned out, the stream wasn't red because of clay, it was red because hundreds of cutthroats had jammed themselves into it and they were so packed in there they couldn't go anywhere. It was very cool.
Coyote Peterson :D You're very welcome! I would love to do some exploring but right now I live in Blackpool, England, Uk. In about 3 years though I'm moving either to Australia or New Zealand. The time depends all on money, you know.
Yes, my grandfather loves fishing...the worst fishing trip was when we ONLY caught a shark, which bit him, good thing it didn't look so bad. He said it didn't hurt that much either.
#SaveTheTurtles Please click [read more] for the sake of turtles! Spread the word! Don't throw away plastic bags, recycle them! Trash is brought to a landfill and if plastic bags are in the trash they end up there too! Then the plastic bags can blow away in to the sea. Turtles confuse plastic bags with jellyfish and turtles eat jellyfish. If the turtle eats the plastic bag thinking it's a jellyfish he/she will do it again. The turtle's stomach will fill up with plastic and he/she will die due to starvation because plastic is not biodegradable. It's not just plastic bags that will do this, it's most plastic such as plastic disposable Poland Spring (US) Evian (UK) water bottles, plastic disposable party cups, cosmetic containers such as shampoo, conditioner and mascara. This might surprise you, but this is why sea turtles are ENDANGERED!AND WHY IT IS VERY HARD TO FIND THEM SO WE NEED TO HELP SAVE THEM!!! DONT COMMENT MEAN THINGS JUST DONT COMMENT. Ps. this all came from a 11 year old 5th grader.
Hey Coyote when I was in 2nd and 3rd grade we got to raise rainbow trout in our classroom. They were just tiny little eggs but we went up to a river and released them.We also got to go up to the Fish Hatchery and learn about them it was a really fun experience. Now that I'm in 5th grade we're gonna get to go to Camp Keep and learn all about the animals up there.I can't wait!!
Said Medina good catch, yeah there were a couple whitefish that jumped in the shot, there were also rainbows in the background. We left it in there to show there were a lot of fish in the river. The trout were a little camera shy that day! Thanks for watching, hope you liked the episode!
My Grandparents use to live in Story Wyoming, by the Piney Creek. It was full of Rainbow Trout, which they fed. A big female my brother, cousins and I named Nellie, was huge! And if we threw food near the bank, she'd swim close to get it, and eventually let us pet her real quick, as she swam by.
Andrew Osborne I have a 10 year old fish, and some fish when big/old enough can fetch a good price after buying them for say, a dime. In fact, since most pet fish are related to gold fish which are related to carp, they can live for a very long time.
once my friend and I saw this hugs King salmon in shallow water, right next to the bank. so we got out of the boat, grabbed the two nets we had and started walking towards it. He went around about 15 feet in front of it and I was behind it. The thing swam right in his net. Probably weighed about 40 or more pounds
Pan Kowalski That's controversial. But even if they don't, you are still causing them unnecessary stress. You don't need to fish. Do the thing in the video instead.
Oxygen*, and I'm willing to bet that stagnant 35 degree pool has some sort of spring feeding it. That fish would have probably been fine just staying there..
I caught a carp in a lake there were tons of them just kind of hovering in the water underneath the dock and I was swimming out to the lake and then back through underneath the dock as well and they were as big as me if you cut off my legs and their fins were super sharp but after five times hugging some in the water and twice getting a small one out from a shallow spot and many many head bumps from the different columns of the dock and a couple cuts from rocks and their spiny fins I finally caught one about arms length and called a guy over who was tying up his boat to help me hold it cuz it was HEAVY and I may be really strong for a teenaged girl but all that weight and muscle combined and I needed help a couple people got some pictures before we let it go back into the water and after a few seconds it jetted off and away from the docking area and deep into the lake the whole ideal took the entire day and I never did get to go jet skiing but it sure was worth it!
I catch them put them in a bucket then take them home and hang them on a big hook. Then i hit them with a club to kill them. I then proceed to cut all its fins off and skin it. Finally i remove its guts and cut its head off. After all that i take the meat and stick it in a freezer for the next fish fry.
used to catch brook trouts like that when I was 11 to 14 years old, we made a bag out of a T-shirt and my friend was poking under rocks and I was holding the "T-shirt-bag"/net with 2 sticks. These fishes are realy fast but I learned one thing. They go back to the same place almost every time and took the same route to escape. Failed the first time wait a while and place the net in the escape route and wait for the fish to swim into the t-shirt net. When I felt the fish in the net pull up the sticks and the fish was caught.
I'm a noodleing king from Oklahoma City. I would much rather catch fish with my hands instead of a fishing pole. Lol. Great job, I absolutely love the videos.

It's that or no money I mean, he gots to make the cash somehow

We used to fish these out of the Little Red River in north Arkansas. They make for a good campfire meal.
Yea. I certainly miss it. Haven't been there in years... Life felt so much more simple in those days.
yes
I've fly fished for rainbows before. They put up a good fight.

Fun fact: steelhead-the type of rainbow trout that lives in the ocean and spawns in rivers-can swim up to 25 mph
That fish looks like it's drowning XD but honestly, given Coyote's standard, I would have expected him to only need a makeshift net to catch a walrus.

used to catch brook trouts like that when I was 11 to 14 years old, we made a bag out of a T-shirt and my friend was poking under rocks and I was holding the "T-shirt-bag"/net with 2 sticks.
