Or they had conquered other Earths before and another factor why they so easily won the 7 hour war as they became more experienced in taking over races, especially humanity with each world they invade
I didn't realise the half-life/portal has so much vast lore to it. At the start the combine sounded so scary and unbeatable but.. Cave Johnson and his infinite copies sounds like they could give the combine a run for their money! Wow!
I'd like to think there was a version where there was a more successful Cave Johnson, who left aperture science and became one of those CEO's that end up going from one company to another. and as a result although the portal gun, moon rock panels, turrets, and shower curtains are canon, they ultimately got left behind as Cave went to different companies and made cold hard cash. putting his flair for testing things to companies all over. such as crash test cars, crash test airplanes, crash test submarines, crash test buildings.... and that as a result when the combine invade, the aperture tested tanks, airplanes and boats absolutely destroy the combine.
I have a little theory that the Combine is some alternate universe version of Aperture Science or Black Mesa that became so advanced and powerful that they began their own government, taking over their own universe before invading others (possibly millennia later, which gives them more than enough time to advance beyond many other civilizations and eventually take on a new name)
It makes sense! The large-scale portal tech, the semi-abstract architecture in test chambers, and desire to dominate. However the only problem is if they were aperture science, they would have known about the portal gun, which enabled local transport.

I like how the universe, where Cave Johnson explores the parallel multiverse, is a true good universe. He stops everything bad that could happen, like GLaDOS and the resonance cascade, because he has the knowledge from an infinite amount of parallel multiverses. But this makes me wonder if the Combine and Cave are exploring the same kind of multiverse. The Combine seem to be exploring and exploiting a multiverse with radically different set variables than Cave. While Cave discovers universes where Aperture and Earth exist, the Combine encounter entirely different species, planets and technologies. Maybe the Combine only understands themselves as multi-dimensional and multi-universal conquerors, but in reality they just teleport locally in their own universe to different galaxies, which are such a vast distance apart that they can't know in which universe or dimension they are, thus their mislabeling. I love how despite being completely incompetent, Aperture somehow manages to just be better than everyone. The multidimensional warlords are trying to solve their lack of teleportation technology? There's an Aperture part-time employee running around causing havoc with a portal gun. Aperture casually slings things across the multiverse with the single goal of scamming other Apertures while Black Mesa discovers another universe and accidentally causes a resonance cascade. Aperture had technology so far ahead of Black Mesa and was so irresponsible with it and yet in the end Black Mesa accidentally caused an alien invasion. And to make it even better, in the universe where Cave buys Black Mesa, he stops it.
All of this makes sense, except that you say it would take only a slight alteration to the “video games” universe for Valve to learn to count to 3. I’m afraid that would require huge changes to the laws of physics.
7 hours is actually rather impressive for a bunch of hairless apes with peashooters to hold out against an alien empire with potentially several universes worth of technology and expertise to call on.
makes you think, what if the CMB came across different earth's, like the L4D earth, or the TF2 earth, they'd probably want to weaponize stuff such as the green flu and australium
Given that the Vortiguants know the scientific name of the Advisors and have uses for headcrabs with ancient tales of both, I think its probably safe to say those 3 species are all from the same Universe. In addition i think it is likely Headcrabs and Vortiguants are the same planet explaining how Both got to Xen and how the combine uses both.

What’s crazy is I didn’t even know there was a bunch of story behind the half-life multi-verse so it kind of makes you wonder if Cave was literally running through all of these universes just for ideas . it makes me wonder did he ever really truly run into the combine and if so he either had to have somehow bumped into the G-man at some point to and I guess if he was able to hold them off for this long from our universe that I can only imagine how he would be half life’s equivalent of Rick Sanchez not only that but it makes you wonder about the possibilities of what valve cutter business they actually kept expanding the world I had the universe as half life also makes me wonder if cave Johnson also exist in the left for dead universe and if so was he responsible for that zombie outbreak

Some say it may not even be possible in the multiverse. We need to start looking.
One of universes where Gordon Freeman pay visit(in my mega-crossover) are one where GLADOS was Cave Johnson living his technological afterlife
Oh Jeez. Imagine if they weaponized the Zombies. That'd be awful.
The whole irony that Cave Johnson would scold Black Mesa for questionable experiments, given his own motto
Given that the Vortiguants know the scientific name of the Advisors and have uses for headcrabs with ancient tales of both, I think its probably safe to say those 3 species are all from the same Universe. In addition i think it is likely Headcrabs and Vortiguants are the same planet explaining how Both got to Xen and how the combine uses both.
so wait, the games of portal and portal 2 are covering MULTIPLE universes? wow
Yeah - the DLC's really went out there.
Nice one
Will you make any lore videos related to the HL1 Alpha?
Thanks! I actually hadn't thought about it. I may look into it though!
BTW will you also focus on Saint Olga and the Fisherman from Lost Coast?
19:35 A character voided by J.K. Simmons who's obsessed with the paranormal and is in cahoots with a powerful demon? Now where have I heard that before...
"Breaking news: Michigan man found a way to have infinite money"

Thank you for doing this video. Can i ask where did the information for the multiple portal universes come from as ive completed both portal ganes and all 3 halflife 2 games, alyx and opposing force. I cant believe i missed such a huge section of the lore and would love to find it out "in game". Thanks again, great video. Love this channel.
7:44 that the G-Man or his employers doing (nudging their experiments just enough so they discover Xen)
Not many people even know that Hλlf-Life is a Multiversal story. Hope this video will clear things out
the combine versus 100 scientists with mantis DNA:
LOL
I've always knew Aperture was Cooler!! (thanks for the new rabbit holes too-)
No problem!
Just realized portal and half-life is just a big game Into two parts🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Imagine you are living in the woods, going to sleep and after 7 hours the Earth is not the same and waking up of 9 hours of sleep and wtf is happening
That'd be the worst.
I think all the alien monsters coming through killing everything would be a more immediate concern for you.
I got into a car accident with this playing on the Bluetooth radio. Bet you’ve never heard this before
I hope you're okay!
@@Skyrionn I’m doing okay now! The accident was not my fault, but both cars are totaled. Quick visit to hospital and I was set out with a few scrapes and bruises
So, the multiverse is real in Half life?
Great, i cannot wait for the moment the Combine encounters the Glactic Empire. That shit would be legendary
I just realized something... what if the combine are from a universe, where Cave Johnson is their leader
25:00 Maybe someday we’ll find these two universes..
We can only hope
@@Skyrionn i am hoping a universe exists where half life 3 and portal 3 release
Am I the only person who thinks Cave Johnson sounds kinda like "Kang The Conquer" from the MCU? Versions of himself at war with the other versions of himself, with Cave Prime being like "He Who Remains" (Seen in Loki, He is a version of Kang).
Yesss! Just not as evil or intelligent. Wanda is Kang's true equal. She could take him out so easily. I wonder who the HL equivalent would be.
Skyrionn you're my favorite lore scrungly
I don't know what a scrungly is but I think its a compliment!
@@Skyrionn internet speak for little guy, love your content
I love binging your source game lore. Cheers.
gotta love me some lore and a video by skrionn!.. anyhow good video! can't really say anything since this IS canon lore so.. yeah already knew bout it but still watched it
A true Portal fan there. So many people haven't played to DLC and it was great to bring this to them!
I can't comprehend how did you manage to read out the nonsensical throwaway joke lore of Aperture Prime with a straight face (voice?). I am laughing out loud listening to this 🤣
I'm glad that they chose to have Ellen McLain do Caroline. I'm sure Greg would have been great too but I love her voice acting
I do love the Caroline and GLaDOS storyline. It fits perfectly well into the darker tones of Aperture.
I think all the vortigaunts escape because if they had vortigaunts working for them it would be a lot crazier
I'm sure aperture paranormal would be a fun game
I wanna see the demon inside of Cave's mouth.
Imagine discovering a headcrab on the street while walking to the shop and then realizing what this thing actually means for humanity😂
Amazing stuff as always
Glad you think so! I appreciate you.
Hey I've a question where did all this information about Aperature's exploration of the multiverse come from?
I like to think that every extension of the Valve games should be made in the next source engine, like half-life 3 made in source 2 and so on.
The big question is what would happen if the Aperature Science Perpetual Testing Initiative came in contact with the Combine Empire? I'd like to think that Aperature would be the one power that could have a fighting chance against the Combine.
The blapature mesa universe is just the universe where Cave had to think a bit more on his own.
If only the Nihilanth actually decided to become Allies with Humanity instead of destroy it.
Another masterpiece.
Thank you!
Wow, very well done! I really enjoyed this deep look into the story and lore of the Half Life and Portal stories.
I learned a lot of new things in my research for this episode. Even after all of these years, the games suprise me.
Maybe the Cave Johnsons, are the ones the ones we make along the way
What about the Alyph universe (from a Breen's voice line cut from Ep. 2)? Some speculate that it is either the Combine's 'prime' universe or even the 'Library' universe (from their cancelled game Prospero)
Can you make a video on non-canon Portal stuff like Virgil and AEGIS from Portal Stories: Mel?
I do have them as potentials on a list. I'll see if there's more information than we get in the games.
@@Skyrionn A.E.G.I.S Would be a cool idea for a video.
