Excellent reviews
D2 is a type of steel used in knives. It was pretty awesome when it first came out. It's now cheap enough to be found in many Chinese knives, and it does make for a pretty good blade. It trades stainlessness for edge performance, so don't leave it wet. It's up to you whether you trust the manufacturer that it's actually D2.
Good to know thank you!
That’s all good if it really is D2. Chinese companies are famous for mismatch steel types.
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial D2 is still a fantastic steel and i found that genuine D2 knives go from around $40 on the cheaper end and i believe ive seen $120 on the much higher end. which is personally way too much to pay for D2
It doesn't matter what kind of steel it is if it's not heat treated properly. And that's the problem with the cheap Chinese knives.
Additionally, D2 isn't stainless a pretty brittle. That's why the only bubble D2 blades have a thick blade stock. ...but that still doesn't help the fragile tip.
@@alphadawg81 So maybe i should do a torture test on these knives? Put them in a vice, use a weight tool to pressure them, or maybe into my press? See what it takes before they give out to test actual strength?
Knife 2 for sure. Also, a little advice from a long time high end knife collector…you should do the paper test slowly to get a better idea of what the edge is doing as far as edge geometry and sharpness are concerned. Take care and keep up the great work!!!
He seems new to it tbh. He'll get the hang hopefully.
I was going to say the same thing, swinging the knife at the sheet of paper like that isn't going to tell you much lol
One thing about Temu, if you see something you like keep looking, often you'll find the exact knife (or any item) at a cheaper price from another seller. Two of my favorite spring assisted folders were only $5.50. I've bought a few as gifts.
Very good point, thats kind of why i exaggerated the "scam" aspect a bit. I wanted people to see that so they can save some cash while shopping there!
About that Gerber knife, Temu does ship from legitimate brands in the USA. They do also have their "home base" in the USA as well. Yes they are owned by a Chinese Company but they have some real winning items.
Thanks so much fo testing the items for us though it helps so much to know how good the quality of an item is even from an American company. ❤
Im not so sure the gerber knife was legit. Considering it was removed from the website. but who knows?
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficialthey were selling some sunglasses one there that looked exactly like pit vipers and they even said pit viper on them and i looked at some side by side images and they were perfectly identical they were selling for like $3 but they got taken off as well 😅
The Gerber Strongarm retails for $80 - $120, no way this one is legit.
But still a good knife for $15, it seems.
Ive been using the gerber knock off quite a lot, it doesnt stay sharp super long, but sharpens back up decently. (Opening / cutting a ton of cardboard)
I'd wager Temu has very few U.S. brands though. I also doubt Temu stocks the legit product as well, especially concerning knives. Any knifemaker worth their salt will not be selling their knives on Temu, Gerber included. I guarantee Temu is not an authorized Gerber retailer. If you see anything from Kershaw, Benchmade, Hogue, Microtech, Spyderco, Buck, Zero Tolerance, etc, for such a cheap price it is highly likely to be a counterfeit/fake.
Temu is the last place you should be buying knives. Sure it's nice to save money and get stuff for cheap, but I'd rather have the real thing even if it means I have to spend more money to get it. As a collector/enthusiast of pocket knives, it really gets my goat seeing fakes for sale on these Chinese storefronts. I want the legit stuff and this crap devalues the real McCoy.
I remember hearing that when Japan was recovering from WW2 they actually renamed an industrial city to "Usa". Then they could mark stuff "MADE IN USA". A lot of shenanigans go on with Asian markings, like Ta1wan. But I guess that as long as you're happy with your purchase who cares, right?
Interesting fun fact there, never knew that. But in the end, sometimes its all about what ya need for the right price!
Yea I've heard that somewhere too, crazy
In Japanese usa is shortening of usagi = bunny, refering to someone as a bunny + level of politness and age from baby to old/high ranking would be usa -tan, -chan, -kun, -san, -sama. My point being Usa means completly different than America.
Yes there is a town named Usa but it predates the war by about 1200 years.
It's on the island of Kyushu and is named after the Shinto God Usa Hachiman.
Great knife review Gary. Knife 1 for style and for over all usage knife 3. I have a buddy I known for 40 years who has collected knifes all his life so you gave me some great Ideas thank you.
Hey I appreciate it, this was a fun video to make!
The Kobun from cold steel is a very good knife. Its Aus 8 stainless steel. They usually go for 60 bucks. If you do start doing knife reviews I would suggest learning the companies and manufacturers of the knives. 😊
The Gerber and Cold Steel will be the best knives. I dont own the Gerber you showed but I do have two that are similar make from Gerber brand. They make a solid knife.
🤣😂😆😆😂🤣😂😂
Well this fake was horrible, after sharpening it wouldnt stay sharp for more than a couple days of use! Number 1, was an absolute champ. Still use it almost every day crazy sharp still
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficialyou never really know what steal or the hardening/tempering it has. It may have been hardened but never tempered leaving it brittle. Sometimes they aren’t too bad and if you lose it you won’t cry alligator tears. Some of the Chinese counterfeit knives do a darn good job of copying. Kobun is the model name. Cold Steel is a well known company and China loves to copy them along with Gerber, Buck, Benckmade and a few others.
Good info thank you, Any suggestions on future knife test videos?@@dennishein2812
When you said "Ally" express I laughed uncontrollably. Thank you for that.
the backside tip of that damascus rip-off I bet can serve as a decent glass breaker, wouldn't be surprised if that's why they added it.
Not a bad thought!
Bought knife#3 in the first group thanks to your review! Thanks for testing them all out and giving your informed opinion!
Let me know when you get it and what you think about it ! Would be great to see some feedback on the same products so people get some other opinions!
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial For sure!
Hello I recieved the knife recently and have to say it's really worth the price. It's small enough to carry and would be perfect for a outdoor use or as knife for the kitchen. The weight feels good in hand and it seems well balanced, the pattern etched on the blade looks great and even the sheath smells like real leather! The finish on the handle is a bit rough on one side by the blade but in no way detracts from the overall appearace and functionality of the blade. For the price I got this (around $15 US) I have to say it's really worth it. Sorry this was rather long winded.
Not at all thanks for the added review! Glad to hear it is as you expected. @@johnhutchins4157
I have a decent collection of high-end / low-end knives, from a KaBar 1211 military fixed blade, Microtech Ultratech OTF, Muela Scorpion and dozens of other blades I picked up over the years.
The one knife I use daily which is razor sharp after 1 swipe on a sharpener is a cheap Chinese folder that I bought on Temu for about $8.
It's funny how throughout my life it's always been the cheap stuff that has been the most reliable and least hassle.
It is kind of ironic how that works. I do have one really knife custom made by an old friend from the military, paid around 300 for it. Its crazy sharp, but i dont use it a ton since i dont want to mess it up 😂😅😂
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial Yep, my nice expensive knives I don't want to damage! 🤣
It's more of a collectors thing i guess.
When you do the wood test , hacking an shaving the wood you may try doing mega close-ups on the edge afterwards to check whether the edge had chipped or rolled or just immediately dulled. This will give all of us as well as yourself an idea of the quality of the steel an more importantly the quality of their heat treat on the steel. Good info to know!
Ah thats a really good idea. These comments are certainly being read, and will help make any future knife reviews a lot better!
Retired Machinist here, we used to use D2 a lot in tooling because it holds an edge well, it’s basically a decent all purpose steel. Whether that is really D2, hard to tell.
I like the look of knife 1. This was a fun video and I thoroughly enjoyed it. That letter opener katana knife was cool! Those two Damascus looking knives were also neat, especially the iridescent one!
Thank you! I had a ton of fun making it myself.
I Love those old Camillus TL-29 electrician knives. I got one from my grandpa, who was an electrician for over 40 years, and I carry it on a regular basis. I 'm not an electrician myself, but the scraper blade, wire strippers, and flathead screwdriver really comes in handy. I've had times where I've needed to strip a battery cable, scrape adhesive off of something, or tighten loose screws and it really helped. That knife you got from temu isn't an electrician's knife. It ain't shit compared to a TL-29.
Cold steel is the maker. Kubon is the model name.
Aus8a is the steel.
D2 is the steel type.
Gerber, like all makers, have high end and low end offerings. $16 is cheap but no unheard of.
If the name isnt stamped in the knife, its a mix of a bunch of steels.
Flex in your hand means nothing, put it in a vise if you want to test the flex.
Weight doesnt equal quality
Paper test is more for edge geometry. A razor blade glides through paper but is made from very cheap steel. No edge retention.
If you're going to keep reviewing knives, I'd honestly do some research into makers, steel types, it would help your reviews be more informative for people that aren't into knives.
All fair advice, I really just wanted to do a basic test but overall I think people would like more informative reviews like you're suggesting. So i'll do a bit of research before the next one! Thanks!
@unboxanalysis1 I think what you're doing is awesome though, the knife-collecting rabbit hole runs deep!
Wait until you see how many variations of opening mechanisms and locking mechanisms there are now.
@@ThisOldSword Thank you I appreciate it! I've always liked knives, But I know a lot more about cooking than the others. It is a very interesting rabbit hole. But with life being so busy Its not one ive quite had time to dive down just yet!
This is a great comment. Glad I'm not the only one cringing at the lack of real info being provided here. A few things I would add/correct is that the paper test is exclusively going to test the factory edge and nothing else. And that all those damascus knives where "real damascus" in the sense that they use 2 or more different steels but for all we know it would be home debot steel as they aren't labeled meaning they are 100% of the time going to be total junk. Just because something is "real damascus" means absolutely nothing about quality and WAY more often than not at this price point it's going to be a downgrade in quality.
Coldsteel Kobun is a real knife, but you were obviously holding a copy of it, based on how poor the edge was.
I might pick one up, because I'm looking for a cheap bootknife.
I have been using a few of them a lot, and ive noticed the edges do not stay sharp very long. Probably the cheaper steel
I have a couple of those knives. Sharpened them up and they hold an edge pretty good
Nice good to know, I plan to use at least a few of them for sure
Aaaah, thank you for this info. It was a concern of mine that I did state in my comment. Good to know.
I'd go with knife 3. I went to go buy one before the video even ended but it looks like it is no longer available. I have a Gerber LMF and would have loved to see them side by side.
I was a little skeptical about buying knives on temu before but these don't look to bad.
In a future video, I may try to get real vs Fake as well
I bought some chef’s knives from Temu and they are really solid knives. I definitely recommend them to anyone who works in a kitchen. I love that Gerber!
Careful people might think you're paid for saying anything nice about temu 😂😅 jk! I bought a set of their chef knives as well, I use them in my camping gear. They work really well
that gerber strongarm and the cold steel ripoffs are the worst fakes I've seen in a while lol
great review but could use some work on the paper test dont need to swing the knife at the paper you want to let the knife do the work and just slowly cut at the paper.
Thanks for the advice!
You get color on A blade by adding heat with A fast cool down until you get it right
I wonder if they did the same thing with this one. Or if its some kind of dye/print. I didnt go very hard on it but it seemed pretty strong.
I think that rainbow finish is a coating. It's on lots of novelty knives these days.
Much better knives than I thought there would be. Pretty cool!
people think im paid by temu haha, im just genuinely impressed for the price
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial I actually have been pleasantly surprised by many things I bought on there. They had some Baofeng UV16 Two Way Radios ($30 a piece) that I actually know the brand. Got those and they are great you can transmit from many miles. Really only one thing so far wasn't great as it was small compared to what my wife thought they would be. Had like 4 orders so far with really no problems and decent shipping times.
Cold steel is the company of that first knife of round 3. It's also probably the only one that isn't made out of glorified pot metal.
Good to know
Of your top 3 picks, I would go with knife number 1. It's sharp, sturdy, and beautiful, whereas the other two feel more utilitarian to me.
Knife 1 is the best looking. Knife 3 (real or not) is going to be the most functional for multiple purposes.
I own three of them. 1 I purchased from Blade HQ so I know is legit and the other two from Temu. Don't think they are real, but they are so close its impossible to tell the difference. I imagine the Blade steel is of a lower quality then the real thing.
Good unboxing vid. I have been looking at a lot of those same knives but hesitant, as you don't know what you would actually be getting.
Please do more of these unboxings with bigger badder knives.
Actually knife 3 turned out to be one of the worst! I would sharpen it, and within a day or two it would be dull again. Knife 1 however, ive been using that thing for months still sharp as can be
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial this is really good to know. For knife three I use the real one and put the other 2 fake ones in various kit bags. I will need to take a second look at those. Thank you for the feedback back on this. I would love to see an update vid on this with those knives.
Also, I am definitely going to look into that other knife, especially if it had been performing well. For the price you can’t beat it.
I bought a few different small knives from Temu. They don't have locks on them but they still work pretty good.
Another awesome video, thanks for doing this one in particular! It was almost painful to watch when you got to the Gerber though - I ordered one from Temu (to fit on the backpack that I also got from Temu!) But a week later they said there was a problem with shipping the knife, cancelled it and removed the listing! I wanted it so badly by then that I considered buying it here locally but it's like £100! I was hoping you'd tell me the Temu version is junk but now I just want it even more 😂 Awesome work on the videos, they were great to begin with but they just keep getting better, and it's so cool seeing how far you've come. Keep up the good work!
Aw thats a bummer! Im guessing they just get take down requests from the actual companies for selling fakes and have to remove them. I posted the video, and in less than 3 hours the listing was gone! But thanks for the kind words!
Wish their all over the place
I ordred one myself and the Gerber and made in USA was removed so that probably explains why it was off TEMU for a bit. The one I recieved though is solid. Sharp to whittle and a chop. It also fits the sheath very snug! Id give it a 9.
The kobun cold steel. The kobun is the name of the knife. Cold steel is the company they copied it from cold steel sell the legit knife I own the knock off just cuz I thought it looked cool. It’s apparently aus 8A steel. Iv been using it for garden work and it’s not failed me. The tank goes half way down the handle I rate it a 9/10 it would be better if the loop in the handle was better. And if it was tang all the way to it but it’s not. The grip feels cheap but if this knife slips out of your hand. Stop being butter fingers I didn’t let go of this nice once swinging it on branches and bushes :). I really like it I have the black steel one but I know that will rub off eventually
I wonder if i should buy some real versions and try to test them against the fake ones!
Dude awesome video glad to know the wood one you have to put together I was looking at it today
Yeah that part is a bit unfortunate and there are a TON of pieces haha
Cool content! Can you do a folding knife temu haul?
you need to do the paper test after the wood testing, or get some rope and cut the rope about 20 times with each knife then do the paper test to see how the edge retention is. you can sharpen a fruit rollup to the point of slicing a paper, but its not going to do it more than a few times which is the important part.
Hahaha Well it seems obvious that you're not a knife guy generally speaking , that wood test had me howling. If you are going to continue reviewing knives i suggest maybe watching a few videos some of the other people on Utube have made and go from there. That being said i hope you continue with your knife journey, there are some truly amazing pieces of cutlery out there these days and theres definitely something for everyone :).
Oh yeah for sure, I just thought it would be fun to chop into the wood ahahaha no real standing at all. I enjoyed making the video, ive seen a lot of other knife reviews just thought ide do it in a random way for some fun. Thanks for the comment!
The pen-shaped knife is not thin. It is 4mm thick, only the top is sanded. The gray color shows that it is made of high-carbon steel.
I spent almost 3 hours sharpening its top with a diamond sharpener. Steel is really hard. The handle is made of rosewood.
The knife, which reminded you of a karambit, makes very thin cuts on the skin of the finger, but very nasty ones. The blood won't stop flowing. He is very dangerous.
What does the best knives mean?
You have chosen 3 knives for completely different uses. You can only use the tanto type for combat.
The one with the blue handle is a hunting knife, slightly modeled on a kukri.
The downward-curved handle increases the impact force when dividing game and facilitates cutting with the front part of the blade.
The folding knife with the tang sticking out of the end appears to be made to break car windows if ever trapped inside. Any access to a junkyard to test that?
This the best review unboxing I've seen yet thanks
I appreciate it cody thanks!
I'd buy that Gerber if I could, even though I doubt it's legit. The Strongarm retails for around $100 in the US.
Great video, you should do this again!
Thank you! I plan to do another one, but ive been doing some.. research so i can present a little more information the right way!
I bought a set of 7 cooking knives with knife guards for $17.50. They are so sharp, I had to get a pair of gloves that stop skin cuts to be able to use them!
Any idea on the name or branding?
Very cool. I have been thinking about doing the same thing with a knife Temu Haul.
It was a lot of fun!
Tried the links for some of the knives and couldn’t get to them. I was especially hopeful to find the 2 tactical knives.
Yeah sorry it seems some items from Temu just get randomly discontinued !
They have a mini knife set that can be put on a key chain and they are sharp as hell.
Seems a bit dangerous unless the cases are pretty secure! The ones I got were all very dull
Just bought the one for 8 dollars thank god you had a review so I can see what I bought thanks for the review it’s the karabit looking one that I bought
No joke, ive been using that exact knife almost daily since this video went live
I'd love to see a baton test into the wood, but would expect it to damage/destroy most knives. Then perform paper test again after the wood to see how much of that super sharp edge is still there.
Good idea thanks for the suggestion
Should have went back to the paper after the wood on the sharp ones to see how well they hold the edge
I agree, i didn't even think of that until people kept commenting it
They round knife that screws into the sheath is a diving knife. It screws in so you don't lose the knife swimming around.
Ahhh that actually makes a lot of sense. I assumed it was some kind of gimmick. Thanks for the info!
all i get from your links are discontinued item, knife 3 (fake gerber) for the win
Great video and thanks for updating the prices much easier to see!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
We buy a lot from Temu, but no knives... yet. I would pick 3. It looks like it would take a beating in a survival situation. Might be a good Bug out bag knife, a hicking knife.
Enjoyed your purchases. Thought your testing sized up the knives quite well. Thanks
Appreciate it thank you!
So the first knife you showed, I bought, just got it in . I really like it. Your right about the sheath, ( it's not good ) but the knife is . With my line of work I use a knife every day and when I tell you I will put it through it's pace. I'm hard on them . Will see how long it lasts. Thanks for the great videos you put out.
Hey thats awesome! If you happen to remember after a month or two, come back and give me an update!
The interesting thing about these top 3 picks is that they've all been discontinued. I'd suggest that is because they are counterfeit knives. Dubious Chinese companies will produce copies of well-known knives, using cheaper materials, including 'pot' steel, steel used to make cooking pots, but labeled as higher-end steel. That type of pot steel can't be properly heat-treated and will go blunt almost immediately, and be very hard to get a sharp edge. Not because the steel is hard, but because it is too soft.
I have a genuine Gerber Strongarm (like the copy in your video), and it was about USD80. It is a tough, sharp, all-rounder that is a great tool.
I would suggest that these knives might be fine to have around to 'show off', but they won't be practical for any real use.
With respect to which one I think is the best value, I'd pick No2. It has a minimalist aesthetic, and looks expensive. Plus, you can't beat the price.
Cheers from Australia.
Oh wow thats fast, when i was editing the video right before posting they were still up!
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial Wow! Yeah, I was checking as I commented. I wonder if they've just been discontinued for us 'wrapped in cotton wool by the Government' Aussies? LOL
@@BradGryphonn No a few of them vanished for me too in that short time. Super weird on that timing since i ordered those a month ago!
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial I've noticed that the electrical and electronic parts I buy have a high turnover rate. I'm learning to order more than I need, just in case. I've been buying a lot of 12-volt switches, junction boxes, and bridges for my home-on-wheels build. I can get the same items at most times better quality for a quarter the cost at an outlet here. Most of the companies here are franchise/chain auto stores that are buying from the same suppliers anyway.
I don't think I'd buy precision tools or power tools through Temu though...or flashlights/torches etc.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I like the way you present your Temu hauls. Very cool.
Flex in a knife is a good thing. As long as it flexes, then goes back to its original place. If the temper on the blade is done right it will flex so it doesnt break.
What steel are they size grind feather stick just a suggestion
Like length? Not sure what you mean by size grind feather stick
The Gerber n Cold Steel knives aren't meant to do the paper test, they're not meant to be the most slicy knives. Both models are more outdoor/tactical/military style knives. Also, I wouldn't trust the d2 stamp on those knives. It might say d2, but more than likely won't hold up like d2.
Got any ideas on a good way to test the overall strength with the d2 markings?
You can you use the wood puzzle one as a pattern
D, ,
Hm a pattern for making a knife you mean? Interesting idea
I hope you know that the "Damascus" pattern on the blades is just a stamp and print pattern. If you really want to do a wood test, try stabbing the tips of the knives into tire wood and rocking them side to side to check the quality of the steel used
Yep deff just a stamp! Ive had that suggested afew times, in future vidieos ill do the tip test, and ill pickup a sharpness tester as well
I’m curious, other than buttering your toast, have you ever used a knife before? The “test” with the 2x4; what was the intent? It did nothing but provide a very weak indication of the weight of the knife. And the paper slice? Slow down! If you plan on doing this again, I recommend that you watch a few videos with someone knowledgeable on the subject. Also learn common names of blade steels and manufacturers.
Of the top three I'd pick knife two. I love the way it closes seamlessly.
😊 to test the sharpness of a knife or any blade there is a machine that measures the weight it takes to cut through a small filament. I believe it it's called the bath or something really close to that. I would suggest you use that to test the sharpness of blades.
Ive seen them, they are quite expensive so not in the budget just yet! But I will try to get one eventually
I’d like to see what the paper test is after the wood test….
I do have another knife review planned in the future, with some more thorough testing. I even picked up a sharpness tester for future videos as well. Learned a lot from the comments alone
tougher knives are harder to sharpen but they last longer. I don’t trust the made in usa part either but it seemed to be a sturdy knife. I dont like how the other one is kind of half tang but you cant beat the price. The Damascus knife is cool and is sharp but that things edge probably won’t last so over all the “made in usa” one would be your best option
Yeah most likely not, but hard to not find useful when they are so cheap!
Tip- do shave test before chop test, cause it dulled two points of the blade. Also butcher knives from Temu would be interesting.
Good idea thanks!
Any blade of any steel can b really sharp but its how long it can remain sharp as alot of cheap steel is so soft that just sitting on a shelf can actually cause the blades fine edge to oxidize n loose the cutting edge, i whole heartedly believe if ur gonna buy a knife buy the best u can with a quality steel n blade thickness NO LESS THAN 4MM THICKNESS.
So knife 3, stays sharp about 2 days of average use and cutting cardboard, Knife 2 stayed decently sharp.. but knife 1.. That one, ive used almost every day opening boxes, breaking down cardboard and more.. Havent sharpened it once, still crazy sharp
Years ago, I purchased some knives from vova, which were similar to temu, distributors for chinese goods. The vova knives were all junk, their ESEE Izula was made from cast iron, blunt and refused to take any acceptable edge. Temu surprised me, their blades are hardened and come sharp - I wouldn't rely on their claims about beeing D2, M390 or the handles made from titanium (it mostly refers to the colour- real titanium goods like pots and cups are at an equal price point as here), as well as beeing from Cold Steel or Gerber. They are knock-offs, but usable if you don't expect them to be as strong and capable as the originals. Haven't tested their toughness yet, but don't expect much - somewhere they must save costs and hardening and tempering the blades is an easy way.
Love the content bro. Nothing wrong with reviewing the clone and cheaper side of the market. Would love to see some testing cutting rope and some meat or fruit. Looking forward to more similar content.. I liked knife 1 great looks and an awesome price. If your not gonna be in a survival situation no need to spend £100s on a knife for the collection in my opinion
I enjoy it, ive actually been using quite a few of these a LOT. The big gerber one is the only one that didnt really stay sharp long.
second knife has purpose in his making first...electrisian knife is instead scalper razor for cutting cords and wires...first looks nice
I was also told the round knife is a diving knife apparently!
look at the cutting edge and the spine of the knife between the handle scales.if its damascus it will have the pattern.
Im pretty sure none of these were real damascus, still fun to check out and use though!
Do you know what knife 1 was called because I want to get it as a gift for a friend but it’s not on temu anymore
I tried looking it up again and even under the old names couldnt find it! Best bet is to just search knives until you find it or one similar
D2 is a type of tool steel with good edge retention tough and durable with low chromium making it non corrosive resistant or stainless. It will rust so you’ll need to oil it. Weight doesn’t mean quality or that it’s super solid. Also that knife labeled cold steel is not a cold Steel knife. Cold Steel is a brand.
Would have been cool to review a machete but I don’t think they sell those
I didn't see any while looking through.
Flex in a blade it about tempering and about the type of steel. It's not always a bad thing if the blade has flex.
Yeah good point, especially for like a filet knife its pretty important to have flex!
I picked knife 1. Looked like it was good quality and looked nice.
Bro the Knife all look nice i love just collecting and having knifes in general i bought like 5 knife when i went down to Arizona last month Next year imma get alot more when i go back down!
Yeah they are neat, and for a collector the prices are very cheap!
knife 1 has a lot more going for it overall personally in looks and i feel it is priced fair but best value has too be knife 2 on price alone and also look a solid build knife 3 seems more ya typical camp knife without the sharpness makes me wounder how well all these would stand up too long term use and if the would dull or chip and require reshapening often
I have been thinking the same thing, and since im always working on stuff im going to take the real/fake gerber, and put it through the ringer in my day to day use, ill update back in a couple months!
I purchased a HUANG FU knife from Temu for £16 real leather case amazing knife surprised you did not include it in your review as I’m sure it would have won hands down
I'll try to find it, I didnt see that one when shopping through!
It's probably a mix of metal's and would break easily if clamped and tested in a vise. D2 is nice for work knives imo and I doubt some of those are D2 steel. Not saying they all aren't but I'm betting some aren't. Now D2 is commonly a tool steel and is pretty solid like I said for a knife you don't mind using and beating on. But yeah I'd bet these are mostly all mixed random metal's and probably not hardened properly either.
No real reason to fake D2. It's pretty cheap steel as is. Heat treatment maybe questionable but I'd say the steel is D2.
When you get into more exotic steels, m390, cruwear etc that's when I'd question it.
I have a masalong and ganzo both in legit D2. Fit and finish on the masalong is subpar but all ganzos slap for the price.
You should do basic tasks with all of them and see which ones dull in like one use. Those are the ones that arent hardened at all
Ive used the top 3 a lot since this video, Knife 3 dulls crazy fast oddly enough the worst one. Knife 2 works fine but its a bit awkward, knife #1... Absolutely awesome, used it for months, still sharp as can be
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial yeah unfortunately a lot of these knives from wish or temu or whatever (even Amazon and eBay) look cool but they aren't even hardened. You try to sharpen them and they'll get sharp until you cut something. Even paper, just a few cuts and the apex gets like crushed under the pressure.
@@bdub0983 Thats the part that surprised me, that the one designed to look "neat" is the one that has stayed sharp for months lol
Knife 1 is my fave from both style and performance.
I got the mini karambit and it come sharp. Not super sharp or anything but it cut paper and could shave wood. Just to add to your review of the tiny knives :)
Hey very nice! Thanks for the input!
Is any of the knives able to sharpen?
Yep, they all can be sharpened, I dont use knives a ton though so I dont have a great way to show long term durability or how long they will hold the edge with use
Can't get knife two or three anymore. Shame. I'm sure having Gerber printed on the one is what caused that to be taken down. Knife 1(by default)
Yeah probably the reason, but if you search a bit im sure there are more like it!
knife two. i also have the thin rainbow is tanto an hoped it would do better
round handle on a knife is a bad thing, as the handle can rotate in your hand while using it.
Thats also a really good point, I'll keep that in mind in future unboxings
The Gerber knife looks legit I have a Gerber strongarm got from bass pro shop for about $80. It looks the same
Yeah i was surprised heavily by that one for sure.
The D2 on the second tanto knife is the steel not the name of it
Knife one is the best out of the three
Good to know thanks
I feel like knife 3 is the best value, but for looks, I'd go with knife 1.
I have one of those "Gerbers" and it's a counterfeit.
The reason a knife cuts better on one side of the paper than the other is because paper has a grain and the better cuts are going with the grain. (Im a booksmith.)
I think its worth it more than waiting to be of age to purchase some $80-$100 i could just go buy a sharp and durable knife which comes in handy everyday for me
Well after all my testing and use since this video, knife #1 is still razer sharp after using it almost every day! It held up amazingly.
They etch the blade with a damascus pattern. That's one way to cut costs.
That looks like a real Gerber strong-arm knife. Surprised it was on temu. Knife 3
Doesnt stay sharp long, but i use it a lot for opening boxes and stuff
I liked the video posting and your testing the knives was kool as well as your selection of knives n things to be reviewed 👍👍👍.
I personally would like a bit better n longer look at each n every knife you know the finish and handle that kind of thing but that's just me I want to feel like I'm there looking at them, over all good posting thanks 😁😎🍻✌️👋
Hey I appreciate the comment and the ideas on what you would like to see. I need more viewers to tell me more about what they like, so i really do appreciate it. Thanks Kyle!
What editing software do you use
I use premiere pro
Sawing is what you do with saws, not knives. Try putting your thumb on the back (spine) of the blade and using it to push the blade through the wood.
Great advice, Would be neat if i had a way to use the exact same pressure to push down on each one.
D2 is not the name of the knife. It's the type of steel they say it's made of.
Excellent video. I do like #1 but #3 don't know if its a Gerber but definitely a kick but knife. So I guess I'm going to say 13
Thank you! 13 seems to be a good choice haha
ive gotten a few "damascus" knives from amazon for way more expensive than what temu has and let me tell you...they are NOT real damascus lol. But I suppose if a knife does what a knife is supposed to do then who can argue with a cheap price?
Thats my thought, im no expert by any means but if it works it works!
Knife #1 is my favorite.... karambit knife was also cool.
What is the gerber knife part number
no part number on it sadly
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial bc i looked for it and couldn't find it
