Marner is way better than people give him credit for, I just think Sheldon Keefe was an awful coach who didn't use Marner to his strengths. He was always a rink rat who could stifle defences with ease. Remember the revelation of how good a penalty killer he was by keeping the puck in the offensive zone? If you don't, blame Sheldon Keefe for not realizing he could do that party trick on the regular. His problem is confidence, he isn't a closer, he's an assister. I urge people to hold your opinion on Marner until Craig Berube does his thing and makes Marner man up while playing a style of hockey that works to his strengths.
What people should be clamoring about is how bad Morgan Rielly is for how much he gets paid. He's been on cruise control for years.
If the leafs keep him, it will be the same type of contract as Nylander. If he is not happy with that, they will look at a trade that works for him and allows the Leafs to rebuild his numbers with multiple players. Get a solid 30 goal scorer for him along with a D to help boost that backend.

Maybe if Marner showed up in the Playoffs he wouldn’t be such a lightning rod! Great during regular season, no argument. Puts up big points! A huge dud when it counts in post-season

@@VEGANzUmebies 2024 Playoffs 7 games played and 3 points, also had a meltdown on the bench that doesn't help team chemistry. The guy makes $10+M and has to show more post-season. He hasn't demonstrated the ability to play like regular season performance when things get more physical.

Lmfao it will be a big mistake hiring him. He is 1-12 in playoff series as a head coach and 0-7 as a pro head coach.
You also need to take into the fact the Toronto fans are almost universally tired of Mariner’s act. He has worn out his welcome in Toronto. Sure he is a great regular season player but disappears in the playoffs.

If Penguins fans knew how bad of a GM Kyle Dubas is, they'd be super concerned about all the roster contracts that will be expiring soon. Look at all the bad contracts he signed as GM of the Leafs. He's like the Justin Trudeau of GM's, great in front of a camera but that's the extent of his abilities. All optics, no results.
Florida proved you don't need a highly paid offense to win in the playoffs. Rangers and Edmonton found out the hard way. Defense prevails in the playoffs . Leafs still don't get it?
