No sweat about the lyrics from me. I listen at least a dozen times before Maynard's singing turns into actual words. it even keeps the song fresher when you don't know WTF the song's about and you slowly, "get it."
Hi buddy, Essential to really feel any song : no cut ! It's a real pleasure to see you react. Welcome to the world, my friend. Now you know TOOL. I guarantee you'll never forget this band. A 47 years old french fan of TOOL since 1993 ("Undertow" album release year). Best regards from France.
Happy Birthday! This one was a standout this first time I heard it. Jambi came from the riff. Jambi was the genie from Pee-Wee's playhouse. The riff had that candece so they named the song Jambi. Then the lyrics "I would wish it all away" works with that as well. ruclips.net/video/XN5kVvR8VQI/видео.htmlsi=JkPV26UgQeJXla22 In my opinion this song has to do with achieving so much like money, fame, power and such but realizing that none of that is truly important when compared to the connection with a person you love that is gone. This whole album 10,000 days relates to the time Maynard's mother was paralysed then passed away so he may have written about his mother. Just like all art your interpretation is your own.
Well, in regards to story behind the track (very emotional taking lyrics into consideration). Apparently, there are two baselines, one that the track is about the suffering of losing Maynard's (singer/vocalist) mom (the album title, 10,000 days, is strictly related to numbers of days she struggled with sickness and being impaired). The second one links this song to Maynard's son. Anyway, Tool's lyrics always got you something you should think of. Happy birthday and spiral out :)
The last few minutes of this song require me to turn up my volume to ridiculous levels and absolutely ensure my neighbors are headbanging along with me 🤘🤘🤘
Tool is absolutely best listened to just as you do, listen to the music first, the lyrics will come! The whole reason Maynard stays low in the mix most of the time is because he uses his voice as an instrument, not as the guy shouting at you...LOL. Only makes since that you'd wanna listen to the music first, simply because of that.
When I watch you listen to Tool, it reminds me exactly of me.... how I feel and the experiences I have, which is really enjoyable. Like looking in a mirror! Well, except that I am about 40 years older... and have gray hair... and a boring American accent... and I'm a woman. So, yeah. Not really like looking in a mirror at all. 😂 EXCEPT for that Tool vibe, and I'm lovin it!
Just watched them play this live last week. It was my 6th TOOL show since seeing them fist back in 2001
I missed the fisting days 😢

Yaaas. Thanks for saying this. I didn't have a clue what this song was about until recently, and I've been enjoying it since it was released. 😊
Yep

One of their best and my personal fave for sentimental reasons. 🤘😎
Happy birthday! Great reaction!
That Bass Tone!!!!
The last few minutes of this song require me to turn up my volume to ridiculous levels and absolutely ensure my neighbors are headbanging along with me 🤘🤘🤘
I wish we were neighbors
My favorite is Stinkfist, hope you get to that soon. Has an eerie tone and contrasting vocals.
Happy Birthday! Great reaction as always! 🎉🎂🎊🎁
the lyrics for this were actually written by Dicky Barrett from the mighty mighty bosstones🎉

Happy Birthday 🎂 🤘🏻🌀
Happy belated birthday
This tune reminds me so much of those weird poppy tunes that early 70's King Crimson would indulge themselves in.
It's about his son Devo H Keenan and how having him changed his life
Awesome song. Everyones fingers a toes crossed for me with the presale for Sleep Token this morning please. Live cherry still intact.
Happy birthday🎂🎉🎁
I'll be 46 in 2 weeks
Mekkah Lekkah High Mekkah Hiney Ho
H do the song H please.
Listen to music the way you want to.
Tool is not Maynard's band. Maynard would tell you that.
Maynard's misfits? Serious? He comes in after and does his little bits. The band would be just as good without him.
😂 It was a little joke mate, calm down.
Best trio ever
Happy birthday🥳
