It will be less durable, and slightly less good at splitting rounds of wood (because slightly less mass), which is what I presume the main purpose of an axe like that to be these days. But it would still work well enough and it is slightly lighter and therefore easier to carry around (for camping? pillaging?). It will sit in a corner and rust just as well like this which is all most axes do anyway. All and all I'd call it even.

Once you fit the head, if it's not down to the swell, just take it off and carve away untill you can fit it nicely so there's about 3 cm of wood in top of the axe head. Then put your wedge in and then your steel wedges.
Also be careful with powertools, the heat ruins the blade

A viking ax didn't have a handle like that you'll need to forge the eye bigger and make a friction handle

If you wanted to turn a tool axe into a Viking axe used for combat you need to remove a lot of the weight from the sides. It’s a crazy thick axe. Next time I would do that, make a better handle, and get a good wood char or leather wrap on the handle

So it's a lighter, weaker, vaguely-Viking axe head with a poorly-mounted modern handle.
The laser logo really brings the medieval.

Just remember, enemy skulls are much softer than tree trunks. I'd say this axe is good enough for what it's made.

I appreciate the time you put into giving it a new appearance and video making, but one thing the grain on the handle is wrong orientated, it can be a little bit dangerous using it like that

Not bad for a first attempt. Instead of "viking axe", you should probably call it a "bearded hand axe", as it's more accurate.

Just a quick warning if you are going to have a go at this: it will take you days of grinding, filing and honing and you might spend a small fortune on dremels, dremel bits and grinding discs that you do not currently have. It will also be noisy and messy. But you live and learn. My advice to the novice is buy yourself a simple bench grinder and some abrasive wheels for peanuts and a few old chisels and see how you get on.
