I feel coleus are wonderful plants to get children interested in gardening. My grandmother gave me a coleus before the age of 10. The simple care, cutting the tops off and propagating them keeps their interest. Thank you for this nice informative video!
I love short informative videos! Coleus are my favorite plants, very easy to grow and care for. If you want seeds let one of your coleus plants go into flower, after the flowers die there will be tons of seeds in each pod!
I love love love this plant!!!💚 Pro-tip: When using any rooting hormone product, pour a small amount into a _separate_ clean container- NOT the lid or original packaging. This helps reduce the occurrence of disease cross-contamination. Small batches, clean tools and hands helps too.
I've been growing coleus for many years now. It's so pretty and attracts a lot of bees and pollinators in the garden too which is always helpful when growing fruit and vegetables.
Good morning Dr Saab today I bought ,6, verities of Coleus First time iam trying these plants so I gone through the episode to start my work on these plants Thank U sir for the guidelines of dos and don'ts on the plants God bless you and your family
We just saved aColeus that has been outside all summer and fall. It is inside now and Thank You for this video, It was direct and tio the point. I am educated now, thanks again.
I got "warlock" brilliant yellow & green. I've given cuttings out to all my friends and neighbors. Grows well in the south on patio. I don't have a green thumb, however I had no issues & were very hearty all spring & summer. Love this plant
Thank you, I've never heard so many useful tips in such a short video. I've never pinched one of my plants, I understand now why it doesn't look as good as the others. Thanks again!
I grew about three hundred of this year and am now making a lot of coleus bonsais! Ive found if you pinch the stalks crushing the membrane you can bend them to your will, (look up super cropping or monster cropping cannabis plants, same idea, not a lot of info on coleus bonsai) just dont pinch and bend too hard or they will break. I am getting some awesome trunk shapes, and some with some exposed roots that are looking really cool so far! I also have some braided ones as well that are looking great!
I have had zero luck with planting flowers of any kind. A few weeks ago I planted four coleus plants that were tiny. I planted them under my oak tree. I’m so happy to say they grew so fast and tall. I feel like an expert and all I did was stick them in the ground. Do you think they will live in the Florida sun? I’ve seen office buildings that have them in the sun and they’re beautiful. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try. I now want to get different colors. After watching your video I now know to pinch them back. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I found it very interesting and helpful. 😊
I always let one or two of the flowers dry out. Once they're brown I just crush them up in my hand and watch the hundreds and thousands of tiny seeds come out and I toss them into the soil.
I have a whole shade garden with an abundance of coleus. I call it nature's pallette. So many colors/combinations, such an easy plant. I love them thank you for all the tips. Appreciate you. 😍
Mine has been growing in direct sunlight and sitting in standing water but it seems to do just fine and I managed to root cuttings from it in less than a week in a terrarium with less potent light
I just bought my first pre-potted Coleus and after seeing all the different color varieties out there, I ordered 2 different sets of seeds online. Planted them today so we'll see what happens! Thanks for the tips in the video; very helpful!
i used to have some of these when i was younger and i wanted to have them again, so i bought coleus seeds, and they all germinated successfully and now ive got around 200 plants and don't know what to do with them :D
Some Coleus varieties are 'native' to my country.. Malaysia.. SERIOUSLY.. they really like the Full Tropical Climate.. HOT & WET all year long..direct sun light morning to evening.. sow them direct in the ground.. they will self seed & grow lush..
@@GardenTips the problem is there is only quarter inch stem attached.with the pinched top. So is putting in water(which I did) is better or should I still put in soil? There will hardly be anything able to go in the soil though.
I'm trying to figure out when is their time to flower? I started mine from seeds. Grew quickly and out grew it's pot so I moved to a larg pot. It has grown tall. I've not pinched it at all yet. No flower yet and it's October 5th.

I have been running around town and getting ever color coleus by snipping them and propagating them. It has been my summer hobby.
You aren’t saying you are stealing from others’ flower gardens are you? That would not be acceptable.
@@pamelaspooner7183 not from a true garden no. I would ask permission 1st. But random store fronts (not flower shops).... I plead the 5th

Hi i was wondering weather you can save the seeds from the flowers
@@jimbobsgardeningandfarming80yes you can
How do you that? You let the flower dry? Do you cut them in the stem and keep them? Or you wait for the flower to dry with the stem before you cut it?

Can v put vermi compost into coleus plant . I repotted with equal composition of soil ., Vermi compost n
Yes it’s very helpful. But it needs 20 to 30% of it in soil. 50% compost is useful for growing veggies and fruits.
I have the same problem 00:35 could you help me?

Thanks for this nice video. One question is if the pinched top with a tiny stem is put into water, will it grow and take roots?
Yes it grows easily if you insert in soil. Soft stems - soil whereas semi woody in water . Please watch ruclips.net/video/lLvgE6ouNBA/видео.html
@@GardenTips the problem is there is only quarter inch stem attached.with the pinched top.
