To patch the hole in the front near Kharkov, the Kiev junta is making holes in two equally hot hotspots, Chasov Yar and Ugledar, and what is much more important, the Kiev junta "spent" units that had in the depth of the territory! That the Wests wunderwaffen will finally deliver a game changer. That the West may intervene militarily (there's a reason why they attack Russian cities, to provoke the Russians into doing something that will bring in NATO). That they can inflict so many casualties on the Russians the Russians will rebel against Putin. There's probably intense hatred for the Russians too and if not a belief in victory a desire for revenge. And probably fear of the Ukrainian secret police and Neo-Yahtzee thugs.

Morning dudes. Fox News earlier made an interesting point regarding the Ruskies Kharkiv offensive - namely that the Ruskies have so far only deployed a relatively small force - maybe 5,000 men, meaning they have tens of thousands of troops just in this sector alone available for bigger things. Seems to me dudes that this limited Ruskie attack has two purposes - firstly to establish a buffer zone and secondly to force the Ukies to weaken their other fronts by sending "competent" troops to the Kharkiv region. Clearly both objectives are being fully met at low cost to the Ruskies. But the big question is - seeing how stretched and short of reserves the Ukies currently are - what will the Ukies do (what can they do?) when the Ruskies launch an even bigger assault maybe in the Sumo region?
By the way guys Fox also mentioned that Brit warmonger Boris Johnson's former top aide only this week described Ukraine as a "corrupt mafia state" - sure got that right.

    Word History of Attrition
The earliest meaning of the English attrition related to spiritual repentance was borrowed from the figurative meaning of the medieval Latin etymon attritio: "hardship, tribulation." This figurative meaning stemmed from the earlier uses of attritio that refer to bruising or wearing away by rubbing-two processes that, when applied to the body, can feel like tribulation. One obsolete and early use of the English attrition referred to the breaking or crushing of tissue, and was used in medical contexts.
The newer senses of attrition are little more than a century old. The common phrase war of attrition refers to a sustained effort to steadily wear down the defenses of an opponent, with the result that they are rendered weaker and less effective. From this sense comes the still-later meaning that refers to a reduction in numbers by a gradual and natural "wearing down" of an organization's ranks through death, retirement, or resignation.

They don't have the air defense capabilities. After giving most of it their interceptor missiles away to Israel and the Ukraine, it has put their own stockpiles in serious jeopardy. The only thing they would have is planes. But that would be a large escalation.

He' and his circle have been aiming to (morally and politically) blackmail the West into offering steady support for two long years now. Reznikov was quite vocal about that: "Were fighting for ALL of you, and if we fall, then you're all next in line, you HAVE to line up behind us!" - that was his baseline pitch.

@@NPSpaceZZZ Yes, to some extent, Kiev is exploiting how badly the US wants them as a chip against Russia - but Elensky's brash chutzpah tactics vs Europe ("give us all we want or you're next in line") would have got him nowhere if it hadn't been because everybody knows that UA are the favourite boys of Washington..
Also, Kiev has been trying to use this war to gatecrash their way to full membership of NATO and the EU. They are damn near telling Europe "YOU LOVE US - so you have to give us a seat!" , like some entitled rock stars. 😁😁

Not really. It's actually very slow. But I'm told it's Russia "going at its own pace".
Except they truly need to control everything east of the Dniepr + Kherson and Odessa by the end of this year if they truly hope to force an end to this war on their terms (and even then, not absolutely sure they would get it, but it would be highly probable under such circumstances, that or the europeans would make good on their words and participate directly to the fighting...).
