I didn’t know that, but she wouldn’t be the first soap opera star from Australia turned famous singer. The only difference is Rick Springfield was on an American soap opera called “General Hospital.”

British comedian David Armand does a great bit interpreting this song in sign language, and there's this version from a charity event that Natalie Imbruglia actually performed live with him, always nice to see an artist with a sense of humor.

Her version is actually a cover of a early 1990s more rock style original song from Sweden or Norway.
Her last name is italian. In english it would translate as something like "Troublemaker" or "Troublesome".
Every song from this album - _"Left of the Middle"_ is a banger.
But yes - the song was released late 90s, during my high school days, and will forever be a part of my teen years. So many nights spent in my room doing homework listening to this.

Maybe try Pineapple Head - song written by Neil Finn and sung by Miss Imbruglia. Neil Finn is well known for writing songs for women - another is "Its You I Know" by Jenny Morris.

Need to watch the official video helps a bit , but a good song either way.
In the past few years, I first listened to this again and realized I had heard her before/this song back in the 90s/early 2000s as well. She also does the song Smoke which is decent, but I hadn't heard before. I haven't heard much but Torn is my favorite from her. I don't know if it will help search results or not but if possible, you may want to remove the "I" before the "L" in her last name.
IMM BROO GLIA (Imbruglia). She's Australian, and this was pretty much her only hit. Here in the US, anyway. She left the music scene a long time ago. I think she married and had kids. I've always loved this song! I always think of "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks, when I hear it, and vise-versa, as they were both popular in the same time.
Actually she had two other hits as well. I guess she was more popular in Europe thsn the USA.

I had to Lol at the dentist comment! Everytime I hear The Commodores song I'm Easy I think of my dentist. I had a tooth filled to that when I was around 15.

This is a cover of the band Ednaswap, and the original is much, much better: more full, and the singer is actually a singer, as opposed to Imbrugilia, whose voice is thin. Imbrugilia also didn't give credit to Endaswap, pretty much pretended that it was her song.

It's actually a bit weirder than that. The first recorded version was by Lis Sørensen 1993, called _Brændt_ , meaning burnt. The first Ednaswap recording came after that though they played it live before it was ever recorded, and there was another version made 1996 by Trine Rein, before this version was recorded.
