This is the only EV I've considered purchasing. Love the idea of a truck with sports car performance! 60K is getting interesting but if these start to move into that 50K or less range it very likely could be my next purchase. Reliability, service, and company longevity is my main concern at the moment with it.
Same here. My neighbor has one and he let me test drive it. Man, it's pretty quality built and very quiet on the road and freeway. Plus it's freaking fast and smooth.
$59.9 asking but they were only $75-80k new…Rivian raised prices later on. That was not a $100k truck to the original purchaser Not terrible for 3 years
As an owner of a 2013 Tesla Model S. I’m really excited about picking one up in a few years for hopefully less than 40K. Remember for every depreciation situation there’s always a opportunity for somebody.
I've had mine for 5 months, so far the absolute best vehicle ive ever owned. If you like the Rivian i say get it, and keep it for a long time, dont worry about resale value. Get the truck because you like it, and you will.
Thanks Ben! I really enjoy your videos! Especially how you drive all of the trims out there and your comparison videos. Super helpful to people looking for a new vehicle. Also you are one of the few RUclipsrs who almost always shows the payload sticker. I have a R1T with about 40k miles on it. (Quad motor) I was one of those lucky people who got the old pricing, so I don’t worry too much about the depreciation. Truck has been really reliable to me-mostly driven on road with a few offroad excursions doing fire roads (green and blue). It’s a ton of fun and I really love it and have no plans to sell it anytime soon. I think I’ll just keep piling miles on it and see what happens. I’m fortunate to have a handful of vehicles so, if the Rivian starts becoming unreliable it’s no big deal.
I hope the next generation revamped the suspension system because the suspension system on my 2023 R1S failed the very first day I got it. While proudly showing the car to my friends, a sudden puff of air erupted, and we watched in disbelief as the front of the vehicle dropped so low that the frame nearly touched the front wheels. Rivian towed the car, and it was repaired within a few days. However, a year and 21,000 miles later, the same issue happened again-this time while driving on the freeway. I had to pull over and fortunately live near a service center in Costa Mesa. The car was towed again, but with this problem recurring within a year, I strongly suspect a significant flaw in the suspension system. I’m relieved this didn’t occur during a mountain ski trip or a desert adventure, as Rivian markets the vehicle for. Now, I hesitate to drive the R1S far from home due to fear of another breakdown. The vehicle has been sitting at the service center for days without being examined. Despite multiple calls, I’ve only been told that the shop is backed up and they’ll get to it when they can. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Rivian needs to expand its network of service centers to better address the flood of issues reported by its customers.
The anomaly was the crazy “sell it for more than you bought it for” days of 2022 . Depreciation on cars is normal. I’ll keep my R1T until I get the R3X and maybe even keep both.
Going to see my son in the lower eastern sierras. There’s 1 Rivian in every 20 cars going up to Mammoth ski area. I kept thinking millions of dollars lost
No Rivian battery costs 40 to 50k you dunk. Its 18k and by the time you need a new battery that Infiniti would have fallen apart and been through 3 transmissions costing you way more then 18k
Cars typically have terrible depreciation. The only time they didn't was during Covid. When I buy a new car I plan on it being basically worthless when I'm done with it, and that's worked out fine with my Subaru after 180K and now my Ram truck currently at 145K and rolling. All these people that save money by not buying anything new, where is their pile of money that they saved?
They are backed by Amazon, and now a partnership with VW, I dont see them going anywhere, they are doing too many things right. If anything they will be bought out by VW or another company.
I remember when Hyundai and Kia, we’re not the most reliable at on point. They’ve gotten much better over the last 2 decades.. Rivian is pretty new it will get there. Plus lots of companies out there that will buy the company out of bankruptcy. I say give it 5-10 years. Prices will be fair, and hopefully vehicle quality won’t drop too much.
What I’m noticing is that the base model, two motor vehicles sell used for almost the same price as the top-end 4-motor ones that may have been $25k more new. But the two-motor models seem to hold their value very well
@@WattWerxPEV OK, let's take the huge amount of Rivian depreciation out of the equation. The Rivian costs 2X the Ford, and the Ford is a real truck. Now, add in the depreciation.
Hoping get a 2026 R2 in 2029 when a lease is up. Wishing to get a bigger battery, dual motor with the changing glass and AWD package for around 40-45k as specing one new will easily be over 50k and not a wise choice for me.
