I've owned one for about 3 years now. It never leaves my wrist, even in ocean surf! Weakest point is the aluminum bezel insert. Will pick up scratches if not extremely careful. Had to replace mine for $40 or so, DIY. Even though bezel insert was scratched it had no scratches on the crystal. As far as the bezel being "hard to turn" I say, "How often are you going to turn the bezel?" and also, "get stronger finger". I love that it stays put and does not move out of position as watches with easier-to-turn bezels sometimes do. After I regulated the watch after a couple of weeks use it gains about a minute per month on my active wrist. Then when I put it away for awhile (on the watch winder) to wear my other watches, it loses that minute per month back, so it is always in almost perfect time. The stock bracelet is high quality, finely finished, and sturdily built. Very thick bracelet. I don't see how you could upgrade it to any significant degree, unless you want to wear the watch while you pound large boulders into smaller boulders, or arm wrestle a lot. Thanks for the video.

My Seikos with the 7S36 movement live up to the 40 hour reserve. I think it all has to depend on what type of work you do and what type of lifestyle you have. The power reserve on my Seikos do vary depending on how active I am.
Also as for the Seiko Epson thing. Seiko and Orient aren't parent companies at all. If they were then Seiko wouldn't allow Orient to produce their own movements and they wouldn't allot the Ray 2 and Mako 2 to complete with the SKX and lower end Seiko watches. Orient is still separately managed by Epson which is why newer Orient watches say Epson on them and not Seiko/Epson.

it's just a technique thing with the bezel, you push slightly as you twist, it's fine.... or buy an aftermarket coin edge - but once you go down that modding road, well $$$$$$, but it's fun

How long does ilumination last in the dark?
If you would have to pick between this or the Phoibos Wavemaster, which one would you choose? I know they are too different but, i can't decide between this or the black phoibos wave master. Thanks. By the way, great video!
Luis Miguel Méndez González hard choice my friend, the bezel action on the phoibos is better than the orient which can be annoying especially on a diver, both movements have about the same accuracy after break in period, whatever style you like i woukd sway that way

The Mako ii is currently $135. Very tempted to splurge on that. Seems unbeatable at the price point. I just with they would spend like 2 bucks extra to make the end links solid end links. The bracelet has solid links now just give the solid end links.

Blurry Face they need to also fix the tiny crown, the hard-to-turn bezel, get rid of that ugly red tip on seconds hand, use lume that appears white under normal light, redo the bracelet to taper, redesign the lugs to have better, more distinct finishing with more angularity, get rid of that terrible day/date field, especially since it's white background, make the movement more accurate, make the bezel taller and thicker, like on the submariner, use a basic bracelet without the polished bits, get rid of "water resist" on the dial, get rid of the ugly logo on the dial, use an embossed caseback instead of cheap laser etching, make crown guards slightly bigger, make lugs slightly thicker, make bezel out of metal instead of plastic, use sapphire crystal, and make the dial glossy black instead of matte black. Then it would be a good watch.

Other watch reviewers have solved the problem of a tight bezel with a modest application of watch oil under the bezel.

Paid $108 US covid peso dollars for mine from Joma shop on ebay new with tags has the rubber strap. Plan to buy a stainless mesh strap for it. Any recommendations for a good quality budget shark mesh bracelet?

I know this is an old video, but how did you get it down to +5 spd? Mine, after a week of owning, is right around +30spd and I dont know what my options are as its my first automatic ever.
yeah they stay at +5 for like a week then like +20 lol,
its fine - this isnt a regulated movement..its a $150 watch its well within specs

The bezel works fine on mine, the only drawback is the crown.

Pep Rex that sucks. It is pretty much the watch I have my eye on. It will be my first automatic watch. Seems like a lot of watch for the price and brings pretty much all the features that I want anyway. Looks really nice as well. I also have kind of falling for the Triton. But, the black Ray II is awesome overall, great looking.

Philipp Ler sorry I’m late but yes mako 2 USA is available. I bought direct from orient USA $350 (black face). It’s amazing with the super oyster strap code bracelet. I wear it more than my no date submariner. I will say this... Rolex needs to step their game up. This orient brand is really underrated. It might be a shitter brand but wow they make great watches

I own both Ray 2 and SKX.
And I love the SKX so much more. Its hard to explain why. There is nothing special about Ray despite it being best bang for buck.
