What jazza says about ugly sketchbook pages is so true. If you’re not drawing because you think all your drawings have to be good, please try and find a way to break through that! It’s a thing that holds back so many people.
I found it was best to avoid using pretty sketchbooks and I just get these basic softcover books for my general sketching. Images overlap, I get scribbly and messy. I just let the pencil carve out the shapes as I play around with it. I have pads of different paper types for more finished work, wet media etc. but the sketchbooks don’t have to be polished pieces. Heck if you are a beginner and have a limited budget just get yourself a pack of A4 printer paper. Don’t like a drawing just grab another piece of paper. I did all of my GCSE pencil studies for my final exam piece on printer paper all those years ago. At the time I didn’t even realise there were other options other than watercolour paper. I still improved my skills using that paper.
@@thisnthat42 yeah totally! I think the big thing is just draw a lot even if you think your drawing is rubbish. Do whatever you need to to keep yourself drawing.

I somehow fell into the mindset that I couldn't draw in my sketchbook unless I was ready to do a completed artwork. I was forgetting drawing ideas because I refused to sketch them out! Luckily in January I realized I needed to stop thinking that way and I've been sketching out my ideas again and just that has rekindled my love of drawing! So sketch in your sketchbook...that's what it's for 😊
I've really loved the last couple of weeks on this channel, seeing more and more drawing and character designs like the good old days. It sucks that youtube punishes creators for doing their own thing when it comes to original characters but 'fan art' style stuff does really well. Regardless I'm glad Jazza has gotten to do more character design stuff recently and I really hope its something that can continue!
Dear Jazza, I cosidered myself a person of arts. I play musical instruments, i sing, i write, i dance, i act. But always had a big problem with drawing. The last couple of weeks Im watching your videos. They are inspiretional. I used to think i will never learn how to draw, i have no talent. But since you came into my life, I found a new pasion. Im so gatefull and i promise the first oportunity i have, ill thank you wot just in words but with actions as well. Thank you for inspiring us to go beyond ourselves, you are a wonderfull person
I love going through the sketch process. I am currently going through the process of drawing something every single day. Via the commitment of having something done every day, it makes it a bit rougher, but it also feels like I am rapidly getting better at drawing. I would encourage all artists to sketch, get something done, every single day, even the lightest doodle.
Thank you so much for this sketch pack, I could barely manage to afford one, but its bringing back my love for sketching like I used to when I was in high school. I feel so much more creative on paper than I do with my drawing tablet. The tools are so quality!!
Jazza, all the character design videos have always been my favorite. Haven't seen as many in recent years. Also, I didn't realize you and Shad were brother until like 2-3 years after subscribing to the both of you. Love all the collaborations.
I think the reason the monster-from-book character design works on youtube is because it involves the audience and the unknown of the reveal is even more compelling than just crafting a story around a normal character design 👍 👍
I just ordered the Pro Sketch Pack yesterday and I'm so freaking excited! I've been doing everything digitally for years and am taking this to finally get out into nature and draw on paper again Thank you so much for the inspiration you give us all the time!!
i think i know why straight character design videos don't do well, but the videos of doing characters based on descriptions does work. it's the same reason why so many people read fanfic easily, but can't be motivated to pick up a new book. new character design is new, it's new lore, a new person, a whole investment in learning and understanding a new world. but character design from pre-existing content doesn't require that kind of investment. it's already a known quantity. and i think that we have all just been so god damn exhausted the past few years.
Always like to give these art challenges a shot. I was looking through some of my old sketchbooks the other day and whilst most of my character designs are not great I was quite pleasantly surprised by some.
I have been drawing for years and still feel discouraged at times because I still don't feel like I have improved too much... but looking back at my old art I can see I have improved a bit
Hey dude just wanted to say thanks, you inspired me to start drawing about 2 years ago when I came across your channel and I haven't stopped since your continuous energy and love for it makes me push harder to be better and I wanted to thank you for it because the more I watch you and practice the better I get thanks a lot dude
Although the materials in this sketch pack are amazing, just got mine the other day, it's the practice and talent of these artists that makes the sketches look amazing! You can tell Morgan and Alicia have practiced their craft for a long time to just pick up a new medium and totally crush an amazing 'quick' sketch.
Well this video got me back on twitter again for the first time in a year. Thanks jazza! This was really fun to do. I love the character design videos, basically any videos that feature you drawing. And I've learned a ton from watching them.

I appreciate you pointing out that your a professional and have been for a long time. Which kind of blows my mind because I thought you were like, 27 at the oldest. Anyway, thanks for the positive energy you bring to the art community! You're one of a kind!

I never EVER buy stuff that youtubers are selling, but I HAD to buy this! I got in before the cut off date and bought myself one and I am more excited about this than I've been about anything since the birth of my son. I've always loved art, but never had the chance to use professional grade materials because of the cost. I'm SO excited to see what I can produce with this! I'll keep you tabbed Jazza!
Well, you finally got me. Even though I only really draw D&D maps, maybe the pro-sketch pack will inspire me branch out and tackle my original monsters too. Im excited, I'm 26, and the last time I even attempted character design was at least 10 years ago. Thanks Jazza, I've been subscribed to your brother for years, and I found you through him, but you speak to the kid in me who really loved to create and draw monsters and other crazy shit. Yeah, I even got the pack and used the pens and materials in a Tear-away ringbound A5 Sketchbook that "I've already broken in and if ruined i can just tear the page out" (it does help that it doesnt have a too pretty/clean cover with the price and info printed on) The liquid graphite and that flex tip pen and the nice liquid but very opaque white pen are probably my highlights. But I just cant make myself draw in the pretty Notebooks that came with the art pack :S

Honestly, I am so excited for the future contant and competitons. I subscribed like a year ago and have been watch8ng and learning since and watching the videos of the competitions wanting to get in. A DREAM CCOME TRUE.
Sometimes I get upset at my art when I try to do it after not practicing for a while. It’s quite discouraging seeing older art and knowing I can get to that level but it doesn’t feel like it. I still go back to my sketchbook sometimes but with work making me tired and (sometimes) being sick cause of work, my art makes me frustrated.
Don't stress!! If you know your art isn't looking the way you want it to, it means you're leveling up! You grow the fastest in that stage, keep drawing and choosing things to practice, and the muscle memory will come back. Using a medium you aren't used to can help you have more fun too.
I got the prosketchpack a few days ago and it is really good quality and well thought out. It got everything you need and so many new things to try out. I had little motivation before I got the sketchpack but now I am ready to get back into drawing again. Thank you Jazza! Love your videos and Insert art. Great work!
Great sketchbook tour! Watching this video gives me inspiration for my original character, and kind of makes me have an eagerness to draw. This is amazing!
Jazza! I bought your sketchbook n' such despite having not even attempted art in ages. Pretty much going in as a blind beginner. But! That sketchbook is so _pristine_ and that paper is so quality and just _nice_ (I always thought paper was paper, end of...But damn) that I can't bring myself to even mark it.
Hear me out, I would just absolutely love if you did some Brandon Sanderson sketches based on book descriptions. He has some amazingly unique monsters in his novels. Here's a couple, The Steel Inquisitors from Mistborn series: -the ultimate fighting machine -black-robed -tall man with a strong build -a thick metal spike had been pounded tip-first through each of the man’s eyes. With shafts as wide as an eye socket, the nail-like spikes were long enough that their sharp points jutted out about an inch from the back of the man’s clean-shaven skull. The flat spike ends shone like two silvery disks, sticking out of the sockets in the front, where the eyes should have been. -intricate eye tattoos-mostly black, with one stark red line-that marked him as a high-ranking member of the Canton of Inquisition The Chasmfiends from the Stormlight Archive -crustaceans monsters, carapace is dark violet and extremely durable -largest known land animals on the planet Roshar -at least twenty feet wide, six times the height of an adult man at their peak -long and narrow, with a flattened, split tail reminescent of that of a crayfish -eighteen legs -head is triangular, narrowing down to a point like an arrowhead -circular mouth, surrounded by several rings of teeth -eyes set above the jaw, glassy and gree -nostrils are located at the very end of the maw, while the ears are bare holes slightly behind the eyes
I’ve been getting into this channel again the last two weeks, and I’m glad I did! Really enjoy the videos and I got reeaaalllyyyy tempted to get the sketch pack and as it’s just been my birthday I figured I’d treat myself. So I’m looking forward to it arriving!
Just went back and bought 1 more pack. This one is going to my nephew for his birthday. He’s getting serious about art in high school, as I want to treat him.
Just ordered my sketch pack, hoping to get it in time for long overdue vacation to the southern United States. Love to do some sketches of the Smokey Mountains , Nashville, the Carolina's and the Ocean.
Ooooh putting my guess for the monster down below (hiding it for those that want to have no outside influence).... Sounds like different breeds of Trollocs from the Wheel of Time!
Just got my sketch pack to step up my tattoo game. I’m hoping I get it before deployment. You are an inspiration and love all your videos jazza. Thank you
I got the sketch pad set. I technically couldn't afford it, money is super tight due to debts includung some debts from our 19 y\o boycat crossing the rainbow bridge. Weirdness enough.. That event has helped my creative side. I had a massive creative stump\block and it was hard to not be able to do anything. But i really did want to get the kit. Been a long time since i had good sketching supplies. My hubby wants to go back to drawing and id like to re-learn\upgrade my skills. Carpal tunnel limits me but ahhh whatever, i like to draw and learn new things. contribute updated skills and your sketching pack to my maun craft hobbies. Like making more homemade stickers, images for cards, custom gift paper\bags\tags. I want to consider college personal interest classes to go back and do this. It has been, gosh, over 20 or 23 years since i did the art fundamentals course i took to go qualify to take graphic design. Never graduated graphic design and my calling is more crafts. But id live to still upgrade my basic skills.

Hey Jazza, I used to watch your videos a bunch when I was younger and i'm finally getting back into your new vids after being busy for so many years. I loved your series when you were playing Passpartout, and I wanted to request that you play the second game coming out april 4th 2023 Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist. It was so much fun watching you complete the first game and would love to see more when this new one comes out.
Its super disappointing that the character design videos don't do well. They're my favorite type of video after some of the initial tutorials you did in the early years.
I just got my pro sketch kit, I am so excited everything in the box was way better then I imagined it. If you sell anymore art boxes Jazza I am definitely buying them.
speaking of loving the Rough Mr Jazza, it's really hard ey. i think it's tje excitement of getting to the result of what your brain is telling you. well me.. i think thats why i hate the rough.. it makes me give up

I also like to draw in the mornings before work and my art looks nicer sometimes
I love to see you and all the kids drawing. So lovely. ♥
The pro sketch pack is really good! This is the best!
Amazing artwork 10/10 😎💯
I just did this a few days ago. It was nice to see my progress over the years.
I love the cthulhu and the balrog.
I got the prosketchpack a few days ago and it is really good quality and well thought out. It got everything you need and so many new things to try out. I had little motivation before I got the sketchpack but now I am ready to get back into drawing again. Thank you Jazza! Love your videos and Insert art. Great work!
Do you know what the premium case that comes along with it is made of? Just wondering if you think it's leather?
You are my fav RUclipsr!! ❤
I just got back in to watching u u are my childhood your the reason why i draw
I recently found my first sketchbook from when I was 12. It is both funny and impressive at the same time. I’m so glad I found it
Damn it, Jazza! First the digital brushes, now the sketch pack! Taken my f'n money!💸
Love your transparency Jazza just as much as your artwork and videos!
Please bring back Challenge of the Month and design competitions they were always so fun to do!
Here's a couple,
The Steel Inquisitors from Mistborn series:
-the ultimate fighting machine
-black-robed
-tall man with a strong build
-a thick metal spike had been pounded tip-first through each
of the man’s eyes. With shafts as wide as an eye socket, the nail-like spikes
were long enough that their sharp points jutted out about an inch from the
back of the man’s clean-shaven skull. The flat spike ends shone like two
silvery disks, sticking out of the sockets in the front, where the eyes should
have been.
-intricate eye tattoos-mostly black, with one stark red
line-that marked him as a high-ranking member of the Canton of
Inquisition
The Chasmfiends from the Stormlight Archive
-crustaceans monsters, carapace is dark violet and extremely durable
-largest known land animals on the planet Roshar
-at least twenty feet wide, six times the height of an adult man at their peak
-long and narrow, with a flattened, split tail reminescent of that of a crayfish
-eighteen legs
-head is triangular, narrowing down to a point like an arrowhead
-circular mouth, surrounded by several rings of teeth
-eyes set above the jaw, glassy and gree
-nostrils are located at the very end of the maw, while the ears are bare holes slightly behind the eyes
Love it! Could we see a video of what art books have inspired your other artists as well?
I’ve been getting into this channel again the last two weeks, and I’m glad I did! Really enjoy the videos and I got reeaaalllyyyy tempted to get the sketch pack and as it’s just been my birthday I figured I’d treat myself. So I’m looking forward to it arriving!
Sell the spiral book separately please! It is lovely for mixed media. The box is well designed. Just wish I could buy a 2nd spiral book!!!
I wasn’t going to buy one originally, but my friend convinced me. And now I'm eagerly awaiting for it to get here.
You have to get through the rough , to get to the polish ! And if you find your own way to enjoy the rough, you can enjoy the whole process !
Thank you
These are my favorite type of art themed videos just so good to see others work, ideas and creativity highly enjoyed this video❤
I loved your mr. beast video!!! The process and your excitement was contagious! Don’t let that RUclips gods get you out of sorts Jazza!!
Hi Jazza just letting you know I’ve been watching your videos for a while and you’re one of my favorite artists on RUclips and just wanted to say thank you so much for you and your art
I’m confused but ok? Otherwise I love your art and thank you for everything you do
Have you ever read matthew Reilly's book 'contest' i think you would VERY much enjoy drawing from the discrptions he gives in that book.
And because there is not a movie or anything on them you cant be sawyed in how you draw them!
Daaamn voldy ,luigi and dracula looking awesome!
man its been awhile since watching your amazing videos, you were my escape during 2020
OH MY GOSH YES SKETCHBOOK TOURRRR ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Those monster drawing prompts give me major Bloodthirster or Lord of Change vibes.
Brilliant sketchbook. Great illustrations.
This Monster character sounds like fun to draw and design!
Your Balrog is awesome
I feel so happy to have been able to get the pro sketch pack! It is definitely worth every penny
I just got my pro sketch kit, I am so excited everything in the box was way better then I imagined it. If you sell anymore art boxes Jazza I am definitely buying them.
Do you know what the premium case that comes along with it is made of? Just wondering if you think it's leather?
@@casper4686 it is fake leather, it feels real nice and it looks better then on the videos.
@@ts.54 Thank you very much, have a great day :)
monster design would be a cool new addition to your app!!!
Love seeing other artists' sketchbooks. Soooo inspiring=3
Such a lovely collection
This was a reminder that I should probably pick up my sketchbook again
Just got my Pro Sketch Pack today!!! I am so excited!!!
speaking of loving the Rough Mr Jazza, it's really hard ey. i think it's tje excitement of getting to the result of what your brain is telling you. well me.. i think thats why i hate the rough.. it makes me give up
I was kinda hoping you would go thru your beginner sketch books again so I can get an idea of what is to come.
Really hope that we can get more sketch related videos!
I just ordered it can’t wait
Been a fan for years (like back when you did the mural at the original studio you filmed in) and you never seem to surprise me with how amazing your art is.
You were one of the people that kept me pursuing art all the way into college, I’m studying for a BFA in Art Therapy.
Okay... I know "You have to go through the rough to get to the polish" was played off as a joke, but honestly I find that really inspirational. I'm writing it down in my journal. :)
The turtle meme at 3:36😂loved this video Jazza!
I don’t draw or sketch or do any art at all, I’ve just been here along for the ride for almost 2 years now, just living as an artist thru Jazza, that’s all.
Been so long since last time we had an art challenge. It’ll be interesting to give this one a go
