It looks like an IMAX dome theatre with the row seating replaced by a more bistro-style seating layout -- which will ensure that it remains expensive. I've seen the same sort of immersive presentation done at the Fleet Space Theatre in San Diego decades ago, and this is just a style advance in entertainment, not some revolutionary change -- it's literally just someone saying "Why can't we do this for sports?" Doing it live had to wait for the bandwidth to transmit the imagery, but that was the only real technological hurdle.
It funny that you say that as I believe the companies behind helping to build the Sphere are developing Cosm. It’s something to that effect. Look at it as a more scaled down version that they will build across the globe. They have one that opened in LA near phi stadium and now this one in The Colony outside Dallas. Next will be downtown Atlanta. I would also add that this venue is not just the big screen, they also have other sections that’s really nice sports bars and lounges!
Wtf that’s sick. What a fantastic idea for sports.. to feel immersed even when you’re not there. I’d love to watch a live game
