Zines are my favourite, I'm mainly a graphic designer and have loved creating zines and using it as a method to clarify my design and photography work. In my opinion hand made zines has a cirtain love to it which doesn't necessarily come across with blurb books.
Hi, I know it is an old video, I do hope all is well for you.. I subscribed and hit the bell.. Why?? Because I really enjoyed this video! Thanks I was wanting to make a zine at home, I like you hate the price and personally I like DIY stuff. I have made a photo book in the past, that was not cheap.. I have published many prints but I have always enjoyed zines, but never had a good grasp on the DIY side of it.. Until now!! SUPER thanks.. -- Best film back in the day ~ I once got 30 shots off a 24 exposure roll of Kodak; I thought it was odd that it had not auto rolled, so the last two frames was a crude selfie of my face and my buddy looking at the lens-(shot a selfie not-a--selfie) both looking into the camera.. It wasn't planed or expected but when we got the prints back.. Mind you this was off a roll of film for a mission. We didn't get to see them first. It was not until the debrief officer showed us the images.. I wish I still had that print, back then I had hair on top my head, lol.. Cheers! Again BIG THANKS!!!
great video, love it. thanks for making! I wonder how would you suggest to create a local community-based zine or ever a solo zine; using blurb or "crappy" printer? also what about publishing, sending to people... etc. you cents are appreciated! hello from tel-aviv ❤
I have basic printer and probably later I would like to upgrade my printer. I could pay for printing services but I would like to learn how to make a zine from scratch. You are right there aren't many videos showing you how to do it at home. Now photoshop is my way but it is time consuming. Is there any software out there that might offer a template of pages then you insert your photos and text?
probably inDesign has a template. There a few more but thery're not intuitive or difficult to use. Another idea is using lightroom to make the book and save the pdf and try to print by yourself.
Best to use a laser printer with decent 120 gsm paper, I get much better results than with my high end inkjets, and it's faster if you want to print a small batch..
New to zines. You’re the FIRST to cover pagination accurately. Love your premise of truly DIY. Thank you.
Thanks men, no expert here but try my best to do something kinda crafty and useful. Believe me took some try to figure the pages XD.

No problemo. Glad this was useful for you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make the pages order! I followed the numbers and used InDesign instead of Photoshop. Great job!

my only issues is binding dont know how to bind
I used a staples, depending on the thickness of the paper gets harder. But a good firm stapler should work.

Question: How did you put that blue middle line in your project?
You mean in the cover or in photoshop?
@@hugomezasoto between cover and back cover in Photoshop project?
@@rosemaryszczygiel1693 you position the mouse pointer in the ruler area, click and drag where you want that line.
