I've had my 2018 Compass Limited for a full year and have had no issues or regrets . I would change a couple things if I could but that would apply to every vehicle I have ever driven . It's a great little vehicle with a great ride and I enjoy it every mile . Tip for owners with the standard sound system . Push the audio button on the display while radio is playing and you will see a loudness button on the left . Make sure that it is on and the sound quality is much better and quite good . You can also tweak the equalizer settings to your liking . I would buy the Compass again .

I work in the city and live in the country . I love my 2020 compass latitude. This is my 3rd jeep. My first 2 were Grand Cherokees so when the dealership even mentioned the compass I cringed. I hated the look of them but this body style is nice. Once I saw it and realized I could get it fully loaded with all the features I wanted for about the same price as a pretty plain Grand Cherokee I was sold. I have no regrets.
@@LJsGarage Oh and I've had 2 of my grandchildren in carseats and my 12 year old grandson( who is about 5' 10" ) in the backseat. It wasn't 100% comfortable for him but the ride wasn't miserable either. So it would fit 2 car seats and another smaller child just fine.
Bought my trailhawk 2019 with 10,000 miles for $21,000 😂 clean title. definitely a better price and the way to go! Still has a new car smell, great video
Well done can't argue with those numbers 👏🏿 you got a deal and you got my respect for your good taste! 🙏🏿 Thank you for checking it out and leaving some good vibes!
@@JstCallMeZo I do have a few complaints. Let’s start with the transmission and engine combination. It’s very sluggish. Getting up and going hard from a start red-lines the engine. Quality of the interior is lack luster. I had a Grand Cherokee before this but due to a woman hitting me it was totaled. The GC had great interior quality (doors, door sills, and plastic panels). On road trips last over a few hours is painful. I have a good back, but the seats are not designed for long trips. I guess I was spoiled by my GC, but the interior storage space is awful. Next year I plan on selling it and getting back into another Grand Cherokee.
Ha this Vid was great. Just got one of these today (2019 version, rental) while my 2014 Cadillac ATS is being repaired. I’m used to sedans so this was great. Gave me a reason to go to the garage and try and figure out what features it all has. Probably not that many because it’s a rental but I know a lot more after watching this then driving for an hour in it.
I caught the part of the video about the manual seats. My previous Grand Cherokee Laredo had power, my new “baby Grand Cherokee” doesn’t. I truly don’t miss them. What I find is the manual seats adjust much faster. Aside from that the non-power seats are going to be more reliable, and less expensive (no failed motor to replace)
My mom just got one and I thought the ride was very stiff vs my 2015 Chrysler 200. Maybe I need to drive it more but first impressions it needs a revised suspension.
Go for the Cherokee. 3.2L V6 option solves the power problem with the smaller 4cyl Tigershark but the nagging 9 spd tranny still gives me fits. I have learned to compensate for the shift lag time just dont try to jump out into traffic without a space buffer.

Great review! The price competition of Jeeps is a good recommendation, thanks. I am not a fan of start stop, so I wont get one, but your review saved me time on research.
Not a fan either of stop / start, but you can turn it off - plus nearly all new vehicles will have it now to cut down on emissions. I find it more annoying on a manual gearbox - my auto petrol has only done it once in 3months of ownership.
I have Beats audio in my 2017 compass trailhawk and they sound awesome! I get asked all time if I have a high quality aftermarket subwoofer installed lol
Honest it would be. it's a great size for city life and new drivers. It's similar in size to the jeep renegade and I know a lot of people think those are great for the suv form but without the size.
It truly is. Honestly other than the speed I have no complaints and it's really only because every daily I've had was over 250hp 😅 if you aren't a lead foot or an on ramp racer you'll be plenty happy.

Hi there, enjoyed your review on the Jeep compass.I would just like to ask you if it would be a suitable car for my wife and i, as were pensioners who can't enter or exit an ordinary low set vehicle. Or do you think we would look out of place in a modering stylish car like this one.?Thanks for your advice in advance.🏴🏴
Hey James, thank you! For me I'm about average height and getting in and out of this is similar to most SUVs. Way better than any low cars out there and not tall like a truck.
I bought a 2018 Latitude with 16k miles on it for 20k pre certified with 4 more years of powertrain warranty. I am glad I have it under warranty because I just discovered that there is a lawsuit filed because the 2.4L tigershark multiair have some piston ring issues and burns oil more than normal. A lot of people had issues with the car shutting down while driving before regular oil change because instead of a warning light, the car shuts down completely. Apparently 1qt of oil per 1k miles is normal to burn ( did my research on other brands and appeared to be true) but the problem is because the 4 cylinder does not take too much pil anyways so burning two quarters at 2k miles causes the car to shut down. Thousands of people complaining about this issue. Good to check oil stick at 1k miles. Besides this issue and the not very imprrssive transmission, I guess for the money is an ok buy. Whoever buys it tho, don’t run after used and cheap, make sure it still has manufacture warranty!
This is actually a problem with a lot of the newer cars that run 0w-20 oil. the manufacturer recommends longer oil change intervals on these engines, sometimes 10k miles or more. don’t rely on the trip computer, change the oil with good quality synthetic every 5k. We’ve had our 2018 Compass Latitude since new and it’s never burned a drop with better oil change timing.
Good question! I know they would have charged 1500 for it at the factory to add it, but not sure how much they'd charge to do it after the fact. Otherwise there are aftermarket places that will do it but it'll probably cost a bit more. I'd start with the dealership :)
So I bought a 2019 Compass Trailhawk last week, but before that I wanted another GC. Now looking at my Compass I have to agree- it looks like a baby Grand Cherokee. That’s surprising because one would think the Cherokee would look more like it’s big brother than the Compass.
Hey! I meant anything not Street driving. Could be as simple as gravel roads on a camping trip or as adventurous as driving through mud or on a dirt road. Hope that answers it!
@@LJsGarage ahhh, so would you recommend the Sport trim for highway driving? That's the one I'm looking into. & I will be on the highway. Thank you so much for responding.
@@jewelthompson4210you're welcome! I certainly would recommend the sport, it rides very well and has great road manners. The limited has a few more niceties that not everyone may need! So the sport is usually plenty
Why do people say that the compass is so bad?? All I hear is bad things... and I really want a compass! But I also want a good car that will last me a long time with minimal issues
Jeep and the whole Fiat family have had issues with reliability in the past. They make really good looking and attractive cars but the build quality in the past and on certain models wasn't always up to standard. Fiat especially. I personally think since about 2014+ they started getting things right again. Just my thought though. They make a lot of their expensive cars nice and then use the parts bin to throw the budget cars together. With the Compass it doesn't feel like they are doing that anymore!
LJs Garage THANK YOU ! do you think this would be a good ride around car? I drive an hour commute to work and have a 4 year old... is it also good in stop and go traffic? How is it on gas...?
@@AyeJye it checks all those boxes for sure. Very good size commuter SUV. Plenty of comfort and the gas mileage is respectable 23/32. I'd sign off on it ✊🏾
LJs Garage I tow an ATV trailer close to 1600lbs. Tows it great up hill, anywhere! People always say that the Compass is lacking power? I don’t see it maybe it’s just the driver? Personally I think it has a lot to do with the gas pedal, not sure if you noticed but the gas pedal moves about 3/4 of an inch before you have anything! There’s a product on the market called pedal commander, takes the slack completely out of the pedal as it’s drive by Wire, it’s adjustability is pretty amazing! The Compass has about the same power as the Cherokee with the V6, power to weight ratio!
@@camazar1 I gotcha Rick! That's why said in the video I'm used to cars with a lot more go so my thoughts came from that but you're on to something with the pedal and the commander. I've heard of it but I'm not sure most people care enough. Power for towing I wouldn't doubt. Glad you can back it up for those who are curious!
Honestly it's almost designed for young adults. Great for a college student. Size is just right, features are modern, gas mileage solid. You wouldn't need anything larger until you get two big dogs and a baby lol
LJs Garage Oh hi!! Ok. I have a light on the dash board that’s lit up all the time. It’s the letter A with a half circle around it. The dealer said it’s for the thing to turn off the engine at a light. And they said it should be lit up all the time. Do u agree.
I bought a 2019 this past saturday. It feels too jittery/bouncy when driving around. Not sure if it's a defect of some sort or if that's how the compass drives.
Congrats on the ride! Sorry the ride isn't really sitting well with you. I wouldnt use either of those words to describe the ride on these, wouldn't hurt to drive another and make sure everything is the way it should be. Good luck!
Tigershark? Can't quite remember where I read it but because the Compass' engine suffers from a lack of 'oomph' it has been dubbed "kitten fish." lol Still love it as a daily driver, though.
@@LJsGarage Just hoping I don't run into the nightmarish electrical / reliability issues that are known to plague this model. No SUV in this segment is perfect, though, but some things are truly unforgivable.

Or do you think we would look out of place in a modering stylish car like this one.?Thanks for your advice in advance.🏴🏴
Hey James, thank you! For me I'm about average height and getting in and out of this is similar to most SUVs. Way better than any low cars out there and not tall like a truck.
Can you make video hrv honda vs compass
Added to my list!
Oh man sorry to hear that for ya my friend! Thanks for passing on that information
Hey I have the 2019 Jeep Compass limited but I don’t have the sunroof any idea if this can be paid for to install ?
Good question! I know they would have charged 1500 for it at the factory to add it, but not sure how much they'd charge to do it after the fact. Otherwise there are aftermarket places that will do it but it'll probably cost a bit more. I'd start with the dealership :)
I like your test! Love this car!
Appreciate ya 🙏🏿 this is for sure a nice ride
Great review, you have definitely made me consider buying one of these. Thank you
Of course and thank you for watching!
why is this the baby grand cherokee rather than the cherokee?
I call it the baby grand Cherokee because jeep took the styling of the larger sibling and applied it to this. The Cherokee has its own unique styling
@@LJsGarage ah..... gotcha
Would the compass be suitable for a family of four ?
My fam is of 4 well 5 with the dog lolll , Got the the 2019 Limited and it's just perfect very comfortable and spaceful for a compact SUV!!!
Great video. Thank you for making and sharing on RUclips.
🙏🏿 thank you
we orderd our 2019 jeep compass yesterday were from london
Great! I hope it treats you well :)
Great job presenting this Jeep! I am going to buy one!
You won't be disappointed! Thank you ✌🏾
@@LJsGarage I am getting a Black one!
@@edo-j1784 heck yeah very classy 👏🏾
@@edo-j1784 me too, but Limited plus petrol
I got my 2019 Jeep Compass in March! I love 💕 my baby
Nice! But is it pink though?? lol
Nique-N-Pink nice model
LJs Garage no it’s white with black top and wheels 😩 awww how I wish it was pink 🤗
So I bought a 2019 Compass Trailhawk last week, but before that I wanted another GC. Now looking at my Compass I have to agree- it looks like a baby Grand Cherokee. That’s surprising because one would think the Cherokee would look more like it’s big brother than the Compass.
Agree! Congrats on the new ride!
The redesign was in 2017, I think
You are correct, but the new redesign I think came later in the year
This was a great review! Yea I love the Black roof and pink keyfob lol
Haha thanks 😊
You are a great presenter. 👍
I own a 2L diesel compass in india and even I feel the only issue is lack of power. Look wise better than the X3 and Q3.
Oh I dunno if I agree on the looks haha I love me an x3
I like this jeep . Its beautiful. Great review
Agreed! And thank ya!
Lol u r so welcome !
What does he mean by "go off road"? The Compass sport isn't for going off road? Anyone understand? The driving lingo is confusing.
@@LJsGarage thank you so much! Your insight is much appreciated!!
Excellent review! Thank you so much for sharing 🙂
Thank you! 😊
I'd sign off on it ✊🏾
LJs Garage thank you !! I just don’t want to invest in a car and then it has a whole bunch of issues!!
Nice Job. I love your content and so. Greeting from germany
Thanks you Chris!
Hopefully they get the diesel in this with the 6 speed manual trans
I'm not sure what they're waiting for! but then again I can't see the market data
The only jeep I would buy
Lol I feel ya, but those wranglers though??
Wonderful review!
Thanks! 🙏🏿
GREAT VIDEO. THE COMPASS LACKS POWER FOR BEING HOW HEAVY IT IS
Agreed! Thank you!
Love this car!! Great review, thank you!!
You're welcome and thank you for checking it out :)
I JUST GOT MINE TODAY

Charlie, thanks for checking it out! Glad you're loving it!
Just got one last night. Love it !
Yes! Congrats on the new ride 👍
LJs Garage
Aww. Thanks. It’s really a great car !
THIS WAS A GREAT REVIEW
Thank you and congrats Timothy! Great choice 👌
Is the Compass a good car for college students?
Honestly it's almost designed for young adults. Great for a college student. Size is just right, features are modern, gas mileage solid. You wouldn't need anything larger until you get two big dogs and a baby lol
Yes it would be
I have a 18 sport love it
They are so clean 👏🏾
That logo is the front grill of world war used jeeps
Ahh that's sweet!
Hi ! I have a question about the thing that turns off your car at a red light. If anyone can help me let me know. I just got the 2019 compass limited.
What's your question I may have an answer, shoot!
LJs Garage
Oh hi!! Ok. I have a light on the dash board that’s lit up all the time. It’s the letter A with a half circle around it. The dealer said it’s for the thing to turn off the engine at a light. And they said it should be lit up all the time. Do u agree.
@@catpaws1196 yep that's the auto start symbol. As long as there isn't an exclamation mark you are good.
LJs Garage
There is an exclamation point there too. Something is wrong. Right ? I thought the dealer was wrong. Thank u.
I don't think it is normal. I thought that meant malfunction. Does the stop start work still?
Why is the key fob pink? Lol
Protective cover haha
I bought a 2019 this past saturday. It feels too jittery/bouncy when driving around. Not sure if it's a defect of some sort or if that's how the compass drives.
Congrats on the ride! Sorry the ride isn't really sitting well with you. I wouldnt use either of those words to describe the ride on these, wouldn't hurt to drive another and make sure everything is the way it should be. Good luck!
@@LJsGarage Thanks! Yeah, I have to stop by the dealer to pick up my registration. So maybe I'll take another one for a spin.
Nice review! Thanks!
You got it! 🙏🏿
First! Keep up the awesome work!
You the real MVP! Lol thanks ✊🏾
No sir. That is all you!! Anytime!

@@LJsGarage No doubt. Very well spoken.
I have the 2018 Compass Limited in Redline! I love it!
😍 can't go wrong with Redline, such a good color!
@EDMONTON AJALIL those are a good size upgrade I think they'll look good ✌🏾
@EDMONTON AJALIL I seen one with 19 inch wheels, and fell in love. You should do it!
my only grudge on this car is that it isn't made in USA but Mexico. The Cherokee is made in USA along with the CRV and Kia's Sorento.
great review, nice cars
Appreciate the feedback! Thank ya ✌🏾
Great video!
Thomas thanks!
Tigershark? Can't quite remember where I read it but because the Compass' engine suffers from a lack of 'oomph' it has been dubbed "kitten fish." lol
Still love it as a daily driver, though.
Haha it's a simple joke but that's hilarious 😂
@@LJsGarage Just hoping I don't run into the nightmarish electrical / reliability issues that are known to plague this model. No SUV in this segment is perfect, though, but some things are truly unforgivable.
@@dh1163 I agree. And electrical issues are a nightmare no matter which car. Fingers crossed you have smooth sailing 🤞🏾
I know it's way late, but great video! Subscribed 🙂
Never too late! Much appreciated 🙌🏿

I love the look of these vehicles, but man are they slow. I barely got up to speed on the interstate with a car very far behind my target merging lane
True that lol
