I found your video's last night. I pulled my dash out to replace my heater core today. The heater core is in and the box is re-installed, I will put the dash and seats back in tomorrow (removed them for convenience and room. ) I wanted to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! This really helped me tackle the job correctly, and you pointed out bolts that I know would have really frustrated me (the one above the brake pedal that you remove from below. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
Excellent step by step video👍🏿 Just did this with my son on the right side and me on the left- on my pristine 01 Grand Cherokee(4.0) Leaking evap core but new heater core while we were in this deep. Took us 8 hours but could do my next one in 3-4 hours-hahaha Thank you!

I think this was a terrible design. Having to take the entire dashboard assembly off is terrible. Thanks for the instructions.
@THISISITTISISIHT No, not at all. To remove the stereo head-unit, you just need to remove the trim fascia around the stereo (I believe it just pries out), and then you'll see the four screws holding the head-unit in. Then it's just unplugging the back and installing the new unit.
@shockracer Without trying to videotape it, I would say it takes about two hours to get everything off, and an hour to get everything back on. Add in whatever time it's going to take to replace the parts in the dash that you need to do. I'd recommend doing the heater-core, A/C evaporator and blend-doors all at the same time, even if they haven't failed yet, at they will, and you'll double your labor-time doing the job all over again. And it's mainly just picky, time-consuming work.
@iheartmyrappy My Grand Cherokee is a 2002 model. The navigation system is a factory RB1 nav unit that I installed, but it is not touchscreen; you navigate the screens through either a knob and pair of buttons on the unit, or using the steering-wheel controls.
@bmxican7140 That just involves removing the bezel around the stereo (I believe it pops off), and removing the screws holding in the unit and disconnecting the plugs on the back. Five minutes, vs. five hours.
The blower-resistor is at the very bottom of the housing, under the passenger-side dashboard. You do not need to go through the glovebox. In fact, it is rather vulnerable, as a passenger with long legs could kick the wiring-connector on that resistor, accelerating its failure. It's held to the bottom of the box by two screws, and the connector should come off once you depress the locking tab (if it hasn't already melted into the resistor housing cover).
Thanks for the great descriptions (and for the great filming job by your daughters). Does the steering wheel just relax back onto the drivers seat for the rest of this?
bbsbcv with the blend door being bad with the fan still work because I have a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee and I ran the diagnostics and it came up right blend door but my fan doesn't work either. I'm confused and would like your help
I am completely stuck on pressing the latch inside of the dash on the passenger side, where the glove compartment is. None of the videos on youtube show the exact piece that needs to be pushed down with the crowbar!!! Please help.

I was gonna open my dash to run some RCA cables, but after watching this, I'm convinced to just get creative.

Oh God this happened to me and after I removed the resistor my battery has since started draining

Why is there a rope attached to the handle of his drill motor? Either its for easy retrieval if dropped or this was recorded in the 50s!
