- Clown Motel. Haunted. Somewhat Run Down. Next to a Cemetery. The World's Scariest Motel! At least thats the way dozens of articles, lists, and websites refer to it. It's top of the list for strange out of the way motels to stay, and we're here for another Randomland Adventure! and unlike many of these list websites or people snapping a photo and driving off in terror, we're gonna go INSIDE THREE rooms in the hotel and spend the night in the CLOWN SUITE.
Allegedly built next to a CEMETERY for a very specific reason, Leona and Leroy David, brother and sister team, opened this CLOWN MOTEL five years BEFORE the movie IT. And Now hundreds of clowns grace the walls of the office and thousands of clowns visit from all over the world, not to mention all the guests who come to clown around like us.

Almost everywhere in Tonopah is haunted. In the first clip you can see just behind him the Mizpah Hotel which is very haunted. My family and I were driving home from a trip to Las Vegas and there was no where else to stay for miles so we decided to stay in Tonopah we actually did try seeing if there were any rooms available in the clown motel but it was actually full so we stayed in the mizpah not even realizing until the next morning that we had just slept in a haunted hotel.
But then none of it haunted, because there's no such thing.
I can deal with ghosts. I cannot deal with how gross the bathrooms are 😲

At my aunts old work they had a whole bunch of clowns in the bathroom and so once I had to go to the bathroom and I got so scared I turned all the heads around and I swear that one moved ! I never went back into that bathroom ever again

Sis and I are heading down for Vidcon, and I told her we were staying someplace fun on the way...she actually asked me if we were staying at the Clown motel...LOL Nope...staying in a Teepee in Olancha! hehehehehehe. I don't understand why people think clowns are scary. I mean, except for intentionally scary clowns. I get being afraid of Pennywise. But, like, Ronald McDonald? Never got it.

My father retired there after my mother died. He was there seven years. Where he passed, about two blocks from the Clown Motel. I lived there for six months dealing with his affairs.
The Clown motel was so close I could see the sign from his property. If you remember a place near there called the Banc Club, his house is the yellow one (was yellow in 2000), on the hill just behind the Banc Club. Too close if you live there.
Tonopah is actually the closest city of any size, 2,500, to Area 51. There was a blue school bus looking bus that left Tonopah every morning and came back in the evening taking workers to Area 51. I have, seen interesting things in the sky occasionally. My father built an observation room on his place that he could sit at a large picture window with binoculars and watch stuff in the sky. He was one of the guys that built the F-1 rocket engines in the 60s.

my mom and i explored this cemetery the last time we were in tonopah! we do the drive from vegas to reno quite a lot. in the cemetery, most of the headstones are immigrant workers from the early 1900s! some of them describe deaths ranging anywhere from fires to morphine overdoses! the motel is very eccentric. love the history of old nevada :) its kind of cool to grow up in vegas and see how different these old towns are.
