Ran Out Of Light Searching For The Abandoned Train Car - Unbelievable Washouts!

- Опубликовано: 13 фев 2020
- This video was partially made by both viewer suggestion and my own curiosity. There's lots of trails, ruins and abandoned sections of rails out there, many of which I've never explored. So in this video we walk the rails of another abandoned section of tracks. More importantly, a viewer emailed me last summer with reports of an overturned derailed train car from the 1950s. So come along with me as we venture into the night time to see what we find on our travels. Enjoy

Please Note: Exploring Abandoned locations can be dangerous. I don't condone or encourage anyone to enter an Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal and when possible, i seek out permission. I simply go to document its history before it's gone and leave things the way I find them. I assume all the risks & responsibility in doing so. Please don't attempt to do this on your own.

Unfortunately we didn't find our target, but this was an incredible journey. With that said, if you'd like me to return before the summer to continue searching, comment below.
Really is pretty crazy what you might see taking some old trails!

Absolutely Jay :)

Really enjoyed this walk along the old rails ...still lots to see . The rails suspended in mid-air ..wow ..that is quite a wash-out ! Thank you for taking us along ......glad Mike was with you .
Was very impressive
Pretty awesome guys..I like following old abandoned train tracks just to see where they go when I can
I love your videos, J! Been watching for about a year now. Keep up the great work!!
i couldnt help but think of that scene in Stand By Me when you were crossing the train tracks bridge.
Same here
And me....first thing I thought of..lol..that scene freaks me out every time I watch that great film. Thanks, Stephen King..lol...
Traaaaain!!
I’m so proud of you two and the train trestle!! Little to no hesitation 👍🏼👍🏼. Thanks for the hike and glad you made it back to your car!!
When I was in high school "spot the looney" was written all over Dunmore. My 42 yr old son & I are watching the replay. He & his friends spent so much time right where you are. Like riding their quads over the trestle. Great video!
Beautiful area to waste a few hrs

This was great. I love trying to trace out/track down old abandoned rail lines and their infrastructure! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure
I don't personally like when you add music to videos though just my opinion i really like hearing the actual sounds like if i was there with you in person
I enjoy both types, but ill definitely continue to make more like this. Thanks for the input.
Great job. Enjoy see the abandoned tracks
Awesome, JP. I love going on adventures with you.
😊
Hey thanks for the Journey with you guys it was great to see all the history we have in our own backyards
Nice video JP I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.👍
Awesome video with some great finds! Loved it 👍🏻 Definitely make a return trip
That train tressel brought back memories of my youth in lock Port NY. There's a big one there thanks for sharing! ✌️💨
Thank you for the share JP! 😄 Love the adventure! 😊
My pleasure angela
WOW!!! That big washout is really cool. You find some really great abandoned things.
Incredible how the rails are floating there.
I love history on railroads. I watched the whole video just because of the tracks still there and covered along with that high trestle
Thanks for watching
JP....Dude.....You can't pan that camera on the trestle..You had my stomach turning in my living room...Love the video...I drive past that area everyday to work..81 to 84....Spent my youth in WB walking atv trails along the tracks just like that. Never liked crossing those trestles either...even until this day...Riding our BMX's across them was even scarier!!!!! Thank you for all you do!!!
How do you think i felt? Haha
Awesome pretty video. You guys make me nervous in the dark! 😬 Really enjoyed it!
😁
Finally just got to see this, gorgeous scenery love the track pics and YES please go back in warmer weather!
Will be back sooner than later
Watching you crossing that tressle was giving me the “heebee geebees” how. Brave are you. Great day out you guys, keep it going. Kind regards
👍
the big car is a lincoln a 73....and the smaller car looks like a AMC hornet
Good Morning. I watched half live and had to sleep. Started my day watching the rest. Was concerned with losing the light but thoroughly enjoyed the video. A wonderful walk at a lesser pace 😊😊 Was great to see you both safely in the car. Many thanks 🌹💟💟🌹
Thanks anne

That wasn't a failure, it looked like a fun adventure. I love that whole area, following abandoned train tracks is always interesting. You would think I would wait till the end and leave all my comments in 1 message, but apparently not, lol
Lol. You should join us next time.
@@JPVideos81 absolutely, Im in
Man....I don't like heights either. I could honestly feel my heart speeding as you walked across! You are definitely braver than me!
👍
I enjoyed watching it.Thanks JP
Awesome video JP
Wow it is such a scenic area there!! You are very brave JP! I walked a tressel not knowing what it was, years ago on my route walking to high school, I was scared yet intrigued every time I did it, and it was so freaky when there were icebergs floating that touched the bottom of the bridge, which is what lead me to follow the train tracks in order to cross before they got to that part of the river! Still a vivid memory. I enjoy your videos whichever way you do them, feels like I am right there!!
Thanks for watching and enjoying them.
As usual I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Getting out in nature is always a reward in itself. I was very much interested in the abandoned cars, the hanging rails in midair intrigued me, the "rock drainage tunnel" under the tract bed gave me the "willies". Finding the assumed water reserve so that the engines can get resupplied with water to me was the highlight of the trek today. Like you, I would still like you to find that boxcar but maybe a little bit more research to find if it's really there. Anyway I enjoy your outings and keep up the good work, till then, bye for now.
I have new info and will be returning
Awesome explore, thanks for sharing, great scenery as well! Old rail lines are always interesting, you'll never know what you will find!
Thanks
Thanks for the tour. Great video beautiful environment wouldn't mind visiting myself
Another good video, could not cross that bridge though, looking forward to a another video soon. Thanks for taking us with you.
My pleasure
Awesome video thanks for sharing. Your videos are really high quality and really awesome. Not like alot of other youtuber.. thanks again
Thanks so much
As always, another fun video, fresh air, beautiful scenery. Nice job Jay & Mike.
At--37:45-- if you listen closely when you point the camera upward you can hear a "woo-ing sound",(37:47) did the phone make that sound or maybe an owl?
You can use clean moss (Moss rinse off dirt) to cover wounds, they did that in WW1.
I would take some moss, mix in a cup of buttermilk, mix in a blender and pour it over the bricks I would put down all around the outside of my garden. You mix alittle fertiliser & water and put over the moss every 2 weeks. The moss keeps nasty bugs away and slugs out of your garden.
You can also filter some water for a canteen by running the water over clean moss a few times. (Also better to also boil the water but if can't just for a canteen it should be fine. We did it in the Army) DO NOT EAT MOSS, THAT IS A NO, NO.
When collecting moss just take little patches so the moss in the wild can cont. to grow.👍👻
I dont take it, just love to admire it.
@@JPVideos81 The fireworks and all was fantastic ! Thanks for taking us along with videoing it so we could see it too.
Oh ...I know you don't take it. I just said it that way if someone wanted to do the garden thing.
Definite thumbs up from me on this video and future trips to do the same. Obvious you are attempting to keep things fresh and interesting. Kudos to you and your family & friends.
Love the video JP, so much nice stuff to look at. Those tracks so close to the cliffs, makes me wonder how they got a heavy train to run on that. And the old cars, been their for years, i love the old abandoned rail roads.
Seems like it eroded away over the years.
@@JPVideos81 might have been taken away, but just seeing the old tracks. And all that other cool stuff was really great, definitely make more videos lime this one. 👍👍
The bigger car appeared to be a 1970 Lincoln Continental, Really couldn't see anything noticeable on the other one! Love getting to see or explore new places, not being able to get that far away from home atm!
I thought the smaller looked like a Chevy Nova...1975 maybe due to the bumperettes
You gave ME vertigo again! My heart was beating when you were on that trestle. Some of those ties you were walking on seemed a little rotted...
Imagine being on it in person
this video is your best so far i think! thank you! the outdoors!
Thanks sandy
JPVideos I’m watching u right now, Abandoned coal mining remains
Thanks, JP! I always enjoy the genuineness of your videos. Real life is an uncertain thing, & 'perfect' results every time are bound to be rigged! 🦋 Chaos is everywhere.
😊💙
I love this raw video!! Please do more....
Glad you stay safe and explore in pairs 💙💙💙💙💙💙
Glad you enjoyed it
i rally liked that big long gap on the tracks you did a great job filming it thanks
👍
So sorry you got duped👎. You certainly are a brave man for crossing that old tressel. Thanks for your bravery so we could see what you were seeing. Love the first pic you took of the water👍👍thanks for sharing Jay!!🤗
Will be returning to continue the hunt
So proud of you to cross that bridge, great courage.
When you were walking over the high trestle, look to your left. The mountain across 380 back in Elmhurst is all woods with old tracks, train beds and an abandoned tunnel through a small part of a mountain. Some interesting stuff up there too.
On the other side of 380 by 435?
Whether you reached you destination or not you yourself make interesting videos. Your camera work and monologue is what keeps me from turning away from your videos. Thank you again for another interesting and entertaining video.
Thanks john. Glad you enjoy the content.
Can't wait!
What a great background with the ice sickles hanging from the stone cliffs i could not do that BECAUSE i am a little scared of heights ... love the PICTURE of mother nature carpet.. that looks like the earth underneath the tracks washed away from flooding ..or a gully washer i love your videos there Jp
You're very brave Jay, thank you for exploring here. The chainsaw freaked me out Lol 😂👍
Haha
OMG yes!! me too.... creepy.....
Me too I would've been scared to move
Really liked this video so GREAT !! Really cool , loved the train going by !! Loved the ice sickles on the rocks . BIG thumbs way up ! 👍odd little concrete and wood thing in the woods there . YES ......I remember this train bridge !! And you walking on it !! Such a pretty view wow what a amazing place !! The tree's are really closing in on the end of the bridge . so many stone walls there , those ties are so cool !! Crazy little tunnel below the tracks ! Thats a huge washout !! So cool rails in midair !! Crazy how the little tree's always seem to grow right up along the rails not in the middle. Really liked every minute of the video train car or not GREAT video!! You did alot of walking thank you for taking me along BIG thumbs up 👍👍👍!! Keep up the awesome work !!
Thanks for checking it out. Will be returning to continue the hunt.
Watched Mikes video on this. I'll give you a thumbs up to. You guys were determined. Love it.
Totally cool washout man!!!!!
Glad you managed to cross the trestle again, I hate heights so I know how you feel. Enjoyed the video hope you do some more .
Gets a bit easier each time
I enjoyed the video love to see more 😊❤😊❤
💙
You know its going to be a great day when its starts of with a JP video. Your so brave to cross that bridge. I thought the chain saw was a train at first (lol) freaked me out. Beautiful scenery. ❤
Haha. Safe and sound back home
Still interesting thanks, more than I would have seen without you
Central California watching
just got home from work in time for your new video
I like the comment "protection" I do the same in my photography travels. Great video!
Never forget to say,"Come along with me". it's your trademark. I love it, It's my favorite thing. Believe in your SPARK. You could have gone up many times. I loved the one where you flew over the abandoned tower structure with the spark. I have the "AIR" and I make youtube videos and I love the outcome.
Thanks barry
Awesome video liked Valentine's day ♥ evening 😃😀
Nice explore, nothing like bushwhacking in the woods 👍
This was very interesting-seems there is a lot more to explore. That abandoned 50' boxcar is the other way down the tracks. It is about 700 feet southwest of the 380/84 junction with 435. If it is still there, that is.
Last adventure crossing the bridge we went to the left and someone messaged me telling me it was the other direction. Im determined to find it. Can it be seen from the railbed?
If possible, can you google maps the approximate location and email a screen shot of it to me?
@@JPVideos81 Using Google earth and the timeline, I found the location: 41°23'52.62"N 75°35'24.47"W
I googled the coordinates & I'll could send a screenshot of the area if you want.
Jay, I sent you an email with an attached map that shows the location of the bridge that you crossed and the location of that boxcar. I see that Mark DePrimo gave you the correct coordinates. Good job, Mark!
In the first photo of the cars, The one is a Lincoln town car. The front fenders in the picture give it away. Great cars.
The Mob liked those Lincoln Town Car models... large trunk with plenty of room for 2 bodies... :-)
LOL so true! I loved them also. Great cars. I owned 2 of them back in the early 90's. I miss them.
Totally Awesome Video! What a beautiful walk. Always love the adventure of what you find along the way. Train rails just suspended there very cool. Proud of you for walking trestle again! Glad you & Mike were together for safety. Very interesting & loved that stocking cap! :)
Thanks Marty. Cant pass up a blue hat.
i loved the train tressle, tracks in mid air and the concrete circular building you had a lot of cool finds unfortunately you were unable to find the derailed car maybe next time press on thanks for taking me along
I will be on the hunt again for it.
Interesting hike, Thank You.
You seem to have such fun adventures. I wish we had stuff like this in Florida. It's far and few in between.

@@markvick3984 most are gone :(. I got to explore the Howie mansion before it was bought out
I thoroughly enjoy your videos
Aww thank you
Sweet explore! That trestle freaks me out! That looked like a jeep on the trail down there.
That wall with the tunnel is interesting.
Those cars are awesome...out in the middle of nowhere :-) Those washouts are incredible! A big chunk of earth just gone. I think that concrete circle thing held a water tank too.
Was an awesome adventure you two! Great job!
You should come see this area for yourself.
@@JPVideos81 I need to :-) But that trestle, lol. And that other one that you and Cliff checked out isn't too far from here?
@@RusticVentures its just outside of scranton.
greetings all the way from Vancouver,B.C. Canada!
What a magnificent scenery
That circular structure may have been part of a service area for steam locomotives. There is one right along Route 103 south of Lewistown PA I passed many times before I realized what it was. It's at 40.513703,-77.655842.
There is also a similar one at Jim Thorpe where the CNJ turntable is.
Thats pretty much what was said in the video. This is the second of two back along this abandoned line.
I’ve got my reminder on I’ll see you at 9 PM 😁
Now that just looks cool!!
Crazy washout areas
Was that the same bridge as in Stand by Me?!! Interesting for me to see part of the States that I don't know - thanx. Gill🇬🇧
Looks close to it
Gill Wyatt The bridge in the movie Stand By Me is clear over on the west coast. It was part of the McCloud River Railroad and is between the Town of McCloud CA. and goes over Lake Britton. The track had been removed but the bridge still stands. Google Map McCloud and follow the right of way and you'll find the bridge. Good luck.
Really enjoyed that. Guess you need to go earlier next time. Got rather worried when darkness came
After you crossed the trestle, it looks like you made a right-hand turn at the jct and headed back toward Scranton. At that jct., had you continued straight, or south toward the Elmhurst area, you'd have found your rail car. It looks like a 50-foot boxcar, and it's on its side - it's just laying there in a small clearing. It was visible on Google Earth may years ago, but I can't see it now. I actually drove my GMC 4x4 down to it on a really overgrown, narrow access road (path) from Elmhurst Blvd., but that was about 20 years ago. Can't do that today.
I received the wrong info. I now have it pinned on maps and we will be returning.
Awesome content as always. I went up that way this past summer on the atvs. The tracks you were following behind the junkyard will eventually come out behind the Salvation Army store by the River St exit off 81. If you follow the tracks further south you’ll go through Montage and after crossing a road (whichever the one is that the shoppes at montage are on) you’ll end up at Rocky Glen.
Correct. I did a video on the tracks from montage to rocky glen and have one coming out by the section of tracks below #5 dam reservoir.
JPVideos I’ll be watching out for it. 👍🏻
@@MikeG104 check my railroad playlist to find the videos easier.

what was that noise about 24 minutes in just as you said you had protection?
