    Fantastic video! I have been trying to figure this out for awhile now and didn't even know about the program option! Thank you

    Thx, Kevin. Can you plz give quick comparison between NC Program vs. current Post? Also, why will NC Program eventually become the preferred method?

      I was wondering the same thing and have the same question. Currently, this can be done by selecting both ops and then post processing....right? So is there an NC advantage, or is this just another change we'll be forced into after getting used to the current way for years?

      Hi Swami. I think we will see further streamlining of the posting process in the future in this is a step in that process. It is also a consistent experience now between Windows and Mac. Currently posting from the two OS's gives vastly different UI's for doing so.

      @@MechanicalAdvantage Thx for the reply. In what way does NC program "streamline" the process? Not pushing back; just honestly want to know. And, yes, I have experienced the different UI's between Win/MacOS. Hasn't been an issue for me, though I do think the Win one is slightly better.

      @@bluehandsvideo I'll use a standard answer that I give in classes when I am asked. The Model T was a good car, but none of us are driving them anymore. Things change and evolve. I promise you the developers aren't sitting around saying "well, Mike knows how to post now, let's go change it up!". Automation for posting code will be one reason this change is required. I think we will see further work down the road that will streamline the process further. It also gives a consistent look and feel on both Windows and Mac. Plus it will be able to do more things than just posting can do. We'll continue to see improvements with NC Programs output capabilities. I like to make these videos ahead of time to give you a chance to play with things on your own terms before you have to learn the new way. So play around with it, and you will find it really isn't much different than what you are currently used to.

      @@swamihuman9395 My guess is that it will tie into machine definitions etc. If you were to choose a machine when you create your setup, why do you have to tell Fusion what post you want to use for that setup? It will be small things like that which will speed up the process overtime is my belief. Plus NC Programs will continue to add new capabilities as well.

    Can't you use the rest machining stock option for that last op? They added that just a few months ago i think. You select it instead of fixed stock size, and then also have to click a checkbox IIRC.
    Edit: or maybe the option is called "use stock from previous operation" or something like that. Sorry, not near pc right nite.

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  3 года назад

      That is still pretty primitive. It also doesn’t work across instances of a part. Yet 😉

      @@MechanicalAdvantage you can save the stock midway through stock machining and then rest machining from file. Then use the saved body file

    Thank you for the video! A quick question -
    In another video, you showed having two vises facing each other clamping on the same part for two different operations, that make sense to me - and I can do it the same file I worked on the CAD for the model. In this case, you have the same part twice at different location on the same vise.
    Is this a different file, in which you inserted the design for the speed handle twice, in different orientations, so the linked model is used for CAD, and the new file is used for CAM? Is there a way to do this in the original file (where the CAD happened)?
    Thanks!

      As long as it is a component (in the design or an external reference) you can place as many as you want. If you look at the browser it will show componentname:1 componenname:2 meaning they are the same component but multiple instances.

    you can have accurate stock for the second op if you save you simulation stock from the first op as a stl file then import it and position it over your second op model

    • @donthatetaylor
      @donthatetaylor 7 месяцев назад

      like when you run the simulation of your first op when the simulation is done don't close it. right click anywhere on the screen and click save stock. you can save your stock that way as an stl file. go back to design mode. go to import. import your stock file. NOTE* you have to import it in millimeters for some reason or else your stock model will be too big. from there use the move feature to position the stock. I use from point to point and pick two similar corners.

    Is there a preference setting for the “minimize tool changes” to work? I cannot get my program to reorder the tools. I have 2 setups, using g55, g56. Any help?

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  3 года назад +1

      Usually when this doesn’t work, it is because the users keeps selecting the same tool from the tool library instead of reusing the tool from the document list. So if you click manage -> tool library -> then click your document from the left hand side. If you see for instance, four tool #2 then the reorder won’t work properly.

    Why not use a stock model to simulate your stock for op 2? You have a video on doing that lol

    When you set up the machine for Z. I guess you set g54 then do the Z offset for g55? Thank you for sharing this video btw.

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  2 года назад

      Ok the machine you set the X,Y,Z position for both G54 and G55. Then the code tells the machine what WCS to use for each toolpath.

      If I was going to bet, I would say that you have the same tool duplicated in your document tool list. For instance you might see two tool #7 1/4” end mills. Check to see if that is the case.

    I was expecting to see a video like:
    - I have 1.000 individual parts in my library, all of them has it's on DESIGN environment done with all the properties that I want, with changeable parameters. Also they have on MANUFACTURING environment its own WCS, stock, CNC tools, speeds etc pre-setup (in case I want to manufacture it individually).
    - BUT now, I want to combine 4 items from my library, and cut em on my stock together, I want to duplicate some of them. I would like to be able to just drop (or arrange / nesting whatever you want call - or proceed) in a manufacture environment and CUT... that's it, no re-setup my tools or anything because I have done it previously...
    Could you show us if that is possible? Your video did not make it clear for me, because it starts when you already have your parts there...

    for 2nd op stock for a quicky - I make the stock od XY boundaries the same as Op1 - make top the same # as Op1 bottom - then make the bottom a negative number = to what the contour shape depth was in Op1 -
    Thanks for multiple Ops -

      I think maybe in tool bar - NC program should replace or be next to Post Process so we have a choice
