would like to know this too. i'd imagine its entirely down to the fabric. Some sheer fabrics can still have a tight weave that wouldnt allow much airflow, while some will have a far more open weave thats more like a fly screen. Best to contact the blind company youre looking at and possibly order some samples.

I live in an East facing property with very little afternoon daylight. How much daylight do you find the blinds block? Do they block out significantly more than simple sheers?
I have a question for you :). How do you fill holes in a way that makes it structurally as good as new? Take the drill holes you made in this vid for example. If you wanted to fit a different type of blinds some day, you'd remove these ones and end up with holes where these screws used to be. You could fill them in with plaster to make a visually invisible filling, but plaster is weaker than brick, so if you need to drill close to the old holes for the new blinds ("close" meaning within one drill diameter), you'll find the drill bit pulls itself toward the old holes where all there is is weak plaster. Is there a way to fill drill holes that's as strong as the original brick and can be drilled without the bit wandering, and can bear loads as well as virgin brick? Maybe using cement?
Quick question: can you put a roller blind on a normal curtain rod and NOT use the mechanical part? I just want it to hang (and need to weight at the bottom to make it flatter) to use it as a backdrop for webcam meetings. Thanks
wow these are really great. I want to replace my very expensive custom blinds with these "shades" as we call them. Much more usable. I could easily have all the light coming in with the mesh but nobody can see in, brilliant.

Thanks to things I've picked up on your channel I was able to go in and "tell" him how to do certain things. We're going to be fitting wetwall ourselves, got any tips on doing that in a kitchen? I've also found it's useful to know how something's done when hiring in. It gives me confidence to know when someone's being lazy 😂 I'm not sure regarding a wet wall. Is this like a fascia splash back type of thing often in bathrooms made of plastic?
@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK yes that's exactly what it is. It goes over tiles, panelling uneven walls etc. I can find videos on doing it in bathrooms but none for kitchens 🤷♀️xx
Most blinds come in a set series of sizes! You just need to make sure you measure the window the right way (height and width) and then cut the width down to size. It can be a bit tricky to get a nice cut the whole length ... and the central roll is usually steel so a decent hacksaw is good for that bit ;0) With that type it typically slots in one end and then slides the other with a plastic retainer, but some need to flex the bracket to allow this. Unfortunately this means you will not be able to fix into the side wall easily! There is also the added excitement with older houses where the window top is not at 90 degrees to the side! Of course if you have a modern PVC window you cant screw into that easily eather!
These are great, very common in Australia ( lived there) just looking into blinds etc as sone window have them fitted into glass itself. You’ve made a great job. Curtains are softer but we have allergies so just dust gatherers.
Nice job-usually the Black out unit goes closest to the glass to provide better room darkening.I guess your using it as the decorative element so that also is fine as well.Generally-the blackout shade goes in the back as a “Regular roll” so the fabric is as close to the glass as possible and the front shade gets done as a”Reverse roll” to hide the exposed tube.

I want the light filtering at the back in white and the blackout at the front in a charcoal colour (likely with a reverse roll sort of like a header? - not sure if they come with a valance). I don't really need room darkening - just need the privacy since I'm on the ground floor of a condo. I'm in Canada and not sure where to purchase at a reasonable price here.

I wondered this when I first ordered roller blinds when asked to pick the controller side. It seems that this is the way they should be?

Honestly insurance for miss measuring.
When most of the larger blinds are £200+ each and you're ordering 6 of them, spending £10 for extra peace of mind makes sense to me.
