I've been binge watching you for weeks now and you have taught me a most valuable lesson in art... art is enjoying the process, to love the simple act of playing and to not fear making a bad piece of art. It's about ME loving what I create, to quit taking myself so seriously and to just paint for the love of painting. And I've embraced the joy you show and the result is that I'm not afraid anymore and best of all, my art has drastically improved, I love experimenting all the time now and it's showing in the fact my art shows life and energy now.. I can't thank you enough that your passion of what you do has totally changed my art journey! My art shows passion and joy instead of being rather dead looking.

A few years ago I had major major art burn out and got super anxious about painting and art making in general. It's haunted me for a long time now and I feel like I've been wasting my time. I happened to stumble onto your channel somehow and ever since painting has just been on my mind 24/7 again and I've started to get back into the swing of things. You've been such an amazing wake up call, and a great reminder to just have fun and create for myself rather than worrying over the whos whats and whys. So thank you so much for reminding me that yes, I am an artist damn it, and yes, I love to paint.

Imagine how happy I was to see a yet unviewed YT of yours pop up in my feed - AFTER I had been watching someone else earlier who referred to something her friend had painted as like Sandi Hester! LOL! How fun was that! I love your con-cer-ti-na walk book! I love that fold and cut format! When I open one up completely after filling with watercolors, it is such a delight! I have a ream of 17" x 11" cardstock that I'm going to get out and make one from. I've done them small, but my favorite is from a full sheet of good watercolor paper - 22"x30", which makes a wonderful size to paint on. I loved seeing how your space was arranged, too. I had forgotten that you had that cupboard on that wall by the doorway! Enjoy!

Might I suggest a trick I’ve used with pen and ink. I take inexpensive sponges and cut a hole through them that fits my ink bottles. The sponge gives the bottle stability so they don’t knock over and you can sit your pen or brush on the sponge. I have a dozen of these sitting around so I can have several bottles open and not worry about knocking them over. When I’m done I pull out my bottles and stack the sponges.

@@sandihester No hair dryer in your arsenal of tools? I really like how crap paper can actually hold up to a ton of abuse if you DON'T RUB ;) Even if you do, it can be fixed well enough. Rips and tears are much harder to fix tho. My poor $ Store brushes and sketchbooks go through so much, but so far no pages have detached themselves and fled, so that's good.

My daughter when she was in junior high was working on a school project…she needed some of my inks. I told her to be careful coming down stairs with them because they were glass. Well she took forever and when she returned to me in the garage where the project was taking place she told me she dropped one and was cleaning it up. I went and looked. It was all over the wall. I got wall paint out, painted and turned the hairdryer off right when the hubby walked in from deer camp. He never knew it happened until years later. 🤣

If you want to lighten up the Acrylic Ink stain on your wood counter you can try Rubbing Alcohol. I use it to remove acrylic paint and Acetone will remove enamel paint but, you do need to neutralize it with Rubbing Alcohol so it doesn't damage the surface. Clean up can be done with a wet rag and a little soap. I love how creative and experimental you are in these videos. I have said it before, you are inspirational and motivate me to get into the studio and just play. ❤ Try it with just a small spot first if you decide to try it. Different surface react differently.

Thank you for another lovely video. I love that last abstract - mmm turned out so well.
For our old dog, we put down some quilty blankets and a dog bed so she doesn't have to lay down on the wood floors.
I wonder if Coopy would like that? He sounds like he's getting a bit stiff (like many of us are!!) x
The other thing that's great is carpet samples - very soft and padded. We get them at the thrift store too and she loves them!

It was interesting seeing how you used the inks to paint a landscape. I have some and so far I've only dropped them onto the paper and either sprayed them with water or moved them round with a brush for backgrounds in art journaling. I'm definitely going to try painting with them now! I also have the quin-what's-it-name magenta...it is intense!

I always wanted to see what acrylic inks look like out of the bottle so thanks. One little note I bought Windsor Newton water mixable oil paint.Since these paints are water soluble I tried mixing the oils with acrylics and it worked. So I'm just experimenting. Now that I saw your video I'm going to buy some acrylic inks and mix them with the Wn water oil paints and see what happens.

If not I think you might enjoy it as it is able to be mixed up to any degree of saturation and is rich and warm when in a deep hue. • @sandihester

I usually do gesso it first because I like a better texture thank a primed canvas but you don’t have to gesso it. I use matte medium for my “glue”

only recently found you here and so good watching you just let go...and after long days of stagnation with my ink paintings watching you drop inks on pages and let them be however they want reminded me how much I love doing that...and palette for that only slows the process of enjoyment doesn't it? Not sure if you tried but I love dr ph martins Bombay inks as they are mostly transparent and flow more like watercolour rather acrylic ones. Hugs from Poland
